This place has great coffee and great vibes. We're from out of town but have already come back twice. This time, I got the pumpkin spice latte and it was delicious. The (bad pop) music is too loud, not suited for a coffee place that prices its coffee at a premium. Seats aren't comfortable (No comfy corner) and, more critically, the cafe is bad -- over-roasted à la Starbucks (supposedly a medium roast). Just plain bad, which is a no-no in Portland. A disappointment considering that the architecture of the place is very pleasing and staff's friendly. All eyes, no substance. read more

My new favorite downtown cafe. A hidden gem! It's a very clean and modern look so if you're looking for a more comfy, cozy coffee shop - keep searching. This is a good place to bring your laptop and get some work done. There's one or two big tables for parties bigger than 3, but for the most part this is the ideal place for 1 or 2. Had their lavender latte and was pleasantly surprised. The lavender was subtle. Love their coffee. They also have seasonal pastries. I noticed a lot of people get breakfast here. After visiting Portland Art Museum; my mom, my boyfriend and I stopped by Caffe Umbria for some afternoon coffee. We had spotted Caffe Umbria during our walking tour and it looked like a cool place and so we made it a point to come back. It was indeed a cool place. The space is modern and clean. It was great for relaxing. My mom and boyfriend both got Cafe lattes while I chose Matcha latte. I loved how they had latte art here and how each latte came with a small dark chocolate. My matcha latte was excellent. It had just the right green tea tones. It had a slight hint of sweetness that made it perfect. All these lovely coffee cafes are what Portland is all about. This cafe for sure was another Portland coffee hot spot that I am so glad we got to try. read more

My and friends stumbled upon this cafe because she loved going here before! I know my good friend also come here often, so I know this place is very cute and aesthetically pleasing. The building itself was beautiful because it was an old Art Deco architecture with chandelier and potted plants at the entrance. Since it is attached to a hotel, the inside was extremely beautiful! The barista was very sweet and patient with us since it was near closing time. We had a blast enjoying our afternoon coffee and munching on croissants. Cute! I pretty much adore this coffee shop. The space is perfect, with gorgeous tile work and huge windows that let in the very best natural light. It seems like there's always a super cool and well-dressed barista behind the counter and a hip looking couple with a dog (sometimes rescue, sometimes designer) at a table out front. We originally went here for breakfast and found out they only serve that on the weekend. They did have amazing coffee and the worlds perhaps most delicious baked pastry from St. Honoré (another place worth a visit)! The coffee (as a coffee shop owner I like to think I am a certified coffee snob) was absolutely delicious. Well made, perfect temperature and milk was absolutely perfect consistency. All of the drinks I've tried here have been very yummy and the quality is excellent. I especially like the turmeric ginger chai--it has a light, creamy texture with a subtle chai flavor. Their bakery items are also really delicious, especially the lemon cupcakes. They are one of the best coffee shops I've tried in Portland, you won't regret giving them a try :-) read more

Every Friday around 3pm I find myself at Caffe Umbria. A free perfectly made latte with coconut milk starts my weekend. With a purchase of a pound of beans on Fridays, a drink is free. The barista always wanders over to the bean section to help me decide on what bag to purchase. Then he creates the most delicious latte. This dude is legit. Even when I get a to go drink, he makes a fancy milk design on the top. A piece of delicious chocolate comes with every drink. On Saturdays (especially if there is day drinking involved), I get an Americano before dinner. Same awesome quality as the latte. Plus you know a coffee shop is honest when every size Americano is around the same price. I hate how other coffee shops charge a dollar extra for 4 ounces of water. The vibe and energy at Caffe Umbria feels so good. I love this place so much! read more

I love the coffee here it's the truth. Dark roast, medium roast and light roast all are amazing. They offer baked goods the banana walnut cake is my favorite, the gelato ice cream is bomb. The staff always friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxing to chill or get work done. They have more locations but I only been to this one cause there is always parking out front not that it's free but very accessible. read more

Excellent location and friendly professional staff. But I feel this place used to have more options for food. Now it's just a couple old greasy croissants one with ham, one with turkey. They also have a few parfaits from a third-party company. Disappointing. I realize this is probably driven by the pandemic and lack of people working downtown. This location used to be part of the historical society I think. I like the transformation where they transformed an old space to a hip cafe with great lighting, eye pleasing and simple line interior. I had their cappuccino and it was good. I Didn't get a chance to try their pastry but my friends gave them thumbs up though. It has wheelchair access that's a big plus. They don't have large seating area but probably enough to accommodate about 20 customers. situated next to a hotel so I can expect to see this place gets real crowded at times. Close proximity to businesses, museum and government bureaus definitely is a good thing for this cafe. I can see myself a regular here. read more

I had to ask to order from them and the person taking my order didn't really say anything to me the whole time. I love this place it's so pretty, cute and well cared for the baristas are always very friendly and quick and everything is quality.
