We ordered three jambalaya's, fried okra, and the lobster dip. The dip was OK. The fried okra was tasteless, no flavor spices in the breading. The jambalaya was so soggy. It had no texture at all, even the sausage was so mushy that you couldn't tell you were chewing meat. It was the worst jambalaya we've ever had. The server seemed to not be enjoying herself that night. Two stars instead of one because the lobster dip was OK, a tasty bottled sangria, and a Cook came by with a smile on her face to ask how we were doing. read more

I'll start off with something nice. The staff there is very nice and apologetic. I ordered the Hot lobster dip. I was thinking it was chunks of lobster dipped in butter or something. I should have asked. It was a cold artichoke and I think there was some lobster in there. I asked if it was suppose to be hot but they said it was suppose to be spicy but it wasn't. I also ordered the jambalaya it didn't come on rice which was no big deal they brought some. Then I noticed there was no shrimp or sausage in it. Only a few small pieces of chicken. A little shop on the corner from the 49th Street Brewery. The Cajun Corner has a limited menu but what a nice menu it is! All the New Orleans favorites plus a very nice selection of beers - all Alaskan Brewers including my favorite Alaskan Brewing Co. The mugs the beer comes in are chilled and hold the temperature of the beers. This little cafe is very intimate, quiet and bright with wonderful sun. If the music gets loud the owner will gladly tune it down. Easy to get to when downtown and I noticed still has a table or two available at lunch - so no waiting. Customers seem courteous and not loud. No larger parties when I have been there. Superior place for a one person quick lunch, friends lunch, client lunch -also has take out. For several people there is a Cajun Corner Platter that is $160.00 & a Family size platter. Now do not cringe as I dare you to purchase the ingredients to make at home and do as good a job for the price. I have not had it but I did see it at another table and it was amazing. It would be appreciated if you called ahead for that one. Not required but I am sure appreciated. I have had the Jambalaya, shrimp and catfish. All made in house. Superior food and easy to take to your desk or enjoy as a stress reducer. My only negative would be the tartar sauce. It is flat and tasteless. My wife and I ordered take out from this restaurant and our experience was quite disappointing to say the least For one, both the Facebook as well as Yelp page say you are open at 5pm (according to the staff they aren't, when I called at 5 I was told to call back at 6). So when we called at 6, I was told the food would be ready in 30 minutes which is completely fair for the dinner time rush on a Monday night. I got there around 6:30 to see if the food was ready - it wasn't. So I was told to hang out outside and they will let me know when it's done. Another 30 minutes go by and not a peep. So I went inside and another lady told me that my food has BEEN ready and they were waiting for ME to come and get it.... Excuse me? There is some serious miscommunication going on in that restaurant, I really hope that gets addressed. As far as the food itself, how do you undercook steamed rice? We had crunchy steamed rice with the gumbo and crunchy rice in the jambalaya. I understand that this is a new restaurant that's just starting up but you CANT serve undercooked steamed rice to customers who are paying you as much as you're asking. To add insult to injury, the portion sizes were absolutely abysmal on both the seafood gumbo and the jambalaya... Do not make the mistake of coming here starving like we did. The seasoning on the gumbo was decent but a bit heavy on the salt. The jambalaya was very basic and lacked creativity. Also, can you guys please get better containers or at least wrap them for take out orders? The gumbo spilled all over everything that was in my bag on the way home. read more

Oh my gosh, so good. Who would've thought you can get awesome beans & rice with andouille sausage in Anchorage. A guy at a different table had the king crab legs. Pricey, but they were huge. I'm pretty sure we're making a 2nd trip & having the crab legs. Came downtown for some fabulous cajun catfish and was not disappointed! My Husband ordered the jambalaya with white rice while our friend and I ordered the fried catfish with red beans and rice. The starter was lobster dip with a charred garlic bread. Everything was seasoned to perfection, served fresh and hot. Our beers and sodas were served in frosty mugs and complimented our dinner. The owner, Shannon was a doll and very attentive to these diners needs and wants. The decor is adorable, well appointed and extremely clean!! What a gorgeous little spot to eat great food, enjoy cold drinks and enjoy looking out the huge windows to watch all the people of Anchorage milling about. Will definitely be returning. This place is always sooooo packed and now I see why. The wait was a bit longer than expected, however once we noticed everything was home cooked right in front of you, it all made sense. Be prepared to wait 20-30min for food. Nothing beats home cooked food, hard to find in Alaska. We ordered the platter of seafood. We had leftovers and of course ordered cake. We tried going to 49th Street Brewing, and there was a 2-hour wait for even the bar. We went across the street to Cajun Corner The owner was upfront that she had staffing issues and couldn't serve a big food order. But, we enjoyed her German cake, fried okra, and beers. They have a good cross-section of craft beers in Anchorage. The owner was lovely, and I hope when I'm in Anchorage again to try her full menu! read more

