Of course, I expect no less than that in Boston. We missed the breakfast busy time so we didn't have to wait in line. I enjoyed my coffee here as well as the baked goods. The croissant was soft and crispy at the same time! We managed to snag a table and relax with our drinks. I think it depends on personal taste and preference for this place, but every single person in my group threw out their coffee within 3 sips of it. The flavor was off and the aftertaste was awful. I've never disliked a coffee so much that I was unable to finish it... so this was a first. I would never go to this place again. I have been a fan of Caffe Nero for years from my work trips to London. In fact, just a day or so before I came to this location, I visited a Nero location in London's Heathrow Airport. Yes, it is a chain, but so is the Capital Grille and they make a mean steak, so chains aren't always bad. The layout is more like a homey clubhouse or living room or maybe a library. It is a well put together space and is very inviting, with plenty of seating and high ceilings. It is the type of place you could easily spend hours just hanging around They also have outdoor seating, too. They have an assortment of coffees and teas, but I go there for the pastries - the chocolate cake to be specific. The cake is fantastic. The quality of just about everything they sell is a step above most other coffee chains in the area. In my last two visits to Boston, I've stopped in at Caffe Nero for an iced caramel latte - and they make one of the BEST! Their espresso is so smooth and it's the perfect balance of caffeine and sugar to boost your morning. The staff is great! Super helpful, efficient, and funny. I love when people seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs. The location is primo, but it's really not a place that's easily accessible by car. Inside, the vibe is very hipster meets harry potter meets library. There's lots of room to spread out or cozy up with a book. There's a wood burning stove that I imagine would be so snuggle-worthy in the winter. Definitely a good place to catch up with friends or initiate a study group. Love! Stopped here for an afternoon "pick me upper" with my friend while visiting Boston. She ordered the vanilla latte and I had the matcha latte, both with almond milk. My drink was perfectly flavored (not to sweet or bitter, which often tends to be the case at other places) and my friend really enjoyed her drink too. We ordered our drinks to go as we were walking and sight seeing around the city, but this would have been the perfect place to relax. The establishment looked so inviting and cozy. Got a tea and chocolate chip cookie to have a break between other activities and use the bathroom and wish we went anywhere else. The bathroom was a complete wreck, which is weird for a place with a code on the door. Cookie was flat and lacking chocolate (maybe 3 chips in a cookie the size of face). Downgrade. Newtonville branch no longer displays the vegan breakfast roll. They seem tense and unfriendly. Also overheard the staff saying some anti-vegan things to each other after I ordered a vegan item. Not the positive energy I've enjoyed here over the years. This place is badly in need of customer service training. In contrast the Starbucks next door is much more friendly. Unfortunately only Caffe Nero has the vegan sandwich and, to my personal tastes, better black coffee. An additional point, I do get my lattes from Starbucks bc they have soy milk which is one of my main sources or protein. I wish Caffe Nero would follow suit. Also...the vegan croissant only failed because it was labeled as vegan. It was an excellent product and it's passing leaves me with an incurable longing. Vegan labelled Oreos would have failed too. Oreos are vegan One more thing....there are three staff here at least, a long line, and only one guy at the counter running around trying to serve everyone. This really nice (black /20 year old male) made me and my boyfriend chai tea lattes and I actually copied my boyfriend and ended up not liking the milk in it and told the brewer .. but I was really just asking him for milk and he asked what was the matter and I told him and he offered to help because he understood I was just trying to be " easy " and copy someone else. The vanilla latte was pretty delicious, the foam was perfect. I have a sweet tooth, but I was pleased to find out that the latte already had some sweet in it. I didn't need to add a bag of sweetener, I would probably do it again with only a half a bag of sweetener. I grabbed a slice of apple coffee cake. It looked tasty, but when it came down to taste I got a faint taste of apple but no coffee. (A bit of a bummer there) Nevertheless, I can't wait to go back again to try to White Chocolate Mocha Hot Tea. I believe the total was less than $7. I really loved the coziness of this place. However, beware of the limited seating arrangement. I went with my friend and we had to move a chair from one end of the dining room to another. I hate giving this place a 5 star review because I don't want everyone to find out about Boston's best kept secret. Then I will not be able to get a seat at the table. Haha! Seriously, the staff are very friendly and consistently make the best coffee drinks I've had day after day. I enjoyed a blueberry muffin warmed along with an iced vanilla latte several days in a row. They have cozy seating with lots of natural light beaming in while you relax. Their menu options are plentiful to meet the needs of anyone and everyone. It is a warm atmosphere where you can easily relax, enjoy refreshments and collect your daily thoughts. A great place for a remote office for the day!!! I had an afternoon to kill while my husband was at a conference during our trip to Boston; so after exploring the city for a bit, I came here to dive into my work with a some liquid energy. The menu is super cute and expansive, however I went with a traditional cold brew. The servers were super friendly, and once I ordered - he told me to come to the register to pay, since my drink was ready in seconds. I appreciated that I didn't have to wait behind all those double-caf-half-skim people. The cold brew was good - not the strongest I've ever had, but better than most! I really like a rich full bodied cup of coffee, and this did just fine! I had just eaten a unbelievably gluttonous lunch (#lobsterroll) otherwise I might have been tempted by all their baked goods. I got my coffee, mixed in some simple sugar at the coffee station, and went out to search for a spot. I knew I was going to be staying for a while so I wanted a comfortable seat. There were super adorable 1 and 2 person booths lining the wall, which I desperately wanted but they were all full. There was also a mix between couches and overstuffed armchairs, along with a long wooden table with wooden seats. I opted for an armchair near the window (and next to an outlet). I actually rotated my seat to be solely facing the window, and almost forgot where I was when I looked up about 2 hours later. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, it's not to noisy, and people are friendly. The interior is really nicely decorated. You'll find a lot of people studying here and small groups of people just chatting over coffee. I really liked this place! I had an almond milk cappuccino and a zucchini bread. Both tasted fresh and of good quality ingredients. Obviously being downtown, I didn't see any parking close by - but we walked though so we weren't looking for one. It's not an order and go kind of place, it took them a little bit longer than normal to make the coffee. Which I'm ok with because again, that was a well done fresh cup of coffee. Terrible management, rude to customer, not a kids friendly place. I had a bite on my cake and had to use bathroom to change my baby's diaper. When I came back, they cleared up my table , clears up my plate of cake, includes my bag of half aten donuts. Well, I can take that, but when I went to the manager to complain the situation, his attitude was supper rude. Very short response, no eyes contact and I watching him picked up another piece of cake with full anger and attitude. When I confront him with his attitude problem, his response was he already gave me another cake and I caught him off guard, what else do I want?
