As a lover of cakes, cupcakes and any kind of baked goods, I have tried a few different places in this city and cake fetish is by far the best! The staff was so friendly and offered so much information and recommendations! I got a half dozen to take to dinner for my mom, sister and myself to try and they were all so good! Very moist, obviously made fresh. I also like that they offered cookies, gold bars, brownies and other things than just great priced cupcakes. I tried the GF vanilla cupcake in Jan 2020, it was fresh and delicious. I tried the GF chocolate cupcake March 2020, it was dry and frosting was too sweet. They use too much sugar in their frosting. I hate to say it, but this place is a complete turn off. I love cupcakes and cakes, but this place was really just a let down. The cake was so dry and crumbly, that I could barely eat it. They have only a dozen or so flavors and they weren't really anything creative. My wife made the mistake of ordering a cake from here for a friend and they really were so disappointed with it. Again, it was dry and very flavorless. The frosting tasted like it was store bought and the designs were mediocre at best. I am really disappointed in this place. And almost everyone I've talked to that has eaten here has said that the cake is dry and the cupcakes are hard to eat because they crumble so easily. DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. So sorry but this place did not live up to my expectations at all. I did not find the bakery to be especially attractive nor did the cupcakes look very enticing in the display cases. Nor were the cupcakes finely decorated (I have seen gorgeous work done on cupcakes). And then there was the flavor and texture of the product. I have to say I was not pleased at all with either. Really good cupcakes! Nice and generous frosting as well as a decent sized, very moist cake. They have all the traditional flavors plus some fancier creations. In the shop they have a few tables where you can sit and enjoy your cupcake, some coffee and the company of a few friends. Also, there are some parking spaces right outside the store. read more

It's unfortunate to see that Cake Fetish has an overall review of "three stars." This is mostly due to comments made when the company was under different management. Cake Fetish has new owners and it shows. The cupcakes are out of this world and the employees are never anything less than pleasant. They pay attention to detail and use high quality ingredients. I regularly purchase cupcakes and cakes for birthdays at my workplace. My orders are always on time and the cakes are always beautiful and fresh. The employees are professional and personable. Every time I come in, I witness the employees engage with customers in a way that demonstrates that Cake Fetish is a polished business. I was in there today and overheard a man tell an employee how much his wife loved the "elegant and incredibly delicious" birthday cake. I also saw a couple customers who appeared to be regulars come by and engage in friendly conversation with the working personnel. The Albuquerque community is lucky to have an establishment like Cake Fetish. I can't imagine why anyone would choose to take their business elsewhere. My coworkers used to purchase the company birthday cakes at Costco until I introduced them to Cake Fetish. Now, it's never a question. Cake Fetish always "takes the cake." read more

After experiencing Sprinkles in Newport Beach and The Cupcakery in Las Vegas this place does not live up to the gourmet cupcake standard. I probably should have went in and tried a few before ordering a party platter of cupcakes for $40 (shame on me). For the quality of cupcakes, they were overpriced. This place is considered the best cupcake bakery in Albuquerque and while they are not bad, they are certainly not the best I've ever had. I guess a positive is that their cakes are not too sweet and the frosting is of a reasonable amount. The cupcakes look colorful and very presentable, but the cake is on the dry side and rather pedestrian. Bringing these cupcakes to a party will make a great impression, looks wise. read more

I haven't been in to Cake Fetish for awhile until today. We usually buy the dozen mini cupcakes and those were as expected - BUT the regular cupcakes were noticeably smaller. Probably about a 1/2" shorter? I hope that their prices adjusted accordingly, but I doubt it. We visit "Small Cakes" off of Paseo del Norte sometimes and their cupcakes are taller than the average cupcake. What is up at Cake Fetish? read more

I saw a review of this in an airline magazine last year so when I visited, I had to check it out. I bought 5 different cupcakes - the Peanut Butter Cup, the Inside Out German Chocolate Cake, the Half Baked, the PB & J and the Love Monkey. The best one was definitely the Half Baked. Since then I have tried a bunch of the other flavors (my friend who lives there always brings an assortment when she comes to visit.). Standouts are the Velvet Elvis and Margarita Madness. We tend to get the mini cupcakes so that you can have more than one. read more

