This was a really nice spot for dinner! I treied the grilled tofu (never tried this before) and it was delicious. Accompanied with freshly sauted vegetables it made for a unique, filling and healthy meal. This place is a byob. Afterwards, we enjoyed a flourless chocolate moose dessert. I had breakfast here with a few friends. The atmosphere is very nice. We were there for a long time and it was fine, which is nice. I had 2 soft poached eggs, multi-grain toast and home fries. The eggs were perfect. I was happy. Two fritatas were ordered. They both came out burnt and dry. Caleb came out to the tables and asked how everything was - nice touch. We were honest and showed him the burnt crust/skin and told him we were disappointed. He said he would look into it...as a chef-owner should. He returned to the table with a muffin, however the fritatas were still on the bill. I think Caleb's has great potential. But...keep your eye on the food going out into the dining room. read more

The food was packed with flavor, and the place was also packed! On a Tuesday! Good thing we made reservations. We had the lobster rolls and lobster crab chowder for our apps. Both had ample amounts of lobster meat. The presentation was 5 star and beautifully laid out. (See my picts.) Then we had beef medallions and salmon. Perfectly cooked. I'd recommend you bring plenty of wine bottles because the service was a little slow, but that doesn't matter if you're enjoying your self and your company. We had dinner yesterday at Caleb's. My husband and I used to love the food served at this place and this was not our first visit. From the door we noticed an unpleasant smell, disinfectant maybe. I ordered waffles and fried chicken. The fried chicken was dry and cold and the waffles soggy. Quite different from previous visits. read more

I This restaurant is perfect in every way! The ambiance is modern and minimal, with great splashes of colorful paintings. The food- DELICIOUS! Beautifully presented! I started with a yummy Hawaiian poke bowl as an app. It came with really gorgeous chips that were a perfect complement to the dish. I ordered a salmon dish with coconut sticky rice. Another gorgeous presentation. The menu isn't huge, but totally diverse enough for anyone to be happy. My husband ordered beef tips, another -shrimp casino. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked gorgeous! The staff was delightful, and accommodating. The Chef and staff offered everyone grapefruitcello at the end if the meal that I could be happy swimming in. I cannot wait to return here!!! read more

Stopped by for breakfast this week, and was treated to excellent service, meal and ambiance all rolled into one sunny, cool autumnal morn. I couldn't ask for better weather for sitting at a deuce in the front window and having the sun through the glass warm my shoulders. Even with the diaphanous shades drawn to reduce the glare, the room was bright, white, and clearstory cheery. The dining area walls were all glass, letting in the beautiful bucolic 360 degree panoramas. I was warmly greeted and had hot strong Ellis Coffee on my table when I return from the WC. The menu had creative breakfasts on one side, and lunches on the other. They change their signature quiche and frittata daily as described by my lovely server. In addition, they offer pancakes, french toast, omelets and Caleb's Breakfast Sandwiches; with each coming in tempting varieties, like French Toast Bananas Foster, and seasonal specialties. I could have gone in any direction with all the sweet temptation, but chose their take on a sandwich made of chicken sage sausage, cheddar and two fried eggs on a soft fresh brioche roll. It came with home fried potatoes on the side. Everything was great! The sandwich arrived leaking melted cheddar onto the plate that ran into the taters. It was overloaded, and could not be contained in my hands. With each bite one of the split sausage links fell out and had to be replaced. Ultimately, I gave up on that and used knife and fork to handle what the challenged roll could not. No problem. It allowed each element to be savored separately and in combination. Although the brioche could have been stronger, I have no complaints when the result is a veritable cornucopia of delicious pieces falling to the plate and being forked up in harmony with the home fries. Those chunky tubers were excellent, too. Just enough big pieces to hold the spices tossed onto them on the grill, and small enough for well done nibs to provide a tasty crunch. They were super fine, deserving recognition via their own photo. Let's not forget the Ellis brew that was free flowing and a strong wake up/washdown for this superlative breaking of the fast. Can't speak for the other meals, but Caleb's does a might fine midweek morning repast. Maybe a few bucks more cher than non-Lahaska cafes, but so very worth the experience. read more