Go early. Their jambalaya will likely sell out if you don't get there before 6:00. Also, service is sketchy. I ordered shrimp and fries. After finishing my shrimp I asked my waitress where the fries were and she said, "I wasn't sure if you still wanted those." Hmmmm. Last we spoke I clearly said, I would like the shrimp AND the fries. The rice should be cooked with tomatoes and andouille drips, another must element. Should not be the consistency of a soup. Shred the chicken. Lobster dip is a mess. No flavor. Cold. This place was incredible! Was originally planning on going to 49th Street Brewing but then saw Cajun Corner across the street and immediately went in. My mom and I got the Cajun Corner platter, which had king crab, crawfish, crab, potatoes, and corn on the cob. The flavors and seasoning was INCREDIBLE, and everything tasted so fresh. Visited 6/18/2021. Skip the 49th parallel, try some southern food. Cajun Corner was friendly and welcoming and has delicious food! We were lucky enough to get to try gumbo, shrimp boil, jambalaya and catfish. It was all soooo good. I really enjoyed the gumbo and the boil. The shrimp, crab and corn were just perfect! Growing up on Cajun food (Mom's family are from Louisiana) I'm not easily impressed with restaurant Cajun food. But when I tried the gumbo I knew that the chef knew what he was doing. Found out he was from Baton Rouge which explained a lot. His gumbo is the best I've had anywhere. (including New Orleans/Baton Rouge) Saw some reviews regarding the time it takes for food to be prepared and I guess if you compare to fast food it does take awhile but I enjoyed talking with the staff and cook and had no problem with the wait. It is worth the extra time. Never thought I would be able to get authentic Cajun food in Anchorage but this place is well worth putting on your list if you like Cajun food. read more

They were understaffed due to covid when we were there and the waitresses were doing so many things at once but still made it over to our table multiple times to check on how we were doing. We were almost done with the meal by the time they brought it after asking a 3rd time. They charged us the $59.99 plus her $5.00 potatoes. We should have clarified. Great place for tasty Cajun food. The owner/chef/hostess diva will charm you with her 1000 watt smile. The place is unassuming and relaxed with some terrific local beers. The food was on point. Oh yeah Anchorage! This spot is on point! Tried to go to 49th State across the street and the wait was ~35 minutes. As we stepped outside the neon signs and word "Cajun" drew us in. We order the Gumbo and a number of wings. It was great, hearty, and exactly what we needed to refuel after traveling all day. the people are nice but it isn't cajun food (I lived in south Louisiana for 20 years-- moved to Anchorage after Hurricane Katrina). The cook said she is from Portland. I think this restaurant is a form of cultural appropriation. The jambalaya isn't jambalaya that any cajun would ever make (or think of eating). If you want cajun food, don't go to cajun corner. Go to south Louisiana. Any home cook makes better, more authentic cajun food that was served at cajun corner. If you want some (almost) spicy fish and support a couple of nice gals, go to cajun corner, just don't expect cajun food. read more

One bite of Chef Patrick's jambalaya or gumbo tells you that he knows what he's doing. The andouille is home-made and brought me back home to East Texas and the bayou. If you order the buckets though, make sure you give Chef Patrick the thumbs up to kick up the spice. Give the wait staff a number on a scale of 1-10 for how much cajun you want. My experience at Cajun Corner may have been one of the most memorable and enjoyable expiernces I have ever had at a restaurant. The staff was extordanarily friendly and would go far out of their way to help you. The food was authentic true Cajun with all of the true flavors of the South.
