I usually stop here every time I come to Los Angeles. It's one of my favorite coffee shops. The roast hair tends to be a little darker. Which I prefer. I got here midday this time so there was no wait. The shop in the store seemed a little messier than normal so the ambience was like it typically has been and in the past, I found the service always be very very friendly today. I've been to Cafe Luxxe before, but at their Malibu location, so it had been a while since my last visit. The coffee offerings were okay. I ordered the brown sugar latte, which was good but not amazing. It had a lot of foam and, honestly, not enough coffee flavor. It ended up tasting more like sweet foam than a balanced latte. Would I come back? Probably, yes but for the price, it didn't feel worth it. If I do return, I might try the same drink again but ask for less cold foam. They have a front patio area near the sidewalk and many people brought their pets to come hang out. There's parking in the back but the spots can be a bit tight. This smaller lot is shared amongst a few businesses so please make sure to read the signs before parking, to identify which spots belong to which businesses. This is a nice stop if you want to grab a quick snack or hot beverage before walking with friends to explore this beautiful part of Santa Monica. read more

I had their special coffee with orange flavoring and an espresso-based latte infused with orange essence. The bright citrus notes paired beautifully with the richness of the espresso, and it was perfectly balanced. A must try! Parking: Street parking only, mostly metered. Depending on the time of day, you might have to circle a bit, but it's manageable. Overall: This is the kind of place you'll want to keep coming back to. Great for getting work done (with hotspot because they do no have wifi), or just posting up with a friend for a really good chat. Caffe Luxxe is an exquisite cafe and L.A.'s premiere coffee roaster. They're located in Montana ave in Santa Monica. They serve good coffee and tea drinks as well as pastries. I have drove by them a few time and finally got the chance to check-in today. I arrived early Sunday morning to grab a hot Caffe Latte and a Choco Croissant. Both items were good, however, I wish my croissant was warm. Service was spot on. Prices were a bit pricey but expected for the area. Indoor and outdoor seats were spacious. Atmosphere was relaxing. After a morning weekend walking event in Santa Monica, I stopped by Caffe Luxxe for a coffee pick-me-up. They were temporarily closed around 11 am and had a sign up that they would reopen at noon, but they ended up opening earlier when I walked by around 11:50 am. I parked at a small street around the block since part of the street parking on the main street were blocked for construction and walked to Caffe Luxxe. A line was already formed inside that almost reached the door, but they keep the line moving. I was debating between the Caffe Shakerato ($6.75 for 8 oz, which has espresso and dark chocolate) and the Caffe Nico ($7.50 for 8 oz, which has espresso and cinnamon), but ultimately decided on the Caffe Shakerato. I was appreciative that they were cool with using my reusable tumbler (as I continue on my quest to avoid disposable plastic). Went to Cafe Luxxe on an early Saturday morning for a little pick me up and the line was long! I got the vanilla creme cold brew ($7.75) and was very excited to try it. I loved how the vanilla creme top was made there with my preferred milk of choice instead of it being premade. The cold brew itself however was a bit sour with the first sip I had. The coffee was strong but for a cold brew it was over brewed unfortunately. I really loved the Vanilla Creme top! read more

I'm a huge fan of their espresso based drinks, and it's one of the cafes that consistently make their espresso well. They also feature seasonal drinks that are fun to try, and right now, The Honey Buzz is our favorite - honey shaken iced espresso with a honey cold foam top. It's not overly sweet and the honey works very well with their espresso! Their beans are also great, especially the Montenero Blend and Ethiopia Yirgacheffe. There's also a bunch of apothecary goods that are made by them and I was shocked at first, but they do smell good! Decently sized with seating inside and out. Line can get a bit long during the busy periods but baristas are efficient and helfpul! read more

