I came in for the macaroons and found out you had to special order them on most occasions as they run out quickly. Not a problem as I was able to pick up a few different cookies on that visit in order a couple dozen macaroons to try a few days later. When I picked up my macaroons they were in nice packaging none were cracked and all the flavors were delicious none were over the top or too sweet. Horrible customer service. When I was rushing to my wedding to start getting ready, I ran into their delivery person, who has their bare hand on the cake. ON my expensive cake that I spent so much on. After touching her car steering wheel, door handles and elevator buttons. Which is very unsanitary. When I approached her and asked her why, all she said was "it's wobbly" no apology or anything. When I called to tell Monique, the owner, about it, she responded with "let me call her and ask her why" when i had already told her what I had experienced. After that mishap, I was given the information from my venue that the cake was leaning, and had split somewhere, and that they had to fix it. I was obviously upset about this, and when I had called Monique had told me that she needed proof and needed a phone number to call the venue (she obviously didn't believe me) so I gave her the number of the general manager. When I called today (24 hours later) to ask about what's going on, she argued with me and refused to give me a refund because my venue had not contacted her, and had tried to tell me that her employee's hand on my cake was not unsanitary. Disgusting, rude person and place. I would NEVER EVER recommend this place to anyone. And will definitely be calling the health department. read more

Cake Art SA is my new favorite bakery! I ordered 2 dozen raspberry cupcakes with raspberry frosting and 2 dozen strawberry French macaroons for my daughters birthday party. The cupcakes were unbelievably moist and fluffy, they were beautiful and a huge hit with every one. The macaroons were light and airy, and very yummy. The service we receives in the shop was too notch. My only regret is that we didn't order more! If you are looking for a placesupply baked goods sure to wow your guests, look no further. I ordered the chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing and the lemon bar. The cake was moist but the flavor was very blah. Plus the cupcake was on the small side. The icing was gritty. The lemon bar had an ok texture not enough lemon too much powered sugar on top that became like a hard shell on the soft bar. Very disappointing on all accounts. Wasn't special in my opinion. Have had better from the box. Yes they items looks pretty but does not taste what I expected. Not worth the $6. Cupcake Couture cost more but is worth it. read more

I order cupcakes from here for a baby shower. They had tons of options to choose from maybe even too many options. I bought about 50 cupcakes in 5 different flavors and they were a big hit. My favorite flavor was the blue velvet ones I bought (she was having a boy) I got white cheese cake frosting on all of them with blue sprinkle balls. For the prize and taste I would defiantly use them again and Ive told everyone I know about this place. Only down fall bad customer service. I ordered a cake with the idea that it would look somewhat close to some photos I got off Pinterest. It didn't come close. It looked like it should be on the internet as one of those "epic fails." This was especially noticeable for very popular cartoon characters. It looked very amateur. The fondant flowers and other shapes kept falling off the cake all day. For the price paid, I was not pleased with the look of the cake. However, I will say that if I choose to go back (the cake was moist and tasty) I will give them a simple design that a 5th grader could handle and hopefully it would look presentable. All of my experiences with Cake Art have been awesome. They have enough cupcake varieties to have a different flavor a day for a month (my favorites are the Nutella and strawberry margarita). The cakes look awesome and creative and are not dry like some I've had from other bakeries. The buttercream frosting tastes homemade instead of from a can. I like to swing by to check out their creations from time to time. My jaw has dropped on too many occasions. Their fondant work is unbelievable. Basically, if you can dream up the idea, they will try their hardest to make that dream a reality. Be sure to contact them as far in advance as you can; I understand their cake calendar fills up-which is understandable considering these works of art are not coming from a factory. They are one of only a few bakeries that carry fresh made French Macarons. Their chocolate tres leches is amazing, as are their parfaits, and lemon bars and pecan bars, and cheesecake. I have yet to try their Eclairs or coconut macaroons but this chubby man will try them, and whatever other treats they offer, eventually. read more

I had a bad experience. I called & they said they could do a cake for my son's 1st bday. They never got back to me w/ a quote after I immediately emailed a picture as they requested. When I came to the store they tried to turn me away saying they were booked. After I showed them evidence that I had emailed them, I told them again I needed it on Sunday and they agreed, I paid for the cake in full. On Sunday I call & find out they are not open, no one told me this. No one had the courtesy to call on Saturday when they cake was ready for pickup. To make things better they just gave me the cake and a $40 credit, which I seriously don't want another headache. I was really expecting the cake to taste really good but honestly it was not good. this "bakery" literally destroyed my wedding reception. i sent the picture of my cake to monique october 9th. my wedding was the 17th. upon arrival to pickup my cake, it looked nothing like the picture. their response was "well we can see if we can take it apart" .... what? an hour before my reception? i think not! i proceeded to call and ask to be contacted by a manager on saturday. here it is monday and still no phone call! i call, speak to monique and act acts as if she knew nothing. you all have terrible service, someone clearly is color blind, you're unprofessional and you will never again get my business. we ended up with a brown, poorly assembled cake that wouldn't be fit for a funeral, less more a wedding! needless to say, i the cake couldn't even be served! then you have the audacity to argue with a customer after you all failed and dropped the ball! smh if i could rate you with a zero star i would. i will file a complaint and include pictures and all communication. read more