One of my favorite local places for weekend brunch. They have healthy options and also a fantastic crab cake benedict. The interior is very bright and cheery as well. My only complaint is that we have had less than stellar service quite a few times- the kitchen seems to get backed up quickly and the servers don't come around enough to refill coffee/see if everything is alright. Despite that, the food is always great and we still patronize Caleb's on our breakfast rotation. read more

For those of you old enough to remember this place as Oscar's Restaurant in the early 80's, it is slightly more pretentious now, think polar opposite. Think part IKEA, part creative kitchen. I agree with the reviewer that it's theme seems pretty uptight and that they could relax and make it more fun. read more

Came here with two other couples at the suggestion of our friends. The place is in a small lot right off the main drag in Lahaska near the peddler's village. Touted as a"farm to table" experience it did not disappoint. We did the prix fixe meal. This is a BYOB. Service was really good and a few of the servers were very loquacious - ok with us. Ambience is Spartan reminding me of a Scandinavian airline lounge. Food was great most of us started with gnocchi which was tasty but a bit too gummy for me. I know gnocchi comes in all shapes and sizes as well as texture but I have had better. We also got soup which was tasty. The gazpacho was very refreshing It had something unique in there that made it particularly good. For my main I got a piece of swordfish that was scrumptious. It was perfectly sized and quite moist. Plenty of bread on offer. We ordered a second basket. Very good. The restaurant was cold. The lady folk had shawls and sweaters so they were ok. We asked the waiter to cover the air vents as two were blowing directly at us. They covered the vents with menus. It worked. Dessert was good we split the ice cream and cakes offered. Owner was attentive and constantly paying attention to the dining room. Apps: Bread basket - came with this rosemary and sea salt sprinkle, good olive oil, so good. Grilled romaine lettuce - SO good and crisp and light, perfect flavor combination, like a BLT salad. Short rib grilled cheese - WTF, why have I not had this combination before??? It's amaaaazeballs. So delish, cheesy, buttery, hearty. Entree: Fish tacos - beautiful presentation, wanted to like this dish so much but it was under seasoned hence bland :( would not get again. Burger - their blend of short rib and brisket is SO GOOD. Made the burger a diff texture with amazing flavors. I loved it, didn't need much else. Fries nice and crunchy. Dessert: Flourless chocolate cake - we got espresso chip ice cream on top instead of vanilla and it was a good decision. Came with caramel drizzle, YUM. Overall: Had a great meal here! Owner was super nice, attentive, came around during he meal to see how we were doing. Love it when a chef/owner does that! We will def be back. Also BYOB is always a plus. read more

cute contemporary spot down the street from peddlers village. we stopped here for breakfast before doing some shopping. lots of windows let in the natural light. really cute local art featured along the walls as well. brunch options were very affordable (under $15) and included something for all types of diets. vegan, gluten free etc. I had the eggs benedict with slices of tender ham and a side of potatoes. mike had a bacon egg and cheese sandwich (build your own option) that also came with potatoes. my only complaint is that there were quite a few "lunch" options i.e. burgers and sandwiches, that you couldn't order until noon. so this was a true breakfast experience, not brunch. some of the burgers sounded so tasty! read more

This was our first time at Caleb's. We had a group of 8 including 2 younger boys. Ashley took care of us. She was efficient and friendly. When I wasn't sure whether to order a menu item or the pulled pork quesadilla special, she recommended the special which was very good. Two people ordered the burgers which smelled delicious when they arrived at the table. The food was good, and they have Coca Cola products. The negatives were that our group was put at a table made from two four-tops so the people in the middle were on the crack of the two joined tables which were also different heights making it tricky to balance their plates. The other negative was that it seemed cramped in the restaurant. However I think we will go back in the future because overall it was a good experience. read more

