    Grilled shrimp po'boy
    Rachel T.

Stopped here after flying into Bozeman and it was great! I got a shrimp po' boy, friends got fried chicken po' boy and the creole chicken philly with shoestring fries. The staff was very friendly and helpful in our menu decision-making process and service was prompt. It's not exactly a traditional sit-down restaurant but all the food was great and the casual atmosphere of the restaurant doesn't deter from how enjoyable of an experience it was! We dined outside after ordering inside at the counter and filling our drinks at the self-serve soda fountain.

My sister found this spot for us. Unexpected find in Montana. Very delicious. Crawfish etoufee is buttery. Jambalaya is full of flavor. Because the food is so good make sure you reserve a lot of time if you plan to come here before your flight. The food took 30 mins on a Thursday at lunch. The woman taking your order will let you know wait time on the food before accepting payment. Could be longer on a weekend. It's a large restaurant, plenty of parking and seating: indoors, outdoors, at the bar. This place is great value. You get a lot of food and you will leave full. I wish we had one back home!

We tried to find local dishes that Montana is known for and a few local folks we talked to only mention huckleberry and chuckled there's no other dishes the state is known for so I opted to try Cajun, taking me back to my roots. The restaurant is close to Montana State University and it quaint and quite charming with an outdoor patio. The cashier was very friendly. The owner is from Abbeviille, Louisiana which is smack in the middle of Cajun Country. The menu seems legit and we ordered the fried banana pudding fir dessert along with the seafood gumbo and catfish platter. Food cane out and it looks good but I was disappointed that the catfish wasn't fried and it was grilled instead. It taste ok and I think would have taste better if it was fried instead. The seafood gumbo was their popular dish but I was underwhelmed by it. Honestly, the gumbo I make back home taste better. For Montana, the food is good enough but this place can not compete with the restaurants back in Louisiana. Service is friendly and prices are reasonable for small town Monta though. I would definitely go here over the other restaurants I saw on Yelp as those serve the same standard American fare.

This place doesn't compare to the real New Orleans style food. Had the gumbo and it lacked flavor and was watery. Had some nice pieces of seafood but really not enough of anything. The etouffe tasted more buttery than having a nice rouge. Had a nice amount of crawfish though. Cute ambiance of a house and friendly staff....maybe they're more known for their sandwiches.

The food was amazing and the portions are huge. Worth every penny. Service was great as well!

Fried pickles--AMAZING! The dipping sauce is delicious as well. Lobster roll--this is very heavy, but over all really tasty! Super fast and great comfort food :)

The portions here are MASSIVE the price reasonable and the service holding that southern hospitality! Couldn't recommend this place more if you want authentic southern gumbo and other delicious foods.

Stopped there on 7-10-2026 from a recommendation from the hotel that we spent the night at before…read morewe flew out the next day, what a mistake. Walked into the place and they sat us down into a freezing room. The waitress told us that it would get warmer as the crowd shows up. We told them that we were freezing and they still did not offer to move us. Fortunately we were going to miss the crowd since we weren't going to stay there for 4-5 hours for them to show up to exhale enough carbon dioxide to warm the room up. So my wife orders the salmon dish and it came with two sides, she couldn't chose the sides, the dish had broccoli and salad. I order the filet mignon, baked potato and salad and specifically inform the waitress that I want my steak to be cooked "medium". Not "medium rare or medium well done", because the cooks always get it wrong depending on the thickness of the steak if they have a mediocre chef. Well she brings the salads out, can't mess up the salads, right? Salads look mediocre at best, small, nothing to brag about. Still freezing our asses off in the room. The meals are arriving, yeah... My wife's salmon plate was on fire as she bringing it out. The wooden platter that the fish was placed on was on fire which was burning/charr-broiling (crispy) the end of the salmon, the waitress put the fire out as she sat it down on the table, I shit you not!!! She sat my steak and bake potato down. The potato is a nice sized one and cooling off due to the room being so cold and it's got butter on it and the butter is not even melting, so I'm like okay. The waitress (bless her heart) asked me to cut into my steak to verify that it's cooked to my standard before she walks away and asked me if I wanted anything else, why yes I do, I want some A-1 steak sauce like I asked for before. I cut the steak open and it's rare to medium rare. Take it back and get it right. At this point if the A-1 sauce had been there with everything else going on, I would have eaten the steak, took my losses and left and gave her a poor tip. Bam, she comes back with plate which is splattering grease on me (I have a white pullover shirt on) and the table with one of those little ketchup tubs half-way full of some type of steak sauce. You know the type that you pump into the little cups where you get the flatware from and tells me it's @ 350 degrees or some shit like that. At this point, I'm done. I don't care if blood is pouring out of the piece of meat, a little bit of steak sauce, a frozen baked potato, it's going down. Nothing like having a filet that's burnt crispy on the ends, good crispy burnt crunchy tasting and getting to a medium pink middle, what a transition. I used to grill like that. My wife did love her salmon, she didn't eat the broccoli, it would have been nice if she had a choice on her side. The waitress asked if we wanted desert, I just ignored her after that. Got my check, poor tip and left. I think that the salad or meal gave me diarrhea in the evening at the hotel. I had indigestion and diarrhea all night long and the next morning. I had to go over to a local store and buy some stop the flow pills just so that we could fly out of town that day. The funny thing is that Rib & Chop House sent a survey link to fill out and when I went to fill it out, that's why I'm doing this one, I started out with a poor rating. Then they send you a verification code to start it, the code wouldn't work, resend, it wouldn't work. I was really done then.

