We popped in super late not long before closing just to snag a coffee or two to go. Everyone there was super nice and friendly. We sat at the bar and ordered our café drinks. I got the cioccoloccino and it was delicious as always. This was my first time at this location, but I used to live around the corner from the one at Perimeter so I knew right away what I wanted to drink. We sat at the bar because it was busy. The bartender was great. Attentive and arugula salad coffee was all good. Unfortunately looking at one of the cooks yawning several times and the other cook checking his personal phone several times and without washing his hands started to cook something in a pan. He also lit a long match for some reason and then blew it out. The last gross thing was open a Gatorade and drank it in view of all the customers. All of this without washing his hands. The wait is never over 30 minutes and there's so much do look at/do while you wait for your table. Hubby and I had a hankering for coffee and dessert and of course this place came across our minds. We met up with a friend for brunch at Café Intermezzo and we had so much fun! It was nice catching up with my friend over good food and coffee. We got drinks, appetizer, and meals. Most memorable was the fluffy and flaky croissant that was so delicious. My Dutch latte was sweet and warm, just how I like it especially on that cold day. If I had to nitpick, I would say that they need bigger tables especially cause they bring out food and drinks on such big plates. Other than that, we truly enjoyed it! Our server was amazing as well. Good cakes and coffee. The downside is this location does not accept reservations and it usually has a waiting line for tables (even when there are free tables). If you accept sitting at the bar, you can enter directly without waiting. My husband and I were at the bar, we spent around 40minutes, and we could see around 8 tables empty during all this time, and we were informed that we could not use them unless we enter in the waiting line. read more

Honestly, the only thing that I don't love about this place is the time it takes to get in... but you can't blame a business for being successful. If anything, I'd love them to expand somehow, but not sure how they'd do that within Avalon. The vibe when you walk in, (remember to look up) is just awesome. You feel like you've walked into a grand palace... though space-wise, its not nearly as spacious as it seems. You don't feel crammed in at all, thanks to smaller tables and plenty of room to get around. Honestly, half of the experience is when you look around. Enjoy the culture that the management has brought front and center. As for the food, I've been here dozens of times, but have never eaten a meal here. For my son and I, it's really our coffee/tea for him and a drink for mama. We usually will nab a dessert or two from the case... they're awesome. Be patient. Give your number. Cute small cafe with a small outdoor seating area. We were told it would take 30min to seat our party of 4 around 6pm on a Saturday. It only took about 10min which was nice. The outdoor tables are pretty small so it's a little hard to get drinks and plates for 4 people. I ordered the seafood crepe and didn't really love it. Something about the taste was missing for me. My mom had the chicken crepe with spinach and absolutely loved it. The smoked salmon dish was good, but if you're sensitive to salt then you might not like it. Located in Avalon the location as a whole is pretty small. We sat outside on the covered patio which was covered and spacious. Even with the rain this was very enjoyable and was very spacious. Sense the location is so small they fill up pretty quickly and usually have a wait. We came right at open and still had a wait but we sat up at the bar and had a espresso martini. I came for a girls brunch and let me just say we FULLY indulged and had the best meal, service, and drink experience possible. We started with the Espresso Martinis( fantastic as usual),my friend had the Peach Martini ( she was looking for a sweeter drink and enjoyed it), with my meal I had the Cafe Nocciola( WOW this drink was fantastic and will be my go to drink from here on out), Turkish Coffee( not my favorite), for apps we had the Baked Brie ( outstanding I will absolutely be ordering this again), and the Italian Bruschetta ( bright and fresh), for our meals we had the Croque-Monsieur ( creamy and rich), and the Tri Colored Tortellini with chicken sausage( very yummy), and of course to finish we had to have a slice of Tiramisu( perfect as always). Our waitress was fantastic. A lot of times when sitting outside I feel like service can be slow and you can be easily forgotten but that was not the case here. We never wanted for anything. Ahhh the memories of Cafe Intermezzo. I have searched around the country for another place like this but have not found anything like it. Though the Dunwoody location will always be my favorite, I'm glad to have the Avalon location for whenever I am visiting home. It is smaller and the "tour" of cakes is not as large, but you still have the same Intermezzo experience that I have been searching for. Without even looking at the menu (QR code menus available on each table), I ordered the Cookies and Cream Cheesecake with the Cafe Giandujia (spelling?). Just a good as I remember, though I believe the slices have gotten smaller (still huge, don't worry). My best friend got the tiramisu cheesecake, which was absolutely outstanding. Glad to come home and enjoy my favorite :) read more

