Sometimes the area can be less crowded certain times of the day. The sunsets and sunrises are stunning. You can even catch a glimpse of the Point Judith Lighthouse in the distance. Parking: Tight, tricky and can be crowded. Overall a great place to explore.

Bundle up because the wind whips pretty fierce here. Nice in the summer to cool off but chiiiillllly in the winter. The dirt road into the area gets graded a couple times a year but it does get very very pitted with deep pot holes. Beware if your vehicle is low. Might not be an easy ride. It's free to enter and it gets very busy in the summer. Portable restrooms are around May until September. While you're here, don't miss the touching granite monument to the lost fisherman over near the raised outlook stop. Bring a picnic lunch, your camera, a chair...swimming is nice in the summer.

But, we visited yesterday (July 19th) and the horseflies were so bad that we had to leave. They were swarming on everyone, even with DEET bug repellent, we were still getting bitten. It was horrible. We have never seen it like this, and have been to this beach many times, at different times of the year. Everyone was leaving. I saw a man with so many bites that blood was running down his legs. Just want everyone to be informed in case you decide to visit. :(

That is a bonus! Two Lobster Rolls for $29. is incredible. My SIL said they were excellent: a generous amount of lobster on a toasted roll. There were no lifeguards when we went. The water was enjoyable to swim in back in the day. The area is beautiful and can get really packed. Currently, swimming, cooking, or fires are not allowed; however, there are many trails in the area and the pond is used for fishing kayaking/canoeing, and boating. There is a boat ramp to launch those. There is also a boat ramp on the Connecticut side. This body of water is 60-feet deep and 430-acres. Fishing is very popular here; types of fish that can be found are, brown/rainbow trout, pickerel, bass, perch, catfish, and walleye. Overall, a great spot to hang out on a canoe/kayak/fish, wish we can swim in it again though.

Getting into the parking lot isn't a problem but getting out might be. Cars are flying past the entrance way at a pretty fast speed. There's a boat launch and a small pier but that's about it. Fishing is prohibited during certain times of the year along with swimming but for the life of me I don't know why people would want to go swimming? There's no shower facility or changing room. There is a restroom that looks more like and outhouse to me. I was going to check it out for the sake of the review then realized some things are best left to wonder. Overall three stars. Easy launching and picking up of boats but lack of personal facilities drips their rating. Now excuse me, I drank too much coffee. I'll go.....no I'll hold it. M
