I had an online order that emailed me to pick it up at 10:44 am. I walked in at 10:49. I greeted the waitress who was looking down at the register with a " Hello." She stated, "Yes?". I said, "I have to go order for Linda Locketfoodt." The waitress turned around and looked behind her to the bagged order on the shelf, and said, it must not ready be ready yet, and she and the other waitress that was standing behind her left. I stepped to the side and waited. I noticed a couple of waitresses come to the register and then leave. No new bagged order came out. After 10 minutes, a waiter came to the register ( without a new bagged order). I approached him to ask how long my order for Linda Lockett would be. He turned to the shelf and looked at the order that was sitting when I first came in and said, "Oh, here is your order." Disappointed, I said I told the other waitress I was there 10 minutes ago to get a pickup oder, and she looked at it and said my oder was not ready, but it was. I really wanted to give this place a higher rating because of the overall score, but at this point I dont think I can. I would love to say it earned at 3.5 rating, though. I will definitely be back to try it out again. The staff was super great and the environment is nice; I enjoyed the soft music and the art work on the walls. The reason I am only giving Calebs a 3.5 is because the food was not as good as I was hoping for. I had the stuffed french toast. The eggs and sausage on the inside tasted good, but the french toast itself was pretty disappointing. My husband had the SoCal omlette and he said it was "good, not great." I did have a taste of his hash browns and biscuit and those were great. We also split a cinnamon roll. It was nice and warm and not as bready as a lot of large cinnamon rolls are, which was nice. I was really impressed with this restaurant. With Covid rampaging our cities it is really hard to feel comfortable with eating out, but we were going to the dentist and wanted to eat. My wife found this place and we were not expecting much. But BAM, the servers were friendly (they just went gaga over our daughters) and the food was great! We went for Mother's Day at someone else's suggestion. I'd say this place was average at best. The highlight was the Roasterie coffee, but I can get that at home. Hubs had the salmon omelette...egg was dry, everything was flavorless. Couldn't taste the salmon. No salt. Hash browns were blah he said. My son ordered two eggs and bacon, which we were charged $8.99 for. I had to get that fixed. Pancake was good...they charged extra to make it chocolate chip. I had the heart health eggs...it was fine. Service was ok. We had one waiter that was friendly. Another one that seemed annoyed. Tax rate is 11.55% here too. A couple friends of my mine had tried Caleb's and recommended it to me. It is a sit down breakfast restaurant, which I'm always leery of. I appreciate severs and waitresses but I don't love halving to drop $12 or more on breakfast. (My tab at Big Biscuit one time with my son was $35...) I got the breakfast sandwich and my wife got the breakfast biscuit and my kiddos got waffles and bacon. My assessment of the quality of the food was that of a sub par diner. I wasn't expecting a diner at all. The food was mediocre at best. My sandwich didn't have cheese on it, which the menu advertised and the waiter didn't check on us after we got our food to see if we needed anything. The waffles had that "from a box" taste. I assume little pieces of cardboard mix with the flour and give it an unpleasant flavor. I won't be back. Wasn't horrible but wasn't good. This has now become my weekend breakfast stop as the food is really good home cooking, reasonably priced, and quick. The menu has almost too many options but well rounded. I have had their basic breakfast with eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, and toast. Easy but well cooked and delicious. I have also tried one omelet and pancakes and no complaints regarding food. The wait staff is sufficient. Not overly friendly and not super attentive but not a distraction to the food quality, the reasonable prices, and pace in and out the door. Popped over for lunch after visiting wonderscope next door. Wait was quick and got seated shortly after. Our server must have forgotten about us multiple times because we found ourselves waiting quite a bit throughout different times of our visit. We were never checked on after our food was eventually dropped off and one member of our parties sandwich was served with mold on it. At the end, our server continued to walk past us without bringing a check and we had to go to the front to ask to pay so we didn't have to keep waiting. First off I want to say Happy Pride Month. I feel obligated to write this review as I would never want others to experience what my wife and I did at this restaurant. We were from out of town and a relative said this place was close and they have breakfast so we went. We put our name in for myself +3 which included my wife, my son, and our uncle. We sat there and watched others be seated, many of whom arrived long, long after us. After a quick trip to the restroom with our son, my wife said the host was rude to her and that a table has been sitting over there for a while (3 adult menus and a kids menu). The host finally called my name and pointed at that table with a short "You're table is over there." She did not see us and barely looked up. This may not seem like much but it definitely felt discriminatory to us. Now, we could be wrong about this place and I hope we are. The waitress we had was very nice and could tell I was upset but assumed it was for the wait. The food was pretty good too. Maybe it was just the one person? And while this place has lots of crosses up for decor, I never want to assume that it's a religion that is not accepting of LGBTQA+. From California just passing through. Found this spot on yelp and decided to try it out. This restaurant did NOT disappoint. Everything was amazing. Coffee was soo good I actually had 3 cups of it, rather then the 1 I normally have. I had the pancake platter with blueberry pancakes. The pancakes were tasty and soft. Service was great. I am officially now a Caleb's regular. I love this place. The owner Rebecca & the manager Martin feel like family. That's the funny thing about this place... it feels comfortable like home. I always get breakfast, so I can't speak to the lunch menu... but in my opinion they have the best breakfast menu around. I love their classic style eggs Benedict, but they also have one with corn beef hash. Also, if your on a tight budget they have some really great breakfast biscuit sandwiches for $4.99 that come with potatoes and a small fruit cup. I can't recommend Caleb's enough. This is one of my favorite places for breakfast. We were waited on by Debbi. She was awesome! She explained the daily specials to us, and I opted to try the lobster omelet. It was delicious! As always, they were pretty full and there was a a really long wait to be seated. We weren't surprised because we eat here about once a week. My family opted to order food to go and eat at home. As we waited inside after ordering our meal, we noticed their porch area was open yet no one seated there. So I asked a few of the workers to speak to a manager to see if we could wait there for our to go order and one of them said, "No problem, go wait there now and I'll bring your food when it's ready." As we were waiting on the porch, a woman came to the porch and without introducing herself, motioned us to leave and then said, "We aren't seating anyone on the porch." I was startled and surprised because the previous worker spoke with such confidence that it was ok for us to wait there. "Excuse me?," I said, "I'm sorry, I'm not sure I..." She interrupted, "You need to leave the porch, we are not sitting anyone here," as she continued to motion for us to leave immediately with a look of annoyance mixed with contempt. "But we're not wanting to sit here; can we just wait here till our food is ready?" With a cold and indifferent stare, she muttered, "No." Then she tilted her head towards the door with an irritated sigh and motioned for us to hurry up and leave the porch. So I signaled my teenaged kids to come back inside. I then went straight to the ordering counter and promptly asked to have our order cancelled and to issue a full refund. Ironically enough, the same woman who rushed us off the porch had to enter the manager code to issue the refund. Knowing she was guilty, she asked no questions, she didn't look into what was wrong, nor did she ask how to she could fix the situation. I then had to break the awkward silence by mentioning that my family loves coming hear and love sending people here but the way she just treated us here was completely unprofessional and uncalled for. And as articulate and well dressed of a man as I am, my dark brown skin and my kids' light brown skin gave her the subtle subconscious permission to shoo us away from the porch like "the help" and not even think twice. I just can't help but to think that if we had way less melanin in our skin that she would've been a tad nicer and dare I say even more accommodating. I most likely won't be coming here again and definitely won't be recommending our extended networks of people who come to visit KC to come here anymore. read more
