It's on par or even better than my favorite places like gong cha or verde tea in mountain view, which is saying a lot considering those were my favorite go to places. Stopped in for a boba fix. I think I had a strawberry green tea with boba. Comparable to a Quickly in terms of tea flavor, semi weak. But the boba was cooked well and had a good texture. The place was pretty hot as they didn't have AC or turn it on. But we stayed and chatted with our cold drinks. They don't have too many tables in there. I come here every so often to get their tangerine green or black tea. Unlike some of their other flavored teas (like the passion fruit), it's not too sweet. Haven't had the tapioca balls in a while, but remember them being chewy, not hard in the middle (so gross when this happens). Friends and family confirm tapioca quality is consistent. Downside: no tapioca doesn't mean more drink, because they add a lot of ice. They have a pretty good selection of drinks and cooked snack items. Lobstar balls contain no lobster and taste exactly like fish balls, but what do you expect for under 5 bucks? Popcorn chicken is tasty and fried well. If you get it spicy make sure you have enough beverage to get through the heat. This place is on the pricier side of tapioca drinks. Quaint little place complete with a couch and operational arcade game table ($0.50/game) I ordered and was really excited for a Taro Smoothie but it turned out to be too sweet. Each tapioca ball was surrounded by warm, also very sweet, syrup that clashed with the cold smoothie and made everything at the bottom of the cup watery, lukewarm, and even more sickly sweet. I had come here for a ~serious conversation~ with a close friend and ended up staying for quuuite a while. Said friend got a melon-juice, though, and we could see the cups with fresh fruit in the refrigerator. I had a sip and it was very refreshing! The staff was considerate and even asked for our consent to change the lighting when the sun went down :) Perhaps it was just that one drink that wasn't so hot (or rather, cold, haha) but I have high hopes! Pretty decent milk tea place here in Dublin. They have a wide variety of smoothies, milk tea, creamas, and snacks. Not too much seating, but the interior is clean, nonetheless. They also sell candies, phone cases; a bit of extra stuff you wouldn't normally expect for the milk tea norm. Service was pretty fast, only taking about 5 minutes. The only thing that did peeve me was the fact that I got a honeydew milk tea in place of the honey milk tea that I ordered. I still love their drinks here, but I have to knock them down b/c the place is getting dirtier and dirtier. Usually I pick up my drink and go, but today I took my son in to eat a snack and noticed how dirty things are. The plastic trash can by the door seriously needs either a good scrubbing or they need to replace it. The lid, especially, is disgusting. Really, it's not that hard to wipe/scrub it down once a week or so. The non-slip liner they have on top of the cabinet by the magazines is also disgusting. Back when I lived in Dublin, there was no Asian shopping plaza to get milk tea if I wanted, or shaved ice if I craved it, not even Yogurtland was open at that time. All I had to soothe my little Asian worries was Cafe Tapioca. It's not that their milk tea is particularly awesome or that their fried lobster balls and spicy chicken tastes any better than the new Quickly's that's just opened in town. No, I only come here for one reason and one reason only: their ice cream milk tea. Yeah, that's right, I said ICE CREAM...in MILK TEA. Omg, they have ICE CREAM MILK TEA!!! So far, this is the only place I know of in the East Bay that has it and it is a delicious combo! Whoever thought of this, I give you props. I'm sure it's not unheard of in other areas, but this is where I first discovered the novel idea. Trust me, on a hot summer day, nothing tastes better! There are only two ice cream milk tea flavor options. One, is vanilla ice cream with your choice of milk tea. Two, is green tea ice cream with plain milk tea. Having tried both, I definitely prefer the latter. Green tea ice cream is delicious in itself but mixed with milk tea, it is incredibly satisfying and thirst quenching! You definitely have to try it to get what I mean. I'm from the city, the home of tapioca and this place definitely caters to a different crowd. I don't think the clientele really knows boba drinks as they should be made. Had a honeydew melon smoothie and also mango smoothie. Despite asking if the melon smoothie was made with fresh fruit, and being told it was, it was a bend from the truth. Both tasted too "honeydew-ish" and the mango tasted too "mango"....as in fruit syrup. While drinking the honeydew smoothie, i did come across ONE sliver of honeydew so I think it's a mix of fruit and syrup. I've had powdered versions and this isn't it. But the direct taste of honeydew and mango leads me to believe they use syrup. Will give them a 2nd chance, going to try traditional milk tea or coffee. read more

We just received the worst customer service from Cafe Tapioca. Given the cafe was the only tapioca shop within driving distance of our house in San Ramon, we had no choice after Q-Cup closed in Pleasanton -- Q-Cup was the best tapioca shop in the area. Bad customer service! I have been coming to this place often for so many years, but today is my last visit here. Since I come here often, I got the coupon for buy two get 3rd free. So today I ordered three drinks and entered the 5 star reward and told her I wanted to use the coupon now. This place has a lot of memories. I remember going here all the time as a kid. I really liked the royal milk tea because it had a stronger tea taste. I think the slushy ones are okay, but I like boba and it makes boba hard after a while if you don't drink it fast enough so I stay with the milk teas. Pros: The staff is friendly, they take credit/debit card, the menu is very extensive, there are food options, they have a fun little old-school arcade machine, and they sell random Asian snacks and trinkets. Cons: Their boba is really hard. It's not soft and chewy. I mean it's particularly hard to where it was literally the biggest thing that bothered me. Conclusion: This place is near Target, Chipotle, 99 Ranch Supermarket, and a whole bunch of other stuff so it's very convenient to swing by after running an errand or wanting a sweet drink after you eat. What makes Cafe Tapioca unique is definitely the staff. The husband and wife that own the place are extremely nice. Service is much better than any of the boba joints I've been to. The drinks are typical tapioca drinks that use flavor powder, however, they do have a number of unique drinks that are quite tasty (try the avocado green tea smoothie for starters). A year ago, I never would have thought Cafe Tapioca would have survived in Dublin. However, it beat out Q-Cup which was located in the more trendy Hacienda Crossings shopping center, and I think it will become even more popular with the opening of Ranch 99 across the street and Le Asia across town. read more

My review is critiquing Cafe Tapioca's customer service. The first time I came to the place, I had really good customer service. And that encouraged my girlfriend amd I to come back. However , the last few times my girlfriend and I went their, we got really bad customer service by an androgynous girl. She gave our drinks without even clarifying which one was which. She took our orders with a harsh voice like we inconvenienced her for coming. Also, the second or third time we went back, she didn't even greet us. She never even looked up from her phone! The other few girls were nice enough but I'm discouraged by their constant usage of their phones. It's really unprofessional. I would come back for the drinks, because they're really good.
