Maybe even more impressive was the service - so much attention to detail, getting answers to all our picky questions (e.g. "where are the porcinis from"), and the comping our desserts un-requested when the ac dripped condensed water on us (no big deal). My husband, Gary, and I love Calabrese every time we go. We have never eaten anything there we ten't pleased with, and the service is equally extraordinary. I prefer sitting on the patio, because I love light. It is enclosed and climatized, so it is just as comfortable in the heat of Texas summer or the chill of winter as it is in springtime. This place is so good I have to write a second review. We love coming here for events, date nights or just a casual meal. I try something different every time we come and they always nail it. The Taglierini Pepati Con Gamberi is my personal favorite, but you can't go wrong with anything. They'll also make special requests not found on the menu. I came here for lunch on a work trip so it was pretty quiet in the afternoon on a Sunday. Sat outside in their enclosed patio which was really nice. Ordered the bruschetta and chicken Caesar salad. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Bruschetta bread was think and diced tomatoes on top were delicious. Only wish they had offered some balsamic vinegar to go along with the bruschetta. Came here with my family. It was a beautiful restaurant, ample room and very comfortable. Just the right setting for a nice dinner. We ordered the sea bass and the cioppino, and the pepperoni pizza for the kids. Other than a pinch of salt needed for the cioppino, everything was fantastic. For years Calabrese has shown up as a potential place to visit, but until tonight had never been. Mostly because DFW-area Italian restaurants are never top of my list since rarely do they reach the bar of what I was accustomed to from my (Italian) mother. Just to be safe, I made sure to order something very different from what she had ever made: TAGLIERINI PEPATI CON GAMBERI along with the HEARTS OF PALM salad. Dinner started with bread which was not the highlight of the meal. The "focaccia like" bread was fine, but the other bread looked nothing like the (I guess) sourdough I see from other folks photos or a rustic Italian. It had a darker brown crust and was tough / chewy in a bad way. The butter was not only minimal but served in a not very functional but nice looking dish. The red (pepper pesto?) was really good and spicy but also a tiny portion. Things vastly improved after that. The salad was delicious and had nice presentation. Sizable / shareable for a side-salad. Really liked the taglierini; shrimp was sizable, plentiful and the pasta was obviously fresh and house made. The sauce could have had a bit more flavor but it was still great. Didn't try any desserts. Ambiance is nice without being "trendy" (a good thing) but I suppose the "Instagram crowd" who value vibe more than food quality could snap a photo in front of one of the (Vespa?) scooters placed at various spots. We've driven by here many times before deciding to check it out and WOW - the inside decor and ambiance is so beautiful. This is an upscale but family friendly establishment. We've dined here on occasion and enjoyed the experience each time. The food is delicious and is one of the more authentic-tasting Italian joints in Southlake. Just tried calabrese for the first time and it was phenomenal! Didn't get pictures of every dish. However definitely recommend the focaccia bread, and calamari for apps. Tip, add the calabria peppers to the calamari. They were seasoned and crispified to perfection! I got the fettuccini Verdi Al granchio (I love crab and this did the trick for me), another got lasagna (so good), and then another at our table got the veal Marsala, subbed chicken and put it over angel hair pasta. I didn't try the Marsala, but it looked amazing when it came out! They were so accommodating to our party. Our server, Taylor was the nicest human. Couldn't recommend her enough. She was very knowledgeable. She was happy to answer any question we had due to it being our first time there. read more

Last night my wife and I dined at Calabrese. We had a wonderful experience. Our waiter, Israel, was extremely attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our dinner. This is the best Italian food we have had since moving to the Dallas area over two years ago. Be sure to try the foccacia bread as an appetizer. The crust was outstanding. The wait staff was amazing and we're happy to let us stay well after we had finished our dinner and dessert. My wife and I are definitely looking forward to returning some time soon. read more

