Always our family default when we feel like xiao long bao. Their beef roll is also one of the best we've tried. Nice and friendly staff. Good food. Expanded menu now with dishes and fried rice. Definitely recommend if you have a craving for xiao long bao and other dishes.

Tried this really good shangainese food in Dublin; we had the pork shrimp and leek dumplings with the hot sauce and it was yum; also had the chicken stir fried lo mein, little bit oily/saucy but amazing taste! Highly recommended!!

Food is solid and great great service! Best dumplings and green bean was light, and fresh. The favorite is the cucumber salad, perfectly seasoned.

Small, efficient, clean, sit down take out spot. Nice staff, good selection with frozen options of dumplings to take home. Reasonable prices and plenty of parking, We had the chicken dumplings and they were perfection. Such a flavor bomb in every bite. Ample selection of sauces spicy and not to choose from. This is a good choice to get your dumpling on.

Good local spot if you live in the area! You sit down and can mark on a menu what you want to order, and then you'll order at the front kiosk. They also had some special dishes posted on the wall that are not on the menu. Smaller restaurant as well. Service was attentive and great, although there were only 3 tables taken at the time. XLB, green beans, and the special spicy pork chili wonton were good. I wished the green beans were cooked or fried a bit more - they are on the softer side but have good flavor. There was also a special lava bun, but it was pretty watery and slightly chalky. Would probably not get that again!

I love this spot. I've eaten here a few times (including my birthday and my fiancé's birthday,) and the food and service are always stellar. This time we ordered the pork xiaolongbao, which had the best savory broth and meat. We also got the shumai, which was beautiful and so tender. The popcorn chicken is always perfectly crispy and we also got an order of chicken potstickers which never disappoints. Everything is served with super speed, and the restaurant is always clean. If you can, try to come during non-peak hours (slightly before or after noon, or slightly before dinner) because parking can be a little challenging.

Visiting 88 Bao Bao for the second time, quick little pit stop on my way through the area. Interestingly the quality of the things we ordered this time seemed just a little bit better, Xiao Long Bao this time was very solid, great texture, great taste. Beef Roll Pancake, undefeated, but slightly less greasy that's a positive for sure. Chili Oil Wontons, SHOCKINGLY juicy and fresh, these hit. Same thing with the potstickers, first one was so juice it shot across the table. Good stuff. Now on the less awesome, the green beans did taste good, but they were very very oily, and the Golden Fried Bun with condensed milk....... Now those I wouldn't get again, those were SOAKED in grease and just tasted like old fryer. I'm not sure there is any way around that with these though, they are just a grease bomb. Maybe if they were coated in powdered sugar or something it could mask a bit of the oil taste, but these we didn't finish. Service, always super fast and the staff is hard at work cranking out everything totally fresh. Ambiance like I said before, bit weird. It's like being in a closet vs a dining space, but hey, they gotta do what they gotta do. One thing is the price, it was $87 for what we ordered, and where this is good, it just doesn't seem to live up hype of $15+ per selection, that's steep.

The soup dumpling at this restaurant is so round. Order at the register, get a number and seat yourself! There's at least 15 tables. The menu contains a lot of good selection of items. The order came out quickly which is awesome. The Xiao long bao ($12.95) is very juicy, thin wraps for an easy bite. Filling was plentiful as well, contains pork, ginger, and scallions. Mixed with ginger vinegar makes it taste better. The chili oil noodles ($12.95) had good chew, could use a few more bok choy in the dish, but overall, not spicy and would come back for the noodles

Had to try this place since one is opening up around my area. This place is nice and clean. It's a small place but groups can be occupied. Very spacious and food is freshly made. Dumpling soups is a must. Soo good. Well all the food that I ordered is good. Friendly ladies and fast service. Now check out what I ordered.

Long standing line to place orders in a cramped space on a Sunday afternoon. Be prepared for a good 10+ minute wait.