I called the manager to put a credit card in for one of my employees that was dining here. He made the night special for them and I appreciate that he spent the time and effort to execute a flawless meal. I have eaten here before and the food is awesome. The help is awesome. I stopped by Caleb's, which is a bustling American bistro located near Peddler's Village. I've been here for both breakfast and dinner, and both meals were average at best. The soups and salads were fine, but the steaks were dry, bland and tasteless. Their breakfast fare isn't much better; they have basic egg dishes and potatoes, all of which are fine without being spectacular. The reason I give only 2 stars is due to the service. The restaurant was fairly busy (though not packed), but the waitress wasn't attentive. My party had to wait 20 minutes with empty coffee cups before we got offered refills. It took another 15 minutes for the staff to clear our empty plates. We had a gift certificate for Caleb's, but it took the staff 25 minutes to complete the transaction and return the credit card. The whole time the staff suspected me of using a fraudulent card. What should've been a quick breakfast, turned into a 1.75 hour ordeal. read more

came here the other night for a birthday dinner and had a pleasant time! the inside is so cute and open windows made a very nice ambience for the summer time. we started with the poke, arugula salad and crab tacos. crab tacos were very good! crab was fresh and seasoned well. the arugula salad could have used more fruit and dressing, too much arugula and bland. the poke was good but a little too much mayo/dairy product on it for my taste. i had the steak medallions which were seasoned so well and cooked a perfect medium. the potato croquettes were also very good; nice and crispy. i tried a bite of the veal meatloaf which was surprisingly really good! the pancetta gives it a nice fatty taste that i enjoyed. the crab cakes which i had the highest hopes for let us down. i wish they were broiled, not fried. the crab was dried out on the inside and didn't taste that fresh. I love that this place is BYOB and with great service! I'll definitely be back to try more of their dishes! read more

I had been to Caleb's for breakfast when it first opened, but wanted to give dinner a try. The prices were on the high side for the ambiance, which was a bit crowded and loud. The $14 soup of the day was tasty, offering a nice blend of cauliflower, cashew and garlic flavors. But the main seafood dish course was disappointedly bland and nearly $40. Sadly, our server didn't stop in to ask how our meals were. I feel there is a great deal of hype about this restaurant. I'm still wondering why. read more

We went on the recommendation of a local (thank you Robert). Just visiting from Florida and would not hesitate to come back the next time we visit. 3 of us had burgers which were delicious and the French fries we wondered how they tasted so good. While all our starters were great, the beet salad was definitely something to write home about. Other entrees includes the Long Island duck Breast which had a fantastic smoked flavor and the cauliflower au gratin was the perfect accompaniment. The desserts we couldn't pass on as we were afraid we'd miss out and boy are we glad ! Grams pudding trio was scrumptious to the last lick. Service was knowledgeable and friendly. Chef came out to check all was good . Ambiance while a little quite when we went in at first livened up. Not sure if this was because of the wine (by the way you byob) . Love this place!! We've had brunch and dinner here several times recently, and it's always delicious. This past weekend, we hosted a brunch for 45 guests to celebrate our twin daughters' baptisms. The event coordinator, Dan, was extremely responsive and accommodating. We reserved the sunroom for a private section of the restaurant with a personalized menu and a mimosa and Bloody Mary bar (BYO alcohol!). The food at the party came out just as timely and delicious (with large portions) as it had when we had dined for brunch/dinner by ourselves. All of the staff are wonderful and very friendly, and we had an amazing time! I would highly recommend this place for a meal any time of day and definitely for special events! read more

Have to start my review by mentioning the host who seated us for dinner. My party of 6 walked in and were immediately greeted with the warmest welcome by the host who also gave us each a sample of delicious pumpkin liquor. He had a great personality and truly set the tone for our dinner! After being seated, we were quickly greeted by our server and served our bread. The bread was so warm and fresh, and they were not stingy on the amount served either -everyone got their own mini baguette! It wasn't long after ordering that our entrees came out. I ordered the tofu, and my mother ordered the salmon. Both were very similar and very tasty. I was a bit nervous that the tofu would not leave me satiated, but i was wrong! In the future I may ask for a bit more sauce on the dish since tofu itself does not have much flavor, but the glaze was a perfect combination of sweet and savory. Overall, everyone in my group enjoyed their meal and would love to come back! read more

Since my post, the owner has apologized and offered a certificate to make it up. At least he is making an attempt to make it right. However we still will not be visiting again. He needs to understand its not ok to stand in the middle of his restaurant and create a scene. Too bad...his food is decent. read more