I was hoping for a great first experience but customer service was terrible from the minute we walked in. We came early (3:45 pm), there was a ton of open tables, bar area was full and the hostess walked us outside to the patio in the cold weather to sit. There was plenty of seating inside. When we asked if we could sit inside because of the temp and patio being cold (38 degrees) she rolled her eyes and said "yeah, I guess I can figure something out." The only knock I have is that we wanted to bring a cake in from the outside and they wanted to charge us two dollars per head. We spent well over 1000 on food and wine. Had two different experiences here. One inside downstairs and the other outside upstairs. I defiantly would recommend inside, the mood is just better w/ dark lighting and all around good vibes. We love their bread, focaccia and love their tomato mozzarella salad with heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, fresh basil and a basil pesto! I have had their Orcchiette Alla Calabrese twice. Its an ear shaped pasta served with broccolini, crumbled italian sausage, slivered garlic, calabria peppers and a bit of marinara. First time I had it - it was out of this world...died and gone to heaven..one of my top meals ever.....and the second time it was not the same - no broccolini and totally different taste. I did ask if they got a new chef and the waiter got the manager and he was very apologetic and didn't know what happened. My husband has had their chicken parmesan and enjoyed it as well as their grilled salmon served with green beans and Calabria peppers, fingerling potatoes and a tasty dill sauce. On a recent work trip to Texas, the team went to Calabrese in Southlake Town Square for dinner. We reserved a room which was perfectly secluded from the hustle and bustle of the bar, but with windows that still made you feel like part of the restaurant scene, just without the noise. Despite record high temperatures and humidity, the room was nicely air conditioned. Service was excellent with attentive servers. They also quickly and seamlessly added another table to the room to provide us with that little extra elbow room that was much appreciated. They were also quick to refill drink and make wine recommendations. Most importantly, the food was fantastic. Appetizers were ordered for the table including Polpette e Parmiggiano (Meatballs), Bruschetta, Burrata e San Danielle, and Tentazione Dell'Osteria (cheese plate). The meatballs were 100% beef and while I prefer a mix of beef, pork, and veal, they were delicious. The Burrata was a table favorite and the bruschetta enjoyed, but not finished. For main courses, diners chose from various traditional Italian dishes including lasagna, orecchiette allo calabrese, bucatinia allo scoglio to fish dishes including seas scallops (Capesante) and Chileans sea bass (Cernia In Crostata Di Agrumi) and the fettuccine Verdi's al grandchio (shrimp). In the party even ordered the mussels 9Cosse in Padella) from Price Edward Island as a main course. Everyone enjoyed their food and said they would have it again, but also would want to try other items on the menu, too. Some ordered dessert (tiramisu, double chocolate cake, carrot cake and the almond pear cake). Half ate at the table and the other half took dessert in a to go box. All in all, this was a tremulously successful dinner event at a wonderful establishment. read more

Surprise date night win! Had to go out of town for a funeral and my partner surprised me with dinner at Calabrese upon my return. Such a pleasant surprise. Ambience - perfect date night ambience. Really liked the decorations and eating options, nicely decorated inside, heated patio, and an upstairs option. And the music?? We loved it, and found ourselves singing along in between our bites of food. Service - Impeccable. Our server (Eric) was nothing short of attentive but not pushy. He offered suggestions as it was our first time, and they did not disappoint. The restaurant called after our reservation to check in on our experience (apparently this is their process) and we had a slight issue and not only was the hostess attentive and apologetic but the General Manager Brian also called to offer apologies. The customer service alone will make us repeat customers. Drinks - we had a cosmo and old fashioned and they were both delicious and strong! Worth every penny!! Food - DELICIOUS! Started with calamari that was fresh and hot. The basil aioli was different but good. I had the Cioppino di Mare, the seafood was fresh and the broth flavorful. Delicious food, perfect service and a luxurious ambiance - I have loved every visit to Calabrese! This is my go to Italian spot when I have visitors in town. Calabrese never disappoints. The Rigatoni Con Pollo and Almond Pear Cake are my go to but I have also tried the Lasagna, Bistecca A La Griglia and Pollo A La Parmiggiana. Everything on the menu is flavorful and the presentation is amazing! The staff is so kind. We frequent with our 3 boys (ages 12, 3 and 1). They always make accommodations for the boys and make them feel so special. What a great experience! I came here for a coworker's birthday. I had seen the place and driven past several times, but this was my first time in. The place excelled at everything you would rate a restaurant on. When we arrived our reservations were acknowledged and we were thanked for coming in. For our appetizers, we had the focaccia and burrata. SO Good! Loved the burrata plate especially. The fog spread was the best part. The entrees we did family style and our waiter gave us great recommendations. We had a sausage and pepperoni pizza, Italian sausage shell pasta and chicken parm. Each great!