On Wednesday evening we made a last minute decision to stop in for dinner and we are so glad we did. Sat at the bar as we like to do most visits, enjoyed a drink before ordering as we usually do but what came next was above and beyond and I have to share. We ordered our meal, and as my husband sometimes does, he ordered a rib eye and asked it to be cooked " as the chef recommendeds it". He does this all of the time...nothing more comes of it, dinner is served and it works out to be delicious most of the time. This evening there would be a different chain of events that would leave us very impressed. The bartender took it a step further, she decided to actually refer this order to The Chef... He took the time to come out to talk to us. He explained his experience cooking this choice of cut, he made a suggestion, and went into detail explaining the marbling. He offered his recommendation and we agreed. He called it "Pittsburgh Style", It was the best Ribeye we ever had, ( yes I made him share a piece ). I am sad to say we did not aquire this young man's name but we wish to recognize and commend him, not only on the result of the meal, but on his knowledge and dedication. He didn't have to take that extra step, but he did. And to our server/bartender...Kudos!

The ambiance was very nice with a mixture of rustic and classy. We arrived early and planned to have a drink at the bar before our meal. The bartender was.... less than experienced. I ordered one of their signature drinks and even with the recipe book and someone else assisting him he managed to mess it up and forget a key item for it. After realizing it he did promptly bring me the missing component and was very friendly, I just wish it would have been correct to begin with. The staff asked if we wanted to see a menu to plan our dinner while we waited so we took advantage of that. Unfortunately, they gave us incorrect information about the version of the menu that was available to order from. It ended up not being helpful to look and plan early since we couldn't get what we saw ahead of time. Our hostess and waitress on the restaurant side was incredible. She was prompt, friendly, patient, and eager to please. We ordered the sirloin meals with a couple sides each and the Caesar salad for a starter. The salad was phenomenal! It kept us excited for our upcoming meal. The problem was the steak, which is pretty unfortunate at a steakhouse. I ordered medium and my husband ordered medium rare, but even after sending the steaks back twice each they were not correct. His steak was raw still and mine was rare. The server knew there was an issue because when she put the plates down she had us cut into the steaks to check their doneness both times and insisted she bring them back to get them right. She offered to bring new sides out as well so they'd be fresh when we had our properly cooked steaks as well. Again, she was great. She did what she could to remedy the situation. Unfortunately, by the time the steaks came back wrong twice we were not willing to give it another shot. The restaurant was pretty slow since it was a Monday, so I don't understand how the steaks could be sent out the wrong doneness twice. Either someone was new or they didn't care. The waitress went to get the manager for us, but they never came out to talk to us. It seemed like the least they could do to at least talk to us about the experience. Our meal was comped but we tipped the waitress healthily anyway because she really did try to make things right, she just wasn't the cook and couldn't fix the real issue. The experience was pretty lackluster for my birthday meal. It was memorable in the wrong way. I didn't even get a birthday dessert! We had to go to DQ for ice cream to have a birthday treat.

I recently stopped by their location in Bozeman, Montana and picked up enough tea to excite Paul Revere. I spent over 30 minutes exploring their well stocked inventory of tea and spices. The teas are sold in a loose leaf form, which happens to be my favorite. They have sleepy time teas, highly caffeinated options, and even some mushroom based. The other half of the store is filled with different spices and rubs for all your cooking needs. This is also a great spot to pick up accessories for your tea-loving friend. There's bookmarks, tea cups, and even those small animals that change colors when tea is poured on them. I wanted one of everything. I ended up snagging a cute light blue tea cup that has a built in filter, banana sugar, chocolate mushroom tea, and a strawberry white tea. I also grabbed a ranch rub and a garlic aioli seasoning to experiment with at home. Can't wait to sample all my new goodies.

It's not all just spice blends where some Montanan thinks, "Eh- this is what Cajun spice tastes like." Instead, it's mainly the raw spice ingredients. I love that they get nerdy with it- they had about 8 different types of paprika, with a little sign that lets you know where it's from, what it tastes like, what you're going to pay. You're free to open the jars and take a sniff. If you're cooking in Bozeman, and need just a pinch of some obscure spice, this is a good place to go so you don't have to buy a whole bottle and waste it. They have such large jars of spices, and such a huge variety, you have to wonder about the turnaround time on these spices, and how long some of these more obscure spices are sitting here. The fact that they're in glass jars is slightly worrisome, but I like seeing what's going on in all those jars. I was disappointed that they seemed to largely skim over the world of Indian spices, which are notoriously hard to figure out. The staff was busy when we went, but it gave us plenty of time to get a good look around.