I've been here plenty of times but for whatever reason have always failed to follow up with my review. 88 Bao Bao is a solid traditional Chinese dumpling place offering a number of other fast casual Chinese food options. Service is always quick with ordering at the front counter and if you choose to dine in, finding one of the few available tables for eating. This time because I was time-crunched, I placed my order online about 10 to 12 minutes away from arrival. My order was already waiting for me before the promised time, well packaged and bagged for my pickup. I decided that we would eat there, and the staff was very accommodating, helping us to set up our table with plates and napkins and unpacking our already bagged up food. The food was still piping hot, and just as good as every time we are here. We ordered our usual stir fried green beans and xiao long bao. This time I ordered the popcorn chicken. The chicken was moist and well seasoned just like those made popular at boba tea shops. Plus the portion size was big and satisfying. Again, a solid spot for a quick and satisfying meal!

My boyfriend's a big fan of Chinese beef rolls, so we wanted to try this local spot I've had bookmarked for years. It's a small, no-frills spot with a simple menu. Tldr; come for the beef rolls- skip the soup and wontons. - beef roll: SO good. I would definitely come back just for these and order multiple. - pork xlb: not bad, but not amazing. Good if you're in the area and craving it. The skins weren't super stretchy or delicate. - beef noodle soup: super oily and extremely bland. Huge pass. - chili oil wontons: these tasted so strange, we actually had to ask if we got the right order. Half of the filling was veggies and the sauce was not like anything we've tasted when we've ordered the same dish elsewhere. Big pass.

Is there MSG in the fried rice?

    Do they take reservations?

No. They can get busy but you can always get take out and eat in your car or at Bishop Ranch.

There's a new location opening up in Antioch/Brentwood area. Yay!! When will they open?

Not sure, but Castro Valley will be opening late September/early October :)

Hello, is the beef roll diary free?

There is a small amount of dairy in the sauce they use for the beef rolls

Will you be open on 12/24 or 12/25?

I don't know, but traditionally Chinese restaurants are known to be open on Xmas day. If not them, I'm sure another Chinese restaurant will be. Those that are open tend to be slammed, so go early.

    Do they take phone orders?

    Yes, they do! :-)

    Can you get Takeout?

    Yes,you can do Togo.

What kind of frozen dumplings do they sell? XLB? Potstickers? Kind that's supposed to be boiled?

They sell the kind that have a thicker skin and can be boiled or steamed, but you could also pan-fry them and turn them into potstickers.

Do they accept American Express credit cards?

    I believe so.

    Gluten free options?

So far as I know there r no gluten free options. It's a small shop with limited menu items, most of which the do really well.

Do they sell frozen dumplings so I can take home to cook on my own?

They do! We went there last week there's a sign by the door that they sell frozen dumpling.

Does this place use MSG in the food?

No being very sensitive to msg I always ask if they use it.

    Any vegan options?

Yes my daughter is a vegan and we discovered a reasonable number of vegan plates. Bon Appetite

We were being seated right the way by the nice big window table. I enjoyed the service there . Without asking , they gave us the serving chop stick , a pot of tea ( we requested Iron Buddha tea leaves) and an extra pot of hot water to keep the tea pot filled . We ordered the soup dumplings with fish mew in high soup . It tasted great . Many restaurants don't have this item or they made it not as good . The high soup is tasty and the ingredients had a lot of seafood and shrimp . Fish mew was good size . I wan impressed when we asked for small ceramic bowl to share the food , they gave us two heated bowls . Just like you wanted beer in the club and they gave you an iced mug . To keep the high soup and soup dumplings in high temperatures, it tasted better . We have the following dim sum : Steamed chicken feet in black bean suave with pork ribs 蒸鳳爪排骨 Pan fried shrimp dumplings with chives牛煎韮菜餃 Stairs fried sticky rice with dried shrimp and Chinese sausage , large size . A dinner menu item 生炒糯米飯。大碟 X O sauce and pan fried daikon cake 煎蘿蔔糕伴XO 醬 Stewed beef belly 牛雜 Steamed bean curb skin roll with black mushroom 齋燒鵝 Red bean coconut cake ( dessert ) 5/5 for all dim sum Nicely made and all tasted excellent. I like this Koi Palace better than the one in Milpitas . It has much better customer services . Before the main dinning hall , it has many more rooms attached to the main dinning area. You can reserve rooms for private events or family gathering . You can also make reservations on line or by phone to reserve your table . So you dominates to wait , just walk up to the check in counter and bring seated . I usually make my reservations 3 days in advance to make sure I can get the large table. Each time father dinning , this Koi Palace give you a coupon ( % of your total price of the meal ) and you have 14 days to use it to pay for the next meal here . What a wonderful idea ! Enjoy and hope that you have fun when you come !