Pretty good cupcakes (not what is used to be a few years ago). I preferred the old montano plaza location. They have awful hours and the cupcake selection has been greatly reduced (approximately 6 flavors daily). The tables are full of crumbs and are never wiped down. The shop is located in a tiny strip mall not far from all the goodness that is ABQ Uptown and Coronado Mall. The parking is TIGHT! I wouldn't bring your full size pickup. But.... it's worth fighting for a spot. This is a locally owned bakery with seasonal delights that are straight up 505 legit.... like sopapilla cupcakes?! WHAAAAA? Yes, delicious! I gave Cake Fetish two chances, and it didn't come out on top. On my first visit I stopped at Cake Fetish right before they closed, then went out for several hours with my "Drama Queen" cupcake baking in the hot car. And so by the time I ate it, the frosting looked a little runny and sad, but the cake had a good dark chocolate flavor. But it was only good, not great - the cake was a bit dry, and due to the heat the frosting was a bit melty (although that was my own doing), and I get the feeling that the cupcake was actually better warm (or room temperature) than it was right out of the refrigerated case. So I decided I needed to give Cake Fetish a fair shake by eating the cupcakes at room temperature without baking the in a hot car first. On my second visit I bought "Velvet Elvis" (red velvet cupcake) and Boston creme, and neither was all that great. The red velvet was only so-so - nothing impressive - and the Boston creme reminded me of a Dunkin Donuts donut. And although I do love Dunkin Donuts and don't have them in SoCal, I would have gone to DD if I wanted a donut! read more

There are some serious jewels at cake fetish - when discussing their cupcakes. My personal favorite is the Lemon one, I think it's called Pucker Up. Now in terms of their cakes, they are vile. You can expect about 3 inches of fondant, by the time you pick off the fondant and get to the actual cake its abysmal at best. On another note, don't expect anything in the way of customer service. I got a gift certificate for this place so I decided to get my mom a dozen cupcakes and a jumbo cupcake for her birthday party. Wow I was honestly so impressed. I ordered three kinds of the daily cupcakes (the Chantilly, cookies and cream, and Hostess with the Mostest). My personal favorite was the Chantilly! I usually hate buttercream, but wow they have something special. The cupcake was so light and moist and the frosting was WOW! I also tried the cookies and cream and that was also good, but nothing was better than the Chantilly! For the jumbo cupcake, I ordered a chocolate cake, with cherry filling, and covered with chocolate ganache and glitter and pearl sprinkles. My mom absolutely fell in love with that cupcake! The cupcakes are moist with the right amount of sweetness and amount of frosting. The 'royale' cookies are the same. Our family has tried to come back several times a year with multiple cake orders. We love to support local businesses. We love that this place is multi-generations under one roof. We have had a 50/50 chance however of encountering a rather uninspired blond young gal. She is very unlikely to answer questions thoroughly, does not really understand that she represents the business when she steps up behind the counter to take orders. Cake Fetish gave me the wrong cake on my WEDDING day and not only did not offer to fix it told but told me I was the one that was wrong! The cake coordinator told me that it would look very similar to a picture that She showed me and it looked nothing like it! First off it was the wrong color (apparently my fault) and then I was told that our initials would look as if they were carved into a tree, they were not, they were simply written with icing on top of the tree, raised up not carved in, I am assuming this was my fault also. They did nothing to fix it I will never recommend cake fetish to anyone! When I spoke to the owner she told me "it looked good to me." Very unprofessional if you ask me. I could have went (and apparently should have) with a less expensive cake company but I put trust in Cake Fetish for my special day and they failed. read more

We are longtime devotees of Cake Fetish, so it was a no-brainer to have them do our wedding cake! First off, they were incredibly accommodating--we weren't able to be at the shop on the day they usually do cake tastings, so they arranged for a take-home tasting for us. The decision was surprisingly easy, and we settled on a banana cake with honey buttercream and a Bavarian cream filling. The cake looked more or less like the simple design we provided, with red, orange and white sugar pearls, but most importantly, it was FABULOUSLY delicious. Everywhere I go I test out cupcakes if I can so when I was in Albuqerque I was excited to try Cake Fetish. All the flavors and fun names were what drew me in. Unfortunetley, that's where it ends. First of all, the lady who works the counter was not friendly at all. I was the only customer in there and I tried to make small talk and she pretty much ignored me. Fine, at least I was going to eat a delicous chocolate cupcake I thought. Bitting into this cupcake was such a huge disappointment. The cake was cold and dry like it had been in the fridge for a few days and the frosting was thick and not a lot of flavor. I was hoping for more creaminess and sweet soft frosting. Needless to say, this is not the place to go for somones birthday cupcakes or fufill your cupcake craving. Albertson's makes better ones. read more

I've never really been to a cupcake bakery before, but this place really made me a believer. I had a raspberry and chocolate cupcake around 3:30 after a really tough day. That little pastry really perked me up and I enjoyed the service that I received. I really hope to come here more often in the future.
