Okay so I'd come across this name many, many times before and never got the chance to actually try it. However, the name really caught my attention and when I was in the hospital a couple of months back, I tried it for the first time (compliments of my baby daddy)! I loved it sooooo, SO much that shortly after I was discharged, I HAD to go back & bring a friend with me lol. Now, the place in itself doesn't stand out (in my opinion) if you're driving by it. I say this because we GPS'd there & drove past it again that same day & I had completely forgotten it was there. It must be the color of the business sign, who knows... but when you go inside, I absolutely love the vintage type of vibe. Maybe it's not vintage? Idk, I don't work for HGTV lol. But it's really beautiful & has a great, calm vibe. There is a lot of options to choose from, so be prepared to rip out your hair on deciding. They even have the APS Goldbars which are AMAZING by the way. Those are actually decently priced at $2. The cupcakes, however, are a different story lol. I felt they were pretty pricey, BUT you sure as heck get what you pay for. These may be the best cupcakes I've EVER had, thus far. They're super moist, nice & soft. Perfect texture, delicious all around! The sweetness is perfect because it's not overwhelming. Of course, if you choose one with a very sweet topping that might change but I've tried quite a few and even the frosting isn't too crazy. They're truly beautiful looking cupcakes as well. These are some of the best cupcakes I've ever had, and I lived for ten years in Austin, a city that went absolutely cuckoo for cupcakes back in the early 2000's. By that I mean, I've tried a lot of cupcakes and these are up there at the top of the list. This is my second time visiting Cake Fetish since moving here from California. Both times, as many reviews have commented on, service is not super friendly. I find this pretty typical of ABQ though. However, the cupcakes are very good. I purchased three and split them (seriously) with my husband. We both agreed the chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting was up there at the top of the "best cupcake" list I'm compiling. The red velvet was a little dry and something was off about the center cream in the German Chocolate cupcake. I would definitely buy cupcakes here again...I have a small sugar problem:) read more

At Cake Fetish, they are $1.75 each or $10 for a dozen. Mini cupcakes are $6.50 a dozen. There are 12 different varieties (I think Chicago's has 6) every single day. I went to a low key wedding a couple of months ago, and instead of an expensive wedding cake, they had hundreds and hundreds of cupcakes. What a cool idea! I went back and forth with the owner to place a custom cake order. I received a quote from the owner and wanted to proceed with the deposit, etc. and never heard back from her. I tried calling the store, and instead of trying to help me, the employee simply said the owner was out of town. I was not getting a good sense from the bakery, so I tried one final time and emailed the owner. Again, no response. At this point, I had wasted enough of my time with Cake Fetish and moved on to another bakery, which worked out great for me. All of these rave reviews make me wonder if I just showed up too late to the game. We tried their cupcakes as well as a cake from there and were just not that impressed. After eating several different flavors of cupcake I have to say that the only one that really stood out was mocha. The cake we had was chocolate with chocolate frosting and raspberry filling. Pretty basic, but we like that in a cake generally. Unfortunately all of them were on the dry side and the chocolate cake did not taste very chocolaty. It was as if they did not add enough baking chocolate to the recipe or something. I felt the icing was oily and not very palatable. Something about the flavor oil I think made it a bit "off"... probably artificial flavoring... which while cost cutting is also off putting. They are adorable, which would be fantastic if I had only wanted to Look at cupcakes... The staff are friendly and helpful, and I have always been greeted warmly and treated well, never rushed or given the cold shoulder. Excellent customer service. The selection is pretty good, lots of varieties to choose from. They have daily standards as well as day of the week standards. Each season they switch up flavors so you don't get bored with what's available. Each flavor has its appeal, and there is something for everyone. I have to agree with other posters who have commented that the cake part of the cupcake is on the dry side - my advice to the owners would be to experiment with their recipes to work on a moister cake. That would really make a difference in the overall quality, as well as bump up my rating to 5 stars. Discovered this place on a family trip, shortly after really getting into my cupcake crazy. Decided to drag the whole family along to show them the wonderfulness of cupcakes. Should have tried it first on my own. Were they bad? No, not at all. They were ok. But just ok. A little dry actually, which to me, is one of the worst cupcake mistakes one can make. What sets Cake Fetish apart from other cupcake establishments is selection - Cake Fetish has it. While most cupcake places will have, at best, six different types of cupcakes on any given day, every time I've walked into Cake Fetish I've been greeted with easily a dozen different types of cupcake. The selection isn't simply a choice between chocolate, vanilla cake and variations on the same frosting - take a gander at the menu on the website, I can't even begin to keep the different names and flavors seperate. Coffee frosting, Mint chocolate, strawberry filled, strawberry banana filled, peanut butter, the list goes on... ...But how do the cupcakes taste?! Pretty good. With names like "Sleepless in Albuquerque," "Zen," and "Drama Queen" Cake Fetish is clearly not a place that takes itself too seriously. The cake has always been moist, if not uniquely notable. The frosting has great flavor, but tends to come close to supermarket oily (as opposed to bakery buttery). Oh, and the prices aren't bad, either. I thought the cupcake I ordered (grasshopper) was good, although overpriced. $2 can fly at Magnolia in New York, but not in Burque. The saddest thing about this place is the interior. They had an opportunity to create a really cute environment in which you would want to stay, order coffee, and chat with friends. Instead this place looks like a 1950s nearly bankrupt diner. After my sister introduced me to Miss Priss cupcakes in Long Beach, CA I've have a new found respect for them. The taste, the decoration, the service - basically the overall quality. Walked in this establishment which had quite a few original selections. Purchased 4 different types to taste and came out with the same conclusion. The frosting and extra sprinkles, candy on the cupcakes is to primarily compensate for the cupcake itself. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they aren't open on Sunday and didn't open until 10am. I placed an order for 3 cakes to be delivered on Valentines Day, but the recipient never received them. I do not believe this was Cake Fetish's fault - it's very likely that they were stolen off of his porch because they were delivered when he wasn't home (I was OK with this). However, when I called Cake Fetish to see if they had been delivered and we figured out that they may have been stolen off of the porch, they did not offer to remedy the situation in any way. It would have been wonderful if they would have remade and delivered the entire order (I spent over $70 on them), or at least offered a discount if I were to re-order, however they did nothing. When we talked about if the cakes were stolen, the gal on the phone simply said, "Oh yeah, I guess that's a possibility!" And I was said, "OK...," and that was that. Aside from that, Cake Fetish was attentive to detail and friendly while I ordered, and I thought that the prices were not outrageous (~20 for a custom, 4-inch diameter cake). They also had a great deal going on Valentines Specials. Despite the positives, I am disappointed that they made absolutely no attempts to remedy the situation, at least in part, and I will probably not be back. read more