I've been to this location many times it's a great place for desert and a drink. The service here the past few times has always been slow so be prepared to pack your patience. I just love this place for so many reasons. It's just an amazing hangout place for any reason whether with friends, on a date or by yourself. Menu is vast so I can always try something new and everything I've had has been top notch. The great atmosphere and the consistency between every single location I've been to has been grand. Brunch time on a weekday! Easy parking in the Avalon parking decks. In the venter of the Avon around the entrance by the Gap. The wait for one person outside was 25 mins however they had a table available immediate inside so no wait. Really cool system in terms of paperless and contact less menu but also a red/ green card system in terms of servers coming to your table multiple times and letting them know if you need them. I ordered the cappuccino granita and avocado toast with a side of chicken sausage. Very filling! My coffee and food were brought out very quickly and tasted great! Great experience. The servers were extremely nice and seated us within 10 minutes after cleaning the table . since we just wanted the hot chocolate, my friend and I both went ahead and placed our orders. I got the mexican hot chocolate and my friend got the nutella. both came with a lot of cream on the top.. The order itself took quite a while, and when the hot chocolate came, it was very lukewarm. The taste was OK at that point, more of it came from the top where they added stuff rather than the actual liquid. There was more of a milk flavor than a chocolate profiled We both probably drank about half of it (at that point it was also just cold), and called it a day. I've been to intermezzo before and enjoyed their cheesecakes, which is the reason why I'm leaving three stars not two. I wouldn't come back however if you are wanting to try some of their hot chocolate or other beverages. We arrived to the avalon Café Intermezzo expecting a grand meal. Boy did this establishment deliver. We were greeted by a young man with brown curly hair and were promptly served by another young man with brown curly hair. When we saw the third brown curly haired man, we started to feel a little uneasy. As more waiters emerged from the kitchen we began to wonder if brown curly hair was a requirement to work here. We worry that these young men are dying their hair to fit the impossible standards of this establishment. As we looked around the restaurant, we loved the decor but were extremely confused by the sheet hanging from the ceiling. The images projected on to the sheet were strange -- particularly one of someone's bed (in paris?). Each time our waiter came over to our table, we were left with the taste of his cologne rather than the food. However before we received our food, our conversation was interrupted by a very public scolding of the busboy. We felt quite bad for him. We were also seated near the waiter station watching the food come out. Unfortunately, we had to witness the brown curly haired men saying sweet nothings to our drinks. We understand they were only trying to make them the best quality; however, we're concerned about the small brown curls that may have jumped into the drinks. On the other hand, our food was DELISH! The burger and rosemary potatoes were scrumptious, albeit a little greasy. The chicken Florentine crepes were exploding with flavor. It's cute cosy cafe amidst the bustling Avalon. Usually there is a waiting for like 25-45 mins. They have a cute waiting area with sofas and swings and a tiny book box. The interiors instantly transport you to Europe. The decor, music and ambience are very Eastern European. I love the vibe. Needless to say they serve amazing coffee and drinks. Their food is not bad but for the price you pay, I feel I have had better. How we, the desserts are a whole other story. My personal favorite is their tiramisu. It's almost perfection or as close as it gets in Atlanta area. My husband and I usually frequent here on weekend evening date. It's very romantic and alluring. What a disappointment! Used to go here for coffee and desert when living in Atlanta. Was recently visiting and whet over for desert after dinner at the mall across the street (midweek around 6:30pm). The outdoor mall where the Cafe is located was mostly boarded up, no one walking around. The Cafe was basically dead. Told the server we just came in for dessert and he suggested getting up from our table and checking the cake display cooler. There was probably 1/3 of the selection I remember. We selected a chocolate cake we planned to split a slice. When the server finally brought it, it was dry and seemed like it needed to be thrown out. Not wanting to blame the server, we politely asked for our check, paid our bill, and left. Service was so-so at best. My guess is this location (have been to the one in Buckhead several times) will soon be closed! They certainly deserve