Just up from Dallas and was craving a little home cooked American style breakfast and I came across Caleb's American Kitchen. Got here and was greater with a smile and told to sit anywhere I'd like. I picked a cozy window seat, and my server promptly came to formally greet me. Ashley was attentive and friendly, and the food came out just as I was hoping, fresh and hot! I will say, the potatoes where slightly burnt/over cooked but they were still tasty. This place is great for just the lone foodie needing a quick fix or scalable for large groups. It's very tidy, and everything is in it's perfect spot. I have to also compliment the owner on his/her pricing of menu items, perfect! When you can get a meal like this including the coffee for $13.78, and have perfect service and atmosphere to boot, you'd be a fool to pass this place up. Also, what great hours they have, and who doesn't love brunch till noon during the weekdays. By the way, Sunday's they serve brunch all day! Came here with my daughter. This was my daughter's recommendation since she had been here before. We arrived around 11:00 so they were still serving from the breakfast menu. The interior consists of two rooms. The second room is a few steps lower than the other room. Both rooms are bright and airy. We were greeted quickly by our waitress Sydney. There was an assortment of egg dishes along with a number of pancake, waffle and French toast selections. There were also a number of specials being offered that day. I opted for the frittata special while my daughter opted for a breakfast quesadilla. The frittata was a four cheese frittata with asparagus. It was a reasonably large wedge with a serving of fresh fruit. It was very good and filling. The quesadilla must have been good since my daughter ate it all. Caleb's also serves lunch and dinner. We love the creme brûlée French toast. Unfortunately, we did not get it. This is the second time we ordered it and received plain French toast. It wasn't even hot, barely luke warm! We politely told our server about the meal. We ate it; therefore fully expected to pay for it. However. The manager brought us the check and told us to just pay for the coffee, he had taken the French toast off the bill. Then, the manager nastily said "just don't order the French toast next time". What? We explained it was our favorite. We just wanted them to make it like they used to do. The manager's attitude and the barely warm meal means we will NEVER go there again. read more

Amazing first experience at Caleb's. We had a party of 6, plus a child, and everything was perfect, from the service, to the food prep, to the timing of delivery. Walking in, it has a very modern look with a moderately-sized front room. After walking through room 1 and going down a few stairs, we entered a second room, surrounded by large windows. It happened to be rain storming while we were there and the windows helped achieve the perfect ambiance. Three adults ordered the lamb shank, I ordered the gnocchi, we had one pork chop order and one prime rib order- and also about 5 appetizers. My nephew ordered grilled cheese with fries--- which looked extremely gourmet and I actually wanted a bite. My shrimp gnocchi with pesto was extremely satisfying. The pesto was the perfect texture and the shrimp were large, tails on and perfectly cooked. I must say, aside from my dish, I also really enjoyed the pork chop, which was juicy and had a crispy exterior. BYOB cut our bill back by a lot! The only semi-negative part of our experience was, due to a storm, their credit card system was down and we had to pay the "old fashioned" way- by writing our card information down with pen and paper. Our waiter was helpful, kind, and efficient. I would love to return, when in the area. This used to be one of our favorite places to go but we will not return. My wife and I went there with friends to celebrate a birthday. The owner came out and we asked about the Limoncello he used to serve and he was very rude and obnoxious towards us. The food was ok but there are several other farm to table restaurants in the area that are much better. I would highly recommend Maize in Perkasie, the food is incredible and the staff and owner of the restaurant are much nicer and go out of there way to make you feel at home. read more

I really try not to give restaurants just one star but after thinking about the whole experience, they get one. Last night, upon entering the restaurant, the smell of fish hit me like a brick. I mentioned it to my wife but she had a cold and didn't really notice. I should have left at that point. We were seated and waited for the other couple to arrive. Still smelled like fish. Our friends finally arrived and the smelled it too. Finally, someone burnt something in the kitchen and the smell was actually a plus. I ordered the house salad which was actually good and one person in our group ordered the Ahi tuna which was also good. Three of us ordered the pasta with clams and shrimp. The only way to describe it was pasta with whole clams and chopped clam rubber with tiny limp shrimp in dishwater. We all agreed. I just had to stop eating it because of the rubber clams and dish water taste. This is an easy dish to make and I could have gone back and cooked it better myself. When they came to take our plates they saw that I didn't eat much and asked it I wanted it boxed up. I said absolutely not. The waitress came over and asked if everything was ok and I unfortunately said no. I told her what I thought of the dish. Next the cook came out and that is where they get the one star. All we wanted to do is pay and leave. We told him what we thought of the meal. I asked if the chopped clams came from a can and he said no. Then they must have been prepped last week, because they were like chopped rubber bands. They conversation became uncomfortable and prolonged. He should have just said sorry you didn't enjoy it, we'll take it off the bill and we hope you will come back and try us again. Instead, it became a protracted, uncomfortable interaction with the cook. So, not only did we not enjoy the food, the whole experience was unpleasant. We all agreed that we would not be returning. read more

We have been coming to Caleb's restaurant for years since it opened. We are local customers and always enjoyed breakfast or lunch there. We have noticed over the years the changes that took place especially in staffing although the food has been stable and satisfactory. We were there on August 1st for breakfast and noticed how the staff and service were below average. Wih all the empty tables available we were pushed into a claustrophophia inducing cubicle by the waitress in a hurry to seat two male customers (us). We moved ourselves to a more airy table, We noticed the staff was unorganized, running in circles. The maitre d' was not helpful either. We had to wait for coffee refiill. We are aware of labor shortage in food industry but this needs improvement. We are not planning to return. We believe as being two male customers, we did not get same attention if there was a woman in the party. The staff should change their attitude. read more

