Doesn't look like your traditional coffee shop, it's a unique aesthetic. -Not super expensive, I say pretty affordable to come here. -The pastries look pretty good. They have some sandwich options and muffins. -Pretty spacious, good amount of seating Cons -I ordered a muffin and hot chocolate to enjoy in house. I asked about a certain muffin I wanted but wasn't sure what it was & server completely ignores me. And asks twice about what I wanted because they couldn't understand me or make out what I was saying (no big deal though, I'm sure the staff is making sure they hear what you want correctly). I've been craving it lately and it's so good, nice creamy almond frosting between the moist cake layers (sorry if you hate that word, but that's how cake should be). This review is going to be biased as I am traveling solo in the bitter cold of the early morning. I was looking desperately for any sort of respite from the cold (I'm from Southern California, sue me), groggy eyes, and weary legs. Most places in Chinatown were closed or didn't open on their posted times. (Thanks for nothing) I come here in the asscrack of the morning and was welcomed by beautiful classical music, a cozy yet spacious interior, and an incredibly friendly barista. One delicious cappuccino and cannoli later, I am transported from the bitter and harsh winds outside to a refuge of warmth and relief. I know it's just a cup of coffee and some sweets but after having my pizza stolen in the fridge earlier (with the box still intact to add insult to the theft), I really needed a place to sit, relax, and reset. This is a very busy and hectic coffee shop in Downtown Crossing. The busy-ness mag help explain why the very pretty space doesn't look entirely clean. It's not the deliberate mismatching of the easy chairs and other furniture or the shabby chic decor either; it's the dirty floors and order counter I'm talking about. Service was a bit slow, with one fewer staff member at the register than would have been ideal at lunchtime (and there seemed to be no one busing tables & sweeping the floors). The menu listed a nitro cold brew, but there was none available for me The regular cold brew tasted a bit over-roasted at first, but ended up being delicious as the ice began to melt. Cozy cafe near T station. It has a warm ambience and good coffee. We loved their pastries, frittata and croissants. Their chocolate croissant and almond croissants are both amazing. Place looks amazing from the outside, seems a little small.. when you get inside... Supposedly they have wifi and is a good place to work out of, but seems a little loud. How people get their work done (or serious work anyway) from places like this is the mystery of a lifetime. Kudos if you have the brain for that kind of concentration ability . UK based cafe nero is a fav of mine when I'm on that side of the pond. this outpost however brings its own masshole flair. The coffee delivers. The pastries are..um... American. The croissant from the looks alone was an affront to even the most basic of executions. The tiramisu was basic. Maybe it's cause I got in 20min before they closed. But having dude yell every 4 minutes with a live countdown until they close is very on brand for massholia. Best part is he is so eager to leave he locks the door 5min to close just incase any other last minute people want to buy something. I get it. Long day. You wanna go home. I've been there trust me. But closing time is 8pm. You can't wait 5min. You could of been breaking down and getting all the side work sorted so you can close faster. Instead this genius is more worried about not serving last minute customers coffee or pastries. Great to see a Caffè Nero here in Boston. Like Pret, they've made the leap over the Pond from the UK and are giving their competitors a strong run. I stopped in for coffee and a breakfast sandwich, choosing the Bacon Frittata sandwich to go with my double espresso. The sandwich was nicely stuffed and warmed in the press, tasty but the eggs inside it were overdone. I wouldn't have this one again. Maybe a pastry? The espresso had the right flavor and because it was served for here rather than to go, it was in a nice ceramic cup with a saucer. Nice touch. Unfortunately, because of a problem at the register, it was not served very hot. I should have said something but wasn't in the mood for it today. Next time, I'll be a bit more insistent. The seating area is comfortable with lots of comfortable places to sit, plenty of power outlets and a three hour timer on their wifi. The atmosphere of the cafe was thoughtful and inviting and seems to be a great study spot. The staff were polite and the menu left no room for improvement because there were plenty of options. The drink menu was similar and offered many classics as well as some more interesting and unique drinks. I got the dragonfruit strawberry lemonade which was good, but I could not taste the dragonfruit. My companion got the hot chocolate which was delicious. I visit daily for a hot brewed coffee. I believe it's their "Classico" blend. It's always perfect. I have also tried their cappuccino and it's consistently good as well. I haven't had many food items but the kouign amann pastry is my favorite so far. Service is usually great. Occasionally there can be a delay if you order via mobile app, but the staff responds quickly when you check in with them. Definitely recommend at least for takeout (I never sit but it looks rather cozy.). read more

Plenty of seating- can also accommodate large groups with farm tables or solo readers/workers like myself. Love the library feel with the comfy chairs and the classical music. We ordered 2 hot cappuccinos and a hot chocolate for my toddler, alongside an almond croissant for myself, a ham and cheese croissant for the little one and a bacon and cheese croissant for my other half. While the savory croissants were warmed up, my almond croissant was presented to me cold, rock hard and not too enjoyable (besides the almond filling). The savory croissants also had mushy exteriors and we prefer them with a bit more crisp. The cappuccinos contained too much milk and resembled lattes. On a good note, the space was very cozy, with a beautiful bookshelf that sectioned off the space. We asked our concierge for coffee recommendation. As much as we love Starbucks as the next person, the point of traveling is trying places we can't easily access. Caffè Nero was unquestionably the cutest! The decor, the atmosphere felt like I was having a latte in an old library with the fireplace ablaze. We loved it so much we went two days in a row. The coffee and lattes were delish. We had their classic and dark chocolate cannolis. The tiramisu was my husband's favorite, the expresso powder was definitely quality. We picked up a few sandwiches, my fave, hands down was the turkey avocado sandwich. The toasted sesame seeds on the bread added the perfect texture and taste.