My friend Conrad and I are the same in a lot of ways but we are different in one significant way: I have evolved to be a foodie and he is still in his hatchling stage. It is such a pleasure to take Conrad to places like Caffee Luxxe, in Montana (obviously the street, not the state) because I get to see the joy that a croissant induces, when it is flaky and buttery. Professors pass knowledge unto others, designers pass on wearable art, psychics pass on fortune, and I am grateful to pass on experiences that help another understand that food and drink and space create memories that start in the taste buds and end in the soul. In short, this place is not a cafe stop, it is a destination for a dining experience in the morning. I also had never gone to a cafe Luxxe and the experience was stimulating for me, and I do not mean that because I drank coffee. I also experienced something new-- someone thought I had a job that I did not have, which is not new, because over the years I have been casted as a valet, security guard, busboy, clerk at a gift shop and other varied staff members that hold perfunctory roles. But this time, I was casted as an actor. A guy complimented me on my "Luke's" shirt that was placed over a yellow cup. For those who might not know, these are emblems that are known to Gilmore Girls fans. As we sat, he kept looking at me. I offered him one of our spare seats, which in truth was a commodity as the place was packed. Conrad and I got lucky to find a table. The guy said, "were you on the show?" I said no. The refreshing way I was casted into a role left me in awe. I have my beliefs as to why he thought I was an actor, but, those do not belong on a Yelp so I will make a turn and pivot to the line. The line was long. To be fair, we were there on Sunday around 11:00 a.m. prime coffee time. So we waited, I took pictures. The place was super cute, like a dream colored steel but the steel did not feel cold, it felt like what a good cloudy day gives you when the cold is contained-- comfort in the fact that you did not have to be warmed to be happy-- which was good because when Conrad and I ordered we focused on iced coffee drinks. We did not get the name of the guy who helped us when we got to the front of the line. But he deserves his props-- even though the line was long he took the time to celebrate when I informed him it was his first time, and he had a way to work and pacify both a rookie and 20 year veteran of the foodie field. And he did all this when the line was long- I hope he gets identified because service like his matters to elevate coffee ordering to a customer experience revolving around coffee. Conrad asked, "give me something relating to a Vanilla iced coffee." I internally cringed. That question was asking a cake maker of known frosting, he can make something close to a jelly donut. But to continue this metaphor the baker did not smirk or chuckle veiling condescension (which is what I feared) instead he offered a recently fresh beignet with raspberry compote, where the berries were picked from the facility's rooftop garden, and was dusted with edible silver. I jumped into the roaster's response: he offered Conrad an iced coffee with anniversary blend, and some vanilla. I did not understand the exact words but I heard some of them and knew this was a respectful response to Conrad's broad request. He was a professional. I also ordered a croissant for Conrad, and a blueberry muffin for me, and also two lemon squares, and I also ordered a Shakerato. I wanted to try the menu. The professional roaster told me that the joint did not have blenders thus this was their response to a blended drink, like a frappuccino but here. Another roaster shook two coffee cups together to make the drink. Yes, it gave a person making a Margarita at a bar. But the result was a balanced marriage of coffee (a shot of espresso?) and coffee. It was deeply sweet-- and it had a chocolate ring. It was the type of drink that is perfect for an adult, who has learned that the sweetness of cookies and cakes from the store are cloying. Meaning that the goodness of this drink was a novelty to me, as soon as I finished it I knew I needed a new one. This place had everything I could ever want from a morning coffee stop. It helped me enjoy what I sip, it helped engage in what I saw, and it made me feel like I was a customer who was appreciated in a busy moment, instead of a customer who needed to be moved along cause the line was stacked. That dime cost you an extra cup (over 5 cents), a lost LONG TERM customer, and this delightful review. BTW, I'm at the BCM 2x per week, and went to the PCH Malibu store yesterday. They are great. I knew about this cute little café, because I actually interviewed here for a job and met the very kind owner who was inspired by his travels in Italy, and wanted to open up a coffee shop that could compare to the high-quality espresso and espresso based drinks served in bars ( what Italians call cafés ) in Italy . I forget which drink I got her, but I remember the tears of joy swelling up in her eyes as she thanked me and told me that it was the closest thing that reminded her of home in a very long time. Less sunshine but an atmosphere conducive to conversation. The pastry case was a little low since we were post-morning rush, but they had a veggie quiche left which they warmed up for me and delivered to our table. It was piping hot, so please note you might burn your mouth if you rush into that one. Gibraltar was well crafted by a surly barista. We had two separate orders with two separate baristas, and it was like night and day. Not in terms of quality of beverage, but just personably. I walked in here for a Yelp event and was shocked to see how cute this place is. It's a cozy coffee shop, with just enough space to make you feel like your away in an intimate setting. I noticed people sitting outside sipping coffee and pounding away on their computers, everyone looks pretty happy and relieved. Upon entering the coffee shop I was greeted by a happy young lady. I'm an absolute lover and fan of caffe luxxe but this location was meh. Both the caramel macchiato and mocha were not to drool for. They were very watered down, not hot, even though they were freshly made and too sweet. I usually crave each and every drop but they were not worth the calories and price. Disappointed. On the plus side though, the interior is extremely cute. The decor is very nice. They also sell pastries, vinegar etc from Italy, greeting cards. Restrooms available.
