Have to admit this place was exactly what I wanted for a birthday dinner. We are heading home to NC from the keys. Stopped in at Augustine for a few nights, and I have wanted crab legs since key largo. Nowhere down there has them right now, so figured it may have to wait till we get to the obx to enjoy some down home boil. But found this gem and went for it. Food was amazing! The food here was really great! Loved the flavors in the crab and shrimp dinners. The service wasn't exceptional our waitress let us know it was her first day, we had to ask for our refills, she seemed overwhelmed, maybe under trained. The restaurant looks to be an old Chinese restaurant that's been revamped for seafood, bathrooms were clean. OMG was my dinner delicious! We chose to eat here because for what you spend you get a great deal of food compared to the fancier places, so I expected decent seafood. I'd also heard it was cooked and served in a bag, which I now understand is so they can season each order to the customers request with the flavors they want and the level of heat desired. I ordered combo A: 1/2 lb shrimp, 1/2 lb snow crab legs and a lobster tail in garlic butter with medium heat. It also came with 2 pieces of corn and 2 potatoes. It was perfectly cooked & seasoned. The crab legs were sweet, the shrimp tender and the lobster the best I've had in Florida. Now the bag.... One of my pet peeves with seafood boils is that it cold off too fast. Yes, they could dump out the contents of the bag for a prettier presentation, but by leaving it in the bag I was able to trap the heat and keep every last bite hot! No easy feat with over a pound of finger lickin seafood to eat! Oh my gosh I enjoyed every last bite. Dinner came with a bucket for shells, a crab cracker, gloves (which defeat the finger lickin part, a bib, and the study crab claw looking utensil that just zips right through the legs to make them even easier to eat. So, if you want unpretentious delicious seafood and you don't mind getting your hands dirty, this is the place for you! read more

After the beach, my BF and I wanted a seafood feast so we went to Cajun crab hut. We ordered 1.5 lbs blue crabs, 1 lb snow crab, 1 lb mussels, 1/2 lb shrimp and 1/2 lb clams. I told you we wanted to feast! LOL We skipped on the crawfish because they weren't live. We asked if the blue crabs were live and was told they were. When we got our food everything looked very good! Unfortunately the blue crabs were either not live or were just very overcooked cause it was pretty dry. The sauces were underwhelming and super salty. We tried the garlic butter, Cajun garlic butter and house blend. Their medium spicy could have been even lighter than a mild. The only good thing was the snow crab but I don't think I would come back if we were in the area again. Maybe we are spoiled with really good cajun sauces in CA and Texas, with fresher seafood. One of my favorite seafood places in town, and I have lived here for over 35 years. Their fried selection is always cooked to perfection and never greasy. Their specialty is the "low country boil" style and is wonderful! Get the house seasoning in the boil! Not only do we eat in there often but we have catered multiple parties with Cajun Crab Hut. We stumbled across Cajun Crab Hut after stopping by another restaurant that was not up to standards. When we pulled up there was only 1 car in the parking lot so we were skeptical if this was a decent spot to grab a bite. The Cajun Crab Hut was Very Clean!!! The host at the bar was really nice. The waiter was very hospitable and overestimate speedy service. The Food was Hot and Freshly cooked. Not over cooked and not over seasoned. My steamed oysters were good in which I order my seasoning on the side. We ordered three different seafood baskets in which they all were freshly cooked and the temperature was perfect. The hush puppies were tasty. The Cesar salad was okay, not sure if it was the lettuce or the brand of Cesar dressing that was a no for me. We were very pleased with the cleanliness, service and food. Yum yum yum!!! I can't wait to go back. While they have some fried options here, the crab boil style, seafood in a nice steamy bag is clearly the star. They have a couple combo options, but most of the menu is individual seafood types that you can order together. At first I was a bit intimidated by so many options, but it was super nice to get a seafood boil that consisted completely of my favorite picks. Oh my gosh! I honestly can't say enough great things about this hidden gem! We were visiting St. Augustine in early May, desperate for some crab legs, but every restaurant was full or closed (it was 7pm on a Tuesday). We gave up and decided to just go through a drive through, but then a food-miracle happened...we saw "Cajun Crab Hut" on the maps app. We decided to try one last seafood spot, with little hope. To our surprise, we pulled into the parking lot with just a few cars. We went inside and there were only two other tables with patrons. We were quickly seated and immediately able to place orders for drinks (they have a bar). We ordered dinner (kids had mac and cheese) and my husband and I shared some hush puppies and king crab boil with corn and potatoes. I wish I would've taken a photo, but we were starving! We devoured the food, incredibly surprised and ecstatic to have found this restaurant. It was clean (restroom was, too), servers had masks on, food was divine, and service was quick. Please support this amazing restaurant! I can't wait to return on our next trip to St. Augustine! Grab some delicious snow or king crab & a drink from the bar. You won't be disappointed!! read more

Do not order the oysters on the half shell, if you do don't get any type of sauce. They put the sauces on top, & the garlic butter will make you puke. Do not get anything fried either. They came battered & deep fried , once plate arrived i immediately told the waitress these are not sea scallops because of their size. She responded that they were, just cut in half. WTF not a dozen but half a dozen! I broke the batter shell off of it in front of her & sure enough they were cut in half & we're bay scallops! Los Guidrys Thoughts and Recommendations: - There are many different options and ways to customize your crab boil. We both ordered ours with shrimp, crab, sausage, corn and the house sauce (of course). Unfortunately the sauce is very salty. I drank a ton of water to balance out the sodium intake but it wasn't enough. I struggled to remove my rings when I got home since my fingers were so swollen. If you deal with high blood pressure, you may want to try something different. - You're also able to choose the level of spiceness. I chose mild and thought it was perfect. My husband ordered medium heat and it was a bit too spicy for him. So there is quite a jump from mild to medium. -The portions were pretty large! I couldn't finish my bag of seafood and had to take it home. - Service was great! The waitress helped explain the menu, and made sure we had the bib and gloves for protection. My wife had a craving for KING crabs and this was surprisingly one of the few places around St Augustine which we found. We also love Cajun flavors and glad we found this place. I went here tonight and ordered the make your own boil bag, as I have many times before. The waitress made a mistake and put my order in with snow crab and shrimp instead of snow crab and sausage. When I made her aware she asked how many of the shrimp did I eat. I let her know I had not eaten any and that I was ok with either taking the shrimp off or correcting the order with the sausage . She then goes to her manager to let her know. She comes back to the table with a glove on and proceeds to pick each shrimp off my plate one by one. As I was watching her grab these shrimp out of my plate I was at a loss for words. I was especially dumbfounded when she actually began to shake one of the said shrimp to make sure I "got all the spice".
