My husband and I stumbled upon this breakfast spot on a Sunday morning since it was close to our hotel in Overland Park. The place was byustling, and we were so glad we discovered it. It felt like a local hidden gem for us out-of-towners. The staff did an amazing job turning tables quickly so everyone could be seated without much wait. The restaurant itself had a cozy, homey atmosphere that made it even more inviting. We both ordered the Flapjacks Specials. I ordered the #3 which came with french toast and my husband ordered the #1 which came with flapjacks. We loved that the specials came with a little cup of orange juice alongside the meal, which was a nice touch. Everything we tried was delicious, and we left impressed. The owner, George, is incredibly friendly. I even saw him help an elderly gentleman by guiding his arm into his jacket sleeve when he was struggling. Throughout our meal, George checked on us regularly, as did our waitress. Despite it being a busy Sunday, the service was exceptionally attentive. I ordered the corned beef hash, which came with two pancakes, eggs of choice ( i ordered scramble with cheese), and hash browns. It was the perfect portion, but the star of the meal was definitely the corned beef hash--freshly made and delicious. This place came highly recommended, and now I see why! What an easy restaurant to review. First time there, our small family at a table for 5. We were greeted by Braden our eventual server. What a joy to have a family owned business where attention to the customer is evident from start to finish. Braden is an exceptional young man with a very bright future in anything he pursues. Stumble upon this hidden gem by accident. It is now one of my favorite brunch spot. The brunch selection is incredible! We came on the day after Thanksgiving. Flapjacks has an authentic old school diner vibe. Staff is friendly and the menu is expansive. They got all your classics (black coffee, pancakes, eggs, etc.). We split an order of biscuits and gravy and a meat lovers omelette. The omelette came with pancakes and hashbrowns and was a ton of food. I came here on a Sunday morning with some friends. They were busy as most breakfast restaurants are on Sunday mornings but they were able to squeeze us in fairly quickly which was nice. We were greeted right away by both the hostess and waiter. We asked what the best items were and with those recommendations, we got French toast with strawberries, coffee, an omelette, and eggs Benedict. They all came out fresh and hot and tasted great. I asked for my hash browns to be crispy and they were able to do that for me. Nothing was elevated with unique ingredients, but all solid and tasted great! Up from Texas taking a three week class & decided to get out of my room for the first time in a couple of days. Literally. Found this little place on Yelp & decided to give it a try. Excellent choice! I ordered the Country Fried Steak & Eggs that also comes with hash browns & 2 flapjacks. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and delicious. The food was excellent & I have absolutely nothing to complain about. The staff is polite & attentive. Busy going here, there and all points in between. My waitress, Julia, came by often enough to check on me but not enough to bother me. Very pleasant with a warming smile. The owner, George, also stopped by to ask how the food was & if everything was ok. With a mouthful of pancakes, or flapjacks, I gave him a thumbs up & the 'OK' sign. My bill came to $19.57 but after eating overnight oatmeal, cinnamon-raisin toast & every morning for two weeks straight I'm not complaining. This was an excellent visit & a fantastic break to my routine. Should I ever find myself back here again I'll absolutely be stopping by. read more

Service was ok - the food came out fast but our server forgot our flap jack until we were almost done with our food. Biscuits and gravy - the biscuits are dense and not flaky and the gravy is thick with a lot of bigger chunky sausage pieces. You get 3 biscuits and 3 eggs way more than one can eat but rather good. Their food is all fresh and locally sourced as much as possible (eggs are from a farm in Paola). I'm not one for a lot of sugar at breakfast, but with the caramel sauce on the side, the Tutti Fruti Crepes were perfect. The pecans had that perfectly roasted, buttery flavor. I could have eaten an entire bowl! Loved the farmhouse decorations in the interior. It has a simple exterior, but inside it's a fresh, flavorful fun breakfast concept ranging from the sweet dishes, classics like biscuits and gravy and a few healthy options too! Our one point of feedback was to offer a mix n' match option for the crepes. Charge $1-$2 more and let the customer pick three different kinds of crepes to enjoy. It wasn't life-changing food, but it was good. We had fast, friendly service. We both got #1 Flapjacks Special (Two eggs your way, two flapjacks, two slices of bacon and one sausage link). They actually gave us three eggs, which is a lot of eggs. The bacon was kind of dry (maybe because we were there late in the day) but they were nice, big pieces. The sausage was a little different than I'm used to but still good. The pancakes were also good, but I was not a fan of the syrup they use. Probably just my taste. It would be nice to have some options. They might have had some other options but there was a "Karen" sitting next to us kind of harassing everyone about her food so we just tried to eat and go to avoid listening to her complain about crazy stuff. read more

However, my biscuits n gravy were room temperature, my hash browns were cold, and my omelet which was plentiful was close to room temperature. So while the food would have elevated the 3 stars there really isn't an excuse for serving warmish food at a sit down restaurant. Anyway, not somewhere I'll be waking up on a Saturday morning looking to enjoy a meal with my daughter and saying. "Hey you want to go get some Flapjacks" any time in the future. read more

This was our first absolutely terrible meal at this restaurant. We were frequent guests, and have always enjoyed our food until today. We asked for crispy hashbrowns, and they came to us incinerated to the point where they were almost inedible. we ask for a pecan waffle, which came to the table so cold it wouldn't melt pre-softened spread. The customer service was poor both in terms of the promptness of delivering our meal, and in terms of recognizing us at the door and seating us. With Two other tables occupied, and three waiters it took more than five minutes to be seated, it took more than 20 minutes to get our food. The jus for the prime rib sandwich was burnt. This was made up for by the cold, stale bread and the raw roast beef. We don't plan to give this restaurant another chance, we heard some conversation about a new location being opened and wonder if this location has new owners. We also noticed that the signage had changed from "Flapjacks and More" to just "flapjacks". read more