to go out of business... What a shame. Brunch here was quite lovely. They are very popular for their cakes and coffees but also have a great brunch and dinner menu! I had their smoked salmon egg Benedict which was very tasty. The salmon and egg was a little different to what I'm used to when I eat an egg Benedict somewhere else but it was very delicious. I also ordered their cubano latte with oat milk the coffee was strong just like I wanted! Last but not least... CAKES We ordered 4 different cake flavors: 1. Cookie and Cream cheesecake - DELICIOUS, creamy, and thick 2. original cheesecake - Soooo thick and creamy. It was good but pretty heavy 3. Tiramisu- WAY TOO DELICIOUS so soft and tasty 4. Italian creme cake - I guess this is very flavor of almond. It was a very strong flavor... I wasn't a fan at all. I don't recommend this cake. The building and atmosphere was really nice. The service was great, and our waitress was amazing. This location is in the Avalon area so parking is easy and you can do some shopping BUT just FYI, make sure to get there early or make reservations(if they do reservations) because wait time was almost 1 hour for us. The food is amazing but the counter "to go" staff was underwhelming. Let me be clear, it wasn't the lady who took the order and rang me up, rather two people (young male and female) who would not rather be anywhere else then serving guests. They saw me order food to go and I sat at a table waiting. A to go order was placed in front of them and I assumed it wasn't mine since they knew I was waiting. After another 7 ish minutes, I casually walked up and asked if that was mine. The young man, said "what did you order", not "allow me to confirm for you", etc...Once it was determined it was mine, I remarked "you saw me waiting for my order yet you couldn't bother notifying me"? He was leaning on the glass refrigerator displaying pastures as is he was hanging in living room and she was drinking out of a huge water bottle. They were so busy chatting and ignoring customers while the woman ringing me up did everything. I look inside for to go utensils and notice they are missing. I ask him for them. He hurriedly grabs them and hands them to me without saying a word. I am the one thanking him!? Can you imagine. Also. I ordered pasta which was on the dinner menu and they told me I couldn't but had done so the day before. Consistently is key. Prior to departing, I told the MOD they he was better off sending those 2 employees home and saving labor. I was RIGHT, I Uber back to my hotel and upon arrival, there is ZERO dressing! I don't know why I was so surprised given the total disregard to anticipating baseline needs. It's not surprising the manager remembered me when I called requesting dressing to be delivered to me and he personally delivered an entire new salad with the dressing which was very thoughtful. I was grateful. This is the ONLY reason I gave a 3 star. Otherwise, based on food alone it's a 5 STAR! I couldn't be happier that there's a Cafe Intermezzo at the Avalon! I no longer have to drive to Dunwoody or Midtown. Stopped by on a Saturday for brunch with the hubs. We added ourselves to their waitlist, which was 5 minutes at the time. When we arrived, the place was busy. I informed the hostess of our Yelp waitlist and she didn't seem to understand what I was talking about. We were seated immediately on their covered patio. Prior to this, I've only come to CI for dessert and coffee. It was always after dinner. I don't think I've even looked at their brunch menu before. We ordered the following: Croque-Madame $11.50 Beet Root Salad $12 Nutella-Strawberry Crêpe $9 Caramel Cappuccino $5.60 The croque-madame came with swiss, ham, bechamel, egg, and a side of potatoes. It was good and filling. The hubs ordered the salad. It was light and refreshing. The crêpe came with nutella filling and strawberries inside and on top. This is my favorite item on their menu. I almost always get it when I go to CI. The other item I always order is their caramel cap. Both were plenty sweet and delicious. Satisfies my sweet tooth everytime! We enjoyed brunch. This one is going to be a short review. All I ordered was just a caffe latte with a dessert. It was nice to change it up a bit, and especially since I've never had this before the wife treated me. We got here when it was a little busy with the afternoon rush and late enough to just begin the dinner rush. I believe those who were all here were trying to get a pick me up before the night festivities. We had about a 15 minute wait, which wasn't bad as we got to go around and check out other stores. (Quick tip: you can check in with Yelp!) When we got noticed, we went and basically as said in the second sentence: got a caffe latte and a dessert. The dessert was a bit sweet, but the caffe latte took that sweetness and toned it down with the bitterness. I often found myself drinking the coffee and then taking a bite of the cake. The cake was a double chocolate with butterscotch cream. Overall, it was a nice experience, and I believe Café Intermezzo is a good spot to take a break from all the shopping. I don't know if the entrées are as good or if I would go here to eat, but I think if you live around this area, it could be something to try out. read more