Valentine's Day service was not good. It took a ridiculously long time for our entrees to come out. When I finally asked where our entrees were after seeing a table who came in after us get served first, our waiter completely brushed me off. Entrees finally came out, and they were room temperature at best. Steak was just okay. By the time the lobster got served, it had gotten dry and pricked me in the throat. We had to ask for melted butter. Dessert came out literally less than 5 minutes later by one server. Went to Caleb's on a whim late Friday evening and I'm glad I did. It was a excellent experience. The restaurant itself is very modern and is full of natural light and bright colors. To be honest it kind of had a Apple store vibe to it with its modern and simple look. Another big plus for me is that it's a BYOB. What I liked Calebs did that most BYOBs don't is leave a standing wine bucket with cold ice next to the table. The food was excellent and definitely took me to flavor-town. I had the salmon with white rice marinated in coconut oil, cucumber, mango, and red bell pepper. The salmon was cooked through as I asked and the coconut rice, which I was skeptical on at first, worked well with the dish adding a layer of sweetness and texture. As if the evening couldn't get any better, at the end of the night they offered the table a complimentary mango liquor. Who doesn't like a night cap on the house! Just the right amount of home made chips to go with it. My pals had crabcakes, the chicken tacos and a big giant bacon burger and all raved about the food. There is no doubting -- great food here! What you have to put up with: We went on a beautiful summer day, like 78 degrees and no humidity, and the dining room was freezing. AC was cranked; I'm not a big fan of overusing AC. It was like a noreaster in there. And the vents don't close (I tried). Second, the staff is just not that friendly. I've been the Caleb's several times and you get the baseline decent service, no more. Not a lot of smiles and cheer going on. Too bad, with the food and clientele they have, they should be doing cartwheels in there . Service is like Denny's level. I'm a little torn on how to review Caleb's kitchen because this review is based off of two meals and two very different experiences; brunch and a dinner during restaurant week. My first time at Caleb's was for brunch. I got the Paleo Breakfast of Champions and it was phenomenal! The service was great, the food was delicious, the restaurant ambiance is refreshing and relatively kid friendly! I went this week on a Thursday for restaurant week and my meal was just OK. I'm guessing that Caleb's restaurant went with the let's make "good enough" meals and bank $30 a person route for restaurant week. I had the carrot ginger miso soup appetizer - it was bland and did not have any ginger essence to it all! It tasted like a bowl of pureed carrots. My husband started with the duck confit flatbread and while it was better than the soup it was still missing something to give it flavor. For entrees we had the lamb shank and the jambalaya. The jambalaya was really good and with the right amount of heat. The lamb shank on the other hand was again, just OK. Not very flavorful. We had great service and the owner frequently walks through the restaurant in his smock to greet folks and thanks them for visiting. I'll have to update this review when I visit Caleb's again, but based on my most recent visit, I'll never go there again on restaurant week. read more

Trendy little spot outside of new hope. I always stick to the other side of the bridge but had heard some ladies at the spa talking about Caleb's so we decided to check it out. We had a bit of a wait on Sunday morning. It was filled with families and couples of all ages. They had a large selection of both lunch and breakfast items. Breakfast is served all day long on Sundays. All items were reasonably priced. We started with the NOLA French toast. Very good but don't order as a meal. Way to sweet to eat more than one piece. I was here with my 91 year old dad, my sister who works in an upscale steak house, and my husband, the worlds biggest foodie and critic. We ALL agreed the meal was fabulous. The menu was healthy, seasonally fresh, and very intriguing/interesting but not whereas you would need a dictionary. I ordered the roast turkey club which came with perfect crispy bacon, generous amount of paper-thin turkey, ripe avocado, tasty arugula lettuce, tomato, all on a great brioche bun with a spicy but not hot aioli . The freshness, proportions, use of spices, all made for a delightful sandwich. Tia in the dining room was so warm and friendly and you can just feel that she truly cares about a customer[s] dining experience. Ample parking, clean, and beyond good and even great. We came to Calebs with a big group for a birthday dinner. I love the location right in Peddler's Village, our server was set and informative and I love the simple decor in here. To note, this place is BYOB and on Friday and Saturday nights do not plan on eating their burgers or tacos because they don't serve them. I switched it up and tried the cowboy pork chop for my entree. It was cooked really well, it's hard not to dry out pork and that did not happen. But it's also easy for pork to be a little bland, and I was hoping since this was a bone-in that it would not be the case for this dish, but sadly it was a little plain. Moving backwards, I felt the same way about my salad that I ordered, the grilled romaine. The grilled taste itself was delicious but the flavor again was missing something. My favorite part of my meal was my appetizer tuna starter, the Maui ahi tuna poke. It was sushi grade tuna, and the ginger flavor with the addition of the macadamia nuts for some crunch were awesome. The rest of the party seemed to have mixed reviews from either really enjoying their dish or just liking it like I did. But with a group of 8 without any major issues, complaints and not one negative meal, it was a good night! The plate sizes are substantial and to top it off at the end of the meal, to celebrate the birthday girl our waiter brought us out some homemade grapefruit-cello (like limoncello but with grapefruit) and it was a great end to the meal. read more