We ordered oolong tea, which was just a tea bag in a pot. That alone is OK. However, we suspect that the tea bag was reused, as there was no flavor in the tea and the color was way too light. I informed our waiter. They said it was because the pot didn't have enough hot water, so they filled up the pot with hot water. I said wouldn't that further dilute the tea? They said no, just give it some time. There were 3 of us. We ordered 6 dishes. By the time we're almost done, the tea was still of a light yellowish color. I finally asked the manager. He apologized and replaced the tea bag with 2 new ones. The tea finally had some flavor, but we were done with dinner by then. But that's not the most disappointing thing. One of the dishes we ordered was a pepper-n-salt fish. This is a common dish. It wasn't on the menu but based on previous dining experience at this very restaurant, we knew they could make it. It came with 6 bite-sized fillet, reasonably tasty. The surprise came when we got the bill. They charged us $42 for the dish. Most dishes are $28 or less unless it's fresh seafood (i.e., taken from their live seafood tanks). I probably should've said something but decided it wasn't worth it. Oh, they charged an 18% gratuity and asked for "additional tips" on the bill. I've eaten here plenty of times and they never charged upfront gratuity for a 3-person table. Must be a recent change. That by itself is OK IMO, as long as it is clearly stated in the menu. But it's not. I normally give 20%. But this time I put a line through the "additional tips" line.

They had to take us out of the restaurant and reenter from the side of the building to go upstairs. The second floor looked just as nice, clean, and spacious. I might even prefer it because it's quieter, more peaceful, and just more comfortable overall. As for the food, most of what we tried was delicious. We ordered some staple dim sum items like pork siu mai and har gow, and both were really good. I also tried the shrimp and scallop dumplings, which are similar to har gow, and those were pretty tasty too. We also got the fried rice with salted fish, and it was made in a "yang chow" style, so it was rather pale in color, but don't let that fool you, because it was really flavorful. We also ordered their fried calamari, which was meh at best and was nothing special. That was probably my least favorite dish. We also got lo mai gai and deep fried taro dumplings filled with pork. Overall, the food was really yummy. The service was great too. The staff were attentive and quick to bring extra chili sauce and other condiments when we requested them. I'd definitely come back again.

The only slight letdown was that the skin on a few of the dumplings was a bit too delicate and sensitive--they tore easily, so the kitchen's wrapper wrapper-to-filling ratio or dough mixture might have been just a little off that day. That minor detail aside, the food was genuinely delicious. We did notice a funny little quirk on the menu, though: there are two completely different dishes both labeled as number "202." If you aren't paying close attention, you might get a surprise, because one "202" is the rich roasted duck, and the other "202" is a vegetable dish! You really need to try this, because you won't find it anywhere else, and it is cooked with amazing expertise. I am not going to try to compare this to anything else. It is steeped deeply into Chinese culture and history. Often used medicinally for joint and immune problems, it also has scallions and ginger for the yet another boost. I never had it before but know it was cooked to traditional perfection. Just try it. It is slightly higher in cost as sea cucumbers are not the easiest thing to get a hold of, but trust me it is worth a few tries. The ginger and scallions add amazing flavor, but if you can't eat them all add them to your left over mushu (you will have left over mushu typically because despite being the best anywhere I have had, it's a generous portion). Don't forget to order tea (chá) for a super authentic experience. This place has dishes found nowhere else, and they are typically amazing. It's a roomy restaurant with top notch quality and service, and authentic ambience. I believe that there are plenty of fake reviews for this place- I "can't imagine why" but I do have some suspicions. You can tell the places that I genuinely love by the number of reviews. I don't typically leave reviews for the very few bad restaurants in the tri-valley, I can't think of any off hand, but I can't help but frequent my favorites, and this is my very favorite!

