This little spot is a cute, has a decent amount of seating, and has a very large menu. The coffee was meh - I tried the gingerbread latte, and it just wasn't great espresso nor a nicely balanced flavoring. I had the avocado toast, which was packed with avocado and egg, and my friend had the honey toast with strawberries. We enjoyed both but agreed neither were special. Wouldn't be a bad place to pop into if I'm in the area, but I'm not making a special trip. read more

Stopped by and looks can be deceiving. Absolutely charming vibe inside with so many little sweets to have for the morning. Unfortunately I didn't partake but had a recommend Latte and frappe. Great smoothie - food looks great too. Their menu is huge and doesn't really go well together. Very busy! Food looks yummy! They don't honor their check in freebie. Got the salmon cream cheese bagel and had to ask for all the "extras". I'm confused as to why they have a lox bagel picture on their menu but don't actually offer said item. The mushroom and avocado toast is pretty good. Coffee drinks are good. Their teas are a bit too watered down. read more

If you're going to just get coffee or a specialty drink, this is your place. I've ordered coffee here several times and am always pleased. The regular meals leave A LOT to be desired. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and it was a waste of money. No flavor, rubbery chicken, generic cheese - just no. Also, service was lackluster. It's convenient if you're staying at a nearby hotel. read more

I like the Caffe Bene. I have eaten here several times. It's a small place with a few tables and a window bar you can sit and people watch. I usually have the breakfast pate#3. And get an everything bagel extra toasted to go. The breakfast plate has scrambled eggs, Tatar tots, sausage and a plain croissant. It's good. The sausage are over cooked most times but I don't eat sausage. Their croissants are Buttery and flaky. The bagels are fresh. read more

Grabbed a quick breakfast before heading to the airport. Didn't expect much but it was pretty good. My friend got the bagel egg and cheese and said it was the best bagel she'd had in New York. I got the ham and cheese croissant and it hit the spot for sure. The smoothie was super sweet so not really to my liking. I imagine they add sugar but that's on me for not asking. read more

Found this spot & it's currently my favorite cafe. Love that it has many outlets to charge my devices & can work on my laptop. I had a bacon egg & cheese on a plain bagel. I love that they use maple bacon giving it a sweet flavor. Had it with an iced coffee with oat milk. They also have almond milk which is good for my non dairy folks like me. The second time i visited I had a dirty chai with a slice of cookies & cream cake. It was smooth & melted in your mouth. So good. They do have a lot to offer from boba, ice cream, pasta & sandwiches. Just not that good. I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich. They served it on a bagel, and the sausage was not a breakfast sausage patty, but a cold, bland sausage cut up into pieces. As I ate, they fell out of the sandwich. It was frustrating. I also ordered a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, which was marginally better. With respect to both sandwiches, I was amazed that, while this restaurant is in close proximity to a variety of decent bagel stores, the bagels used here seem to be almost like grocery store Thomas's bagels. Sad. The coffee was good, though, and if you're looking just for coffee, the place isn't that bad. read more

Service is great very attentive friendly staff. Though the space is not big there were enough tables. Found that local and tourists alike came by for coffee lunch with their dogs to work for a bit. The outside view isn't great it's facing Canal. Prices are par for the area. Located near the Holland Tunnel I there are also many other businesses around. Spacious and quiet place in the back. Good for studying which is what I came to do. They're menu is super long which is different from other Caffe Benes. They have breakfast, wings, dinner, coffee, tea and smoothies. I was so surprised when I saw wings so I got some. Definitely on the more expensive side though. read more

This is a pretty sweet spot on Canal street. I stopped in and did the smore hot chocolate. As far as taste it was pretty darn good however the issue I had with it was that it wasn't hot. The whole experience of hot chocolate for me is taste and sipping it while it's hot and waiting for it to cool. Like I said it was served to me pretty warm/coolish but it tasted good. You can really taste the s'mores throughout every sip. The service wasn't bad at all. The guy working the front was friendly and pretty quick as he was working alone. I will definitely visit again as the food and desserts they have look absolutely amazing. read more

Would love to give this a higher review, but it was a messy visit. Ordered 4 drinks, which were handed to me unlabeled, so it creates confusion on who got what. In addition, the drinks are poured quite full, so for carry out, the spillage rate is high (spilled a ton of matcha on myself). Would suggest that they provide to-go protectors, label their drinks, and a bit more organization. On the positive side, their almond latte is 4/5. read more

I was super hyped to visit this caffe bene because realizing it exists in NYC gave me such nostalgia for when I regularly visited a caffe bene in Korea during the summers while growing up. I was disappointed, to say the least. The menu and interior of the place gave very similar vibes to what I've experienced in Korea. However, the food & coffee quality was, unfortunately, meh. I ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee because I wanted a nice refreshing sweet coffee -- this I would give 4/5 stars. It did the job, but I've had much better vietnamese iced coffee elsewhere. For food, I ordered a chicken sandwich (I'm forgetting the full name of it), but the menu description made it sound delicious. I was so so disappointed by the food. The bread was so stale - it completely scraped the roof of my mouth. The chicken was slimeyish and smothered in some sweet sauce, leaving an awful aftertaste in my mouth. I had like 2 bites and could not continue -- which was so disappointing because the sandwich was NOT cheap for it being something that they reheated and served. I was definitely disappointed and suggest hitting other local NYC coffee shops rather than wasting your time and money here :( read more

Peaceful, ambient, soul soothing, and most of all, great selection on drinks and food. You're saying I can have waffles at 6pm?? Sold. If that hasn't sold you then maybe try their gelatos or macaroons. The employees there will help you pick what you like and sometimes offer you their favorites. Plus like to come back for another cup of coffee and for a slice of carrot cake. Wish there was more of this franchise in other location's read more

They sell breakfast sandwiches boba, dessert, and many more we both order the big and egg and cheese in the croissant and it's very good. They have nice staff as well. Great service, really great staff! Got food to go, that was very well packed and put together. During the day, there's not much traffic, therefore you can enjoy your food in peace. Now onto the food.... this food definitely made our day! I was able to get the strawberry and banana pancakes (personally requested), and their bacon, egg, and avocado open face sandwich. The pancakes were absolutely tasteful! Don't let the picture fool you, they give out 4 stacks of pancakes which each order. The fruits tasted very fresh and honestly I wouldn't have minded getting an extra order of pancakes either. The bacon, egg, and avocado sandwich so well seasoned! I was very shocked, because usually I would have to always add salt and pepper to my eggs, but I didn't need it at all for this sandwich! Unfortunately, I was so full from the pancakes to finish the sandwich, but being able to try it so worth it! This restaurant was conveniently located only a couple blocks away from my hotel, so it became a no brainer spot to grab food from, to enjoy some nice breakfast in bed. read more

Ordered pickup from Caffe Bene via UberEats on my way back home from doing errands. I've been to Caffe Bene locations before and remembered them having a fun drink menu and my memory served me right! I spent so long on the app looking through their menu because of how many choices they have! My pickup was ready upon arrival and the employee handed me my bag through a small hole in the clear screen at the counter separating the employees and the staff. My food was fresh and they even kept my drink in the freezer so it'd stay cool! The cashier asked me if I wanted to have the drink now and helped me unpack the wrap on top of the drink so I could enjoy it on my walk home. The staff here are very thoughtful and their coffee always hits the spot! I had the honey bread this time and it wasn't my favorite but amazing regardless. Please try their cheesecake though cause omfg. Worth a visit for sure! read more

I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. I would return to Friedman's when I'm in the Herald Square area, or check out one of their other locations in the city.
