I ordered a fondant style cake for my royal baby-shower. It wasn't as exact as the picture I showed them ( pink frosting was slightly darker in shade)but it still turned out beautifully. I mean for the price you pay for its great compared to some other bakery's where I got a quote and it was doubled in price. I did order the tiara myself but they also have it available for you. On Service: 1 star - My African American friend and I (Chinese) wanted to check this bakery out cuz of the high ratings and we love Indian food. There was 1 guy working the counter and it seemed like he was more concerned about chatting it up with the 2 Indian guys in front of us and then on his cell phone than helping us. It took about 5 minutes of just standing there before he acknowledged us. I ordered 3 pieces of cake, he rang me up, pushed the container of cake towards me, then puts a bag on top of the container so I could put it in the bag myself....so he could help the Indian customers behind us!! That's not good customer service. I can't tell you the last time I pulled the race card, but we really didn't feel welcomed here. Just a reminder to the guy behind the counter...your business is on Route 40, in the middle of a ton of Korean restaurants, so it's in your best interest to be nice and welcoming to everyone that walks through your door! As for the cakes - 1 star. I ordered Tiramisu (didn't taste like Tiramisu at all), Black Forest (chocolate shavings tasted like they had been sitting uncovered in the frig for about a month), and Butterscotch (didn't taste that either). All the cakes were bland and had a funny aftertaste to them. The best thing I could say about the cakes were they weren't overly sweet. I was pleasantly surprised at their street food options and cake varieties! some of their puffs were sold out which is understandable as we came an hour or so before close. I got the tiramisu cake and my wife got the Oreo cookie and cream mousse while another person got the red velvet cake in a cup. They were so bland with no taste that I didn't finish it. The cake mix like Betty Crocker is a lot better and cheaper. The red velvet cake in a cup had more frosting then cake. The Oreo mousse looked very nice but turned out there was no mousse in it but instead frosting/whipped cream. Tiramisu just had no taste. Save your taste buds for something else. read more

Excellent pastries and puffs. The chocolate, Black Forest and butterscotch are outstanding. The chicken puffs are delicious. The are often out of the puffs so call ahead. Missing one star since whoever I go there, they don't have half the menu items - this happened a few times so it isn't a matter of selling out. We ordered chicken and vegetarian burgers. They were both amazing! Usually vegetarian burgers are pretty bland, but this one was moist and perfectly seasoned. I thought the chicken burger would be a piece of chicken, but it was so much better - more like chicken with vegetables formed into a patty. One star for the taste! In the past, I have ordered cakes for birthday parties and festivals from Cakewala and occasionally stopped for chat items. Today (10/29) is my son's birthday and yesterday when I went to receive the cake, the person was talking to another Catonsville restaurant owner and damaged the top left edge of the cake while placing it inside the box. Though he did not notice, I stopped and asked him to patch it since it looked bad. He called someone from the kitchen and they took it inside. After 15 minutes wait, the box came sealed. Today, when I opened it, I was shocked to see the damage was literally untouched. They had just put it back in the box and sealed it. Not all customers are grumpy! I would have appreciated, if they had told me that they don't have the color or the material to fix it and they just managed to apply some cream, rather delivering a damaged cake for a party. What's use in it tasting good, if the birthday kid feels bad and calls it a used cake since it looks like someone had licked/tasted it? I would've reach out to them if they are not aware of it but they delivered it consciously knowing the damage. Cakewala management, please treat loyal customers with honesty. Very delicious cakes. We had a bunch of cake pieces for my bday instead of a full cake. I preferred that so that I could try out a bunch of their flavors... they were all very delicious. The frosting is what I really liked the most, and it tastes like highly quality frosting. Its not overly sweet like cheap grocery store cakes. The cake itself tastes light but very flavorful at the same time. Their cakes have layers to them, so they are all really pretty. Highly recommend trying these cakes out! read more