I always love to get beautiful cakes for every special occasion especially my 3 childrens birthdays. I just recently dicovered Cake Art for my last cake and it went above and beyond my expectations. I have been going to a different designer cake bakery in Stone Oak for the past six years where I spend too much money on cake for the presentation but the taste and texture is always a disappointment...... that is until I found Cake Art!! My cake was adorable with just the right amount of detail and also tasted fantastic! I came here to get a cake for my husband's birthday (last minute). I was fortunate that they had a cake in their case ready to go that was his favorite -- Carrot -- and they were super helpful in adding a few little details to it to personalize it for me! The cake was delicious and moist! While I was there I saw that they had French Macarons! I was so excited because there aren't a lot of bakeries that can pull these off. They had some seasonal flavors and they were delicious! Pumpkin, Hazelnut, and Caramel! They were so good! Perfectly crunchy on the outside and light and airy on the insde with tasty filling that was just the perfect amount! So glad I'm not limited to trips to Southern California to find good Macarons! I ordered a cake from Cake Art based on positive reviews I'd read; called the shop and over the phone I was provided a quote and within minutes a sketch was texted to my handset of a custom "Angry Birds" cake for my son's 6th birthday. That was the end of the positive experience. The day of the party, I went to pick up the cake with great anticipation of seeing the sketch come to sugary life. And it didn't disappoint...it looked nice. A gentleman told me to wait 2 hours before cutting into it because it would be hard as a rock (mind you they'd had it in a cooler that one could only assume was for hours). I'd already paid so quick transaction....walked to my car and...drop, drop, peel, fall off, come apart. No sooner had I set that cake down on the floorboard did the green piggies lose ears, fall off the cake and then the slingshot band turned a mess. The short of it, a pastry chef came to my car, tried to "fix it" but more stuff kept coming apart. She asked me if I'd had my AC on. Okay, translation: it's hot, so The cake melted from my walk to my car (approx 5 minutes from beginning of transaction to end). Whhhaattt?! This is San Antonio in late summer! Really?! Of course it's hot!!! So much for hard as a rock wait 2 hours! I walked back in and said "I don't want the cake; I want a refund!" Not one apology or empathetic statement just a receipt given to me with what seemed a desire to get me out the door so the next new customer couldn't hear my concern. They did 2 cakes for my best friends wedding. It was like one of the scenes from a stupid reality show that you think is fake. They delivered the cake without the cake stands and put the wrong decorations on one cake. The owner came and delivered the cake stands and was arguing that it wasn't his fault. He then got in yelling match with the groom and stormed off. A few minutes later he come back and tries to take the cake....on their wedding day. He proceeds to threaten to walk out with the cake and argue more with the groom. Cooler heads prevailed and the cake was left but this was the most unprofessional business owner that I have ever seen. He was a complete jerk and put a big black eye on the start to the wedding. I ordered a cake that needed to be picked up on Halloween for a birthday. I specifically gave a picture of the cake I needed, it was supposed to be a batman themed cake. When it was picked up it looked nothing like the cake should've. It was done very poorly and seemed rushed. If they had too many orders and knew that it was too much for them to handle they should've told me and not taken up the cake order just as a different cake shop did to me. If you compared my cake to all the cakes the made in the past it looked pathetic. However they said they can fix the cake and deliver it which they did and they only fixed one part of the cake which still seemed rushed and sloppy. When I called the shop back they told me they would talk to the manager and get back to me, which they never did. Not to mention they gave us the cake in a box that could not be fully closed so when we did cut it, the cake was very dry. Will not be ever using them again and will make sure to let my friends and family know to not use their service if ever in need of a custom cake. On top of everything they over charged us, I told the lady to charge the card that the deposit was made which they did and when I had the cake picked up they made that person pay as well. read more

I have to say that I was very disappointed with my cake. The thing that has always bothered me about Cake Art is the service, every time I walked into the store I felt like I was a bother and was treated so rudely. I figured maybe there work will make up for their attitude. I was completely wrong. I ordered a 3 tier birthday cake and when I arrived to pick it up, there was dents in it, the fondant was not straight at all, the lines didn't touch and you could see where they tried to fill the space and it just turned out worse. I could not tell you how terrible of a job they did. The front of the cake was okay, but the back was horrible. And Like I said, I thought their work would be better since their service is so bad.
