Great French toast. Best cappuccino in town. Homemade desserts to die for. A must place to go for breakfast or lunch. My only recommendation would be a number system so servers are not walking around saying name out loud. Wish place was bigger! It's quant though. Otherwise a total thumbs up!! read more

The cafe is fine, but the place is in need of a serious paint job and a redo of the floor-sand and varnish. The place is a nice stop for a healthy snack or quick bite. Risotto is not the same they are not using Arborio rice but long grain rice with a soupy broth. Things need a perking up to bring it back to a fresh life again. read more

Had lunch here with a (new) friend Monday, and it's that visit which I'm reviewing though I'll confess that I'm harking back to years of eating here sporadically. We both ended up ordering the turkey sandwich, though I had it on bread and she had it over greens. Good sandwiches and soups, with a selection of pastries. Inside, the restaurant's a bit noisy and cramped, so we ended up sitting outside--thankfully it was 70 degrees or thereabouts. Overall, I'd recommend this for takeaway--the bluff's only a block away, with plenty of seating. read more

I live near Detroit, MI but have family here on the west side and visit frequently. Look forward to Caffe Tosi each visit- I've never found a better coffee shop, anywhere. It is absolutely worth the three hour drive. Their service, food, drinks, and atmosphere are fantastic, and the prices are very reasonable. So disappointing on so many fronts. Out of croissants at 11am on a weekday. They do not put salt or pepper in their eggs. So they are tasteless. They got my order wrong & put cheese & ham on my sandwich. When I had them remake it, I asked for pesto. Sandwich came over loaded with the most tasteless pesto ever. Not sure what herbs they used, but it certainly wasn't fresh basil. No lemon or Parmesan flavor either. Also they were out of ketchup- really? Prices are in line with a nice Chgo breakfast spot- which this is not. I wish I would have realized that the South Bend Chocolate Shop next door has breakfast options at a fraction of the price that proved to be much better than Tossi. read more

They dont serve any breakfast items after 12 which is nuts because half the items are breakfast and or brunch items. How hard is it to make 2 eggs at 3pm. They get an extra star because their employees were nice and friendly even though i could not eat here. Also if you stop serving something at a certain time put it on your menu so i am not wasting time looking at your menu to be told that i cant get that item. Especially when chocolate cafe is crushing your business. read more

The staff were very helpful and polite when I had to stop them after I placed my order, not realizing the Caesar salad that I ordered without croutons included a pile pasta, which I cannot consume because of my Celiac disease. I felt sick to my stomach the next day, so I'm guessing the person preparing my salad simply removed the pasta that was in contact with my lettuce, instead of using a fresh batch of lettuce. They may need more training on cross-contamination, or just let customers know that there are no gluten-free options--most of their dishes rely on baked goods--I can understand that. Additionally, I think if you charge that much for a salad (no reduction in price for having the pasta and croutons omitted), the turkey should be chopped from turkey breast, not bouncy, processed cubes. The baked goods look wonderful, and my vegan sister-in-law said they had a good sandwich option for her. The coffee is far better than what is served at the neighboring business, and they do their best to keep the line moving. If you have Celiac though, this place may just make you sad for the good old days when you could eat all those lovely things. read more

After my wife was done in all of the boutiques, we found Café Tosi. If this place wasn't on a side street and hard to see it would be jammed packed, open to close. I just love Tosis. I have been coming here since high school and always make a point of going when I'm home visiting my parents from Chicago. The scene is very welcoming and comfortable. You want to sit and talk or read for hours. And you can with the Illy coffee served and Republic Teas. I always get the Smoked Turkey with no cheese which is always amazing. The Bit of Swiss pastries and bread along with the salads and classic Minestrone soup. I miss this place when I'm gone and have yet to find a better sandwich in Chicago. read more

They have pretty good food, I've been there twice. The second time was better than the first. The food seems to be plain to me. Something I don't remember once I leave to where I crave to have it again. The prices are okay, wish the drinks were bigger. Nice place overall. Sometimes it feels like it isn't clean. Super nice folks, fast service, and some nice vegetarian and vegan options. I had the Vegetarian Muffaletta the first day, and their fabled Minestrone soup the second. The Minestrone is in fact Vegan, made only with white beans, potatoes, veggies and herbs/spices. Their house croutons are a good addition to the soup (complete protein when combined with the beans). Third time I visited, I got the warm goat cheese salad. I envisioned some cheese crumbles on a cold salad of spinach and grilled veggies, but what I got was a mound of hot grilled veggies and walnuts, covered in enough melted goat cheese for a pizza, all on a bed of spinach tossed in a nice balsamic. Delicious, but I had to take half of it home, and it made dinner as well as lunch. Oh, and it included soup (a bracing cold gazpacho). All for about $12. read more

If you're looking for a local cafe in St. Joe this is absolutely the place! The Cafe Borgia (espresso, chocolate milk, and orange) comes highly recommended! Last time we were in we picked up some minestrone soup, spinach cheese puffs, and eggplant lasagna. The minestrone soup wasn't traditional (it had a lot of beans) but with the croutons it was super tasty! I wasn't as big of a fan of the eggplant lasagna because it was very rich. We frequent this cafe whenever we are in St Joe, they have some of the best coffee I have ever had. I love their breakfast croissant sandwiches and their baked goods are fantastic. We have also tried several of their deli style salads, the couscous salad, pea and pesto salad and their quinoa salads are a few of our favorites. We ate here on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered the muffaletta with a side of the antipasta and the turkey and egg croissante with a side of the farrow salad. All were excellent. The muffaletta was filled with cold cuts and a flavorful olive salad rich with what I would surmise were kalamata olives and other flavorful olives. Never did the bread overpower or mask the flavors. The antipasta was a also great, loaded with marinated mushrooms and artichoke hearts. The croissant had one of the fluffiest scrambled eggs on it I have ever seen come from restaurant kitchen. It was combined with turkey and swiss cheese. Wife couldn't stop praising it or the farrow salad. This small eatery will be a do again when we return to St. Joseph next year on our two trips there. read more
