I was an employee there, and was sexually harassed and had a conversation with someone who is almost an adult after she had come to me about inappropriate conversations with me, I had made a comment which was on the same level, I guess it's ok for them and not me. But, what it really boils down to is I left them a truthful review with corporate and they got upset and fired me. They're clicky, horrible training, no communication, makes promises to get you hired, and just plain out ran by a bunch of 20 year olds, dirty restaurant with no care to keep it clean during shift, only at the end of the night, raw chicken served to guests without checking, temperature. They pick favorites to be seated and leave the people who need money too with one table here and there. Not a great place to work or eat. read more

My husband and I managed to scoop up two seats at the bar and even though it was pretty busy, we got our drinks and our food in an extremely timely manner, including a little extra bread! Our bartender, Dalton, was awesome and he made the absolute best green tea shot I've ever had, well done!! My steak was perfectly medium rare, flavorful af; I heard Barry made my steak btw, top notch bro! One of our favorite spots!!! We love that this location is lakeside and can be accessed by car or boat. In the winter, it's a cozy spot to meet up with friends and family but the summer is HOT HOT HOT here! The patio dining and live music are the best. The menu has something to please everyone; brisket, ribs, chicken, fish n' chips, and ALL THE SOUTHERN SIDES! If you're lucky enough to catch the lunch buffet on Wednesdays and Fridays then you know what kind of food coma this place can put you in. It is the best! My kids are obsessed and the staff is so patient and kind with them. I did hold back one star because the service can be hit or miss, especially the bar. It's a great place to catch a ballgame on the tv. I've also attended several special events here with large parties and their catering is great. Don't pass up this Tennessee local place! read more

Ever since moving to East Tennessee, Calhoun's has been a regular place for the wife and I. We've also made it the go-to for when we have visitors. On Saturday, May 27th, we attempted to go to Calhoun's for a nice meal, only to be greeted by someone at the entrance to the parking lot demanding a $30 cash deposit for the honor of spending my hard-earned money on a meal at Calhoun's. The gentleman stated that it was fully refundable when we left, but we had to pay it or we couldn't dine at Calhoun's, because it was "Rockin the Docks" weekend? First, I know of few people that carry cash any more, let alone (specifically) $30, and second.. some of us could care less about Rockin the Docks and just wanted to eat dinner... this whole thing was completely absurd. The wife and I, much like the car ahead of us turned around and spent our dining dollars elsewhere, (Longhorn Steakhouse) and Calhoun's as a chain is permanently wiped from our list. Simply put, this was complete and utter B.S.... note to Calhoun's - when you make dumb decisions like this, you might want to post on your website some matter of warning so people don't drive all the way to your establishment to experience your stupidity first-hand. read more

My husband and I decided to take a drive out to Lenoir city this evening and ended up at Calhouns. This is the first time either of us have eaten at this chain. There was a 30 min wait for a table, however there were lots of open tables in the dining room at outdoor patio. We assumed they just were low on staff, as most restaurants are right now. While the location of this restaurant is awesome, the food was really lack luster. My husband got the ribs, which we hoped would be great since there is a giant neon sign that says "Best ribs in America"...but they were tough, overly sauced and not very meaty. I got the brisket sandwich which was good but nothing special. For my side I had ordered sweet potato fries, however I got a baked sweet potato. Our server was quick to fix that, but unfortunately it took another 15 minutes for those to come out. Our server was very nice, no complaints there. I feel like this place could be a gem but it just fell short. If we go back it will only be for a cocktail on their patio, not for the food. read more

The food was ok sadly but the drinks and the server was why i rated it at a 4. The bisquits are to die for! They serve and assortment of breads and bisquits as starters and it was my favorite part of the meal. I had mojitos and so far these are the best in town! From calling to make a reservation to leaving after eating, this place made a poor impression. When making a reservation, I'm not interested in hearing what the other hostesses are talking about. Either lower your voices or step away from the one fielding calls. Walking to our table, several side tables were littered with silverware baskets, linens, plastic wrap from clean linens, watered down drinks, and even dirty plates with food remnants. The thought of a server stuffing a garlic roll into their mouth, then rolling silverware to be placed on tables for customers is disgusting! Also, since when are servers allowed to FaceTime in a booth where they're eating/drinking/rolling silverware in the VERY dining room they are serving? Our server was incredibly nice & food brought out in a timely manner. But I, nor my mother or aunt are your "sweetie". It's unprofessional to address your guests this way. We went here last night after a long day of packing. We were tired and hungry and were greeted at the door by friendly hosts who seated us promptly and chatted with us about our day. Our waiter was at our table as soon as we sat down and we started with the pretzels and beer cheese. They were so good. The pretzels were warm and the mustard and beer cheese served with them was so good. My husband hates mustard and he loved this one! We then ordered two entrees- the Steak and Shrimp with Spinach Maria and Tennessee Corn Pudding for myself and the Calhoun's Trio (Chicken Tenders, Ribs and Pulled Pork) with Spinach Maria and Fries for my husband. Let me tell you my steak was the best steak I have ordered out at restaurant! It was cooked perfectly and so tender it melted in your mouth! The Shrimp were huge and had a great grilled flavor! The sides were delicious as well! The Spinach Maria is our favorite side there and I had never tried the corn pudding but it was so sweet and satisfying! My husband's chicken tenders were so tender and the breading was unlike any we have had before it was a little sweet and had amazing flavor! The ribs and pulled pork at Calhoun's has never disappointed and last night was no exception- the ribs had a great smoky flavor, the pork was tender and the bbq sauce is so good! The fries were hot and crunchy! Our waiter Jacob was wonderful! My glass was never empty and he checked on us several times and was so nice and friendly! We arrived at calhouns in Leonor city at the tiki bar ( outside ) we waited 5 -10 minutes and all servers and assistant manager's we're all on there phones or were talking and playing around while we were waiting. we went inside and talked to the manager and he was very young and he did nothing to help but insted just kept standing around, so we just left. They were not even busy, and had 8 workers outside. This is wrong and needs to be corrected. read more

The atmosphere is really cool, on a dock with lots of inside and outside seating. We dined on a Sunday night expecting it to be fairly quiet. Instead it was fairly crowded, and it seemed that they were understaffed. There was a 20-minute wait, even though there were lots of empty tables. When we were seated, we asked for the table directly across from us that was on the water, and the hostess said it was reserved. It was clearly not, as no one ever sat there. The service was kind of strange. For instance, they serve free bread baskets with biscuits, rolls and cornbread when you are seated. Our waiter asked if we wanted bread. You mean like everyone else is getting without being asked? Um, yes. Then when I ordered the smoked chicken that comes with rice, he asked whether I wanted the rice with it. What? Husband's trio meal only had two of the three items, so he asked for the third. No apology, just kind of plopped it down when they brought it. Asked for more bread, and it never appeared. Asked for wet naps twice before he remembered them. The food itself was pretty good. The smoked chicken was outstanding, but the Mac and cheese was only so so.