The texture is just right, there are plenty of fish pieces, and the flavor is classic, right down to the ginger slivers. Shrimp rice noodle roll $9.50 - DH's favorite dim sum item. It is tender, and the shrimp are large and crispy. Comes with the classic soy-based sauce. Crab meat braised E - fu noodle $24.95 - DH's favorite noodle. The flavors are really good and interestingly enough it comes with these little beans on the bottom. Pork tends to be a little bit on the lean side. Portion size seems okay. The dim sum lunch was authentic HK Cantonese teahouse style and it was a terrific place to meet old friends for loud laughs and conversations. The staff was on point periodically swinging by to subtly assisting us with needs and emptied plates. I understand that this particular restaurant has been open for several years now but I did not realize their chain of restaurants have been for almost 20 years! That's quite a feat in my view. Because of my excitement with catching up with my friends, I did not take much pictures of the food or setting but to affirm, the food was delicious and the tea was smooth, fresh; the eatery was nicely decorated and spacious too. Don't know if my non-Chinese friends understand this, BUT YOU CAN ask for various, different kinds of teas and their combination. Yes, multiple pots too. The dim sum is obviously the center piece but the tea "yum chai" is equally the star in my opinion to complement the foods. I recommend a lighter tea for lite drinkers like Chrysanthemum tea ie flower steeped, no caffeine and floral. However, if you want a bold tea try "Bo lay" black tea for lightly sipping when eating lots and lots of heavy food. Pro-tip: For tea adventurers, try a fusion teapot (e.g. Chrysanthemum + Bo lay), combo tea flavors is different and neat when i crave for a different drink. I'll be back for sure. Hope you do too!

Almost no spots open besides one that was too small for other cars but luckily we fit. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Not the cleanest or tidiest of restaurants but usually those are the ones where you know the food is what brings people in regardless. We signed in on a paper sheet and were called to be seated shortly after. After ordering, the food came out very quickly - we almost didn't have enough space on the table! - FOOD - BBQ Pork & Dry Shrimp ($10.25): I'm used to the BBQ Pork being more chopped up, but they keep the pieces here bigger. I think I like BBQ Pork and Dry Shrimp separate more. Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll ($9.00): One of the classics, and will always be my number one pick! I prefer my rice rolls to not have lettuce in them though. Dough Stick Rice Noodle Roll ($7.95): I thought that the dough stick could have been fresher, it was a bit stale by the time we ate it. Pork and Gold Preserved Egg Congee ($7.50): Really well flavored, and good amount of pork and egg. The consistency is thicker than I'm used to but it's still good. Shrimp Wonton Soup ($11.75): Nice clean broth, and the wontons were nicely seasoned. I do wish there was more soup. Shrimp Dumplings ($7.25): We just wanted to try these, and honestly they were just OK. Skin fell apart pretty easily but the shrimp was big. Fried Sesame Balls ($6.00): Also just OK. Typical red bean filling, nothing too special but nice to end the meal with something sweet. - OVERALL - A nice quick lunch with some comforting favorites. I wish we had a rice roll spot in my town!

The rice noodle roll is super smooth and thin, not heavy or doughy at all. The soy sauce has that slightly sweet Cantonese flavor that really ties everything together. Service is pretty fast, so it's great for a quick breakfast before work or a lazy weekend stop. It's not fancy, but it's the kind of place that leaves you feeling like the day started off right.

We shared the beef stew noodles, chili oil wontons, steamed tofu with fish, and the Sichuan spicy fried chicken with bone. Every dish was absolutely delicious and perfectly satisfied my craving for that bold, numbing, spicy Sichuan flavor. I can't wait to come back again soon!

We got the green onion pancake ($8.95), kung pao chicken ($15.95), yang chou fried rice ($13.95), and one other stir fried dish I can't totally remember but believe was pork with mushrooms and bell peppers. The kung pao chicken had some flavor in the sauce I wasn't totally loving, but was spicy and packed with chicken, peanuts, onions, and bell peppers. The green onion pancake was crispy and delicious, with eight slices to an order. But the star of the show was the yang chou fried rice, which is that fluffy, soft type of fried rice I absolutely love. That was the first thing that got finished at the table. Portions are generous. My brother and I are both good eaters but we still left with leftovers. However, be careful with the take-out containers here; the kung pao leaked for some reason and the containers just felt a little flimsy in general. Luckily they were in a plastic bag, otherwise it would've gotten all over the car. Plenty of other things on the menu to try and I wouldn't object to coming here again, I just wouldn't drive all the way out specifically for it.
