Super nice staff! Clean! Customers there seemed happy! I'm from San Diego and figured this place would have a the classic California burrito. For me, the burrito disappointed only because it was not what I wanted or expected. The bulk was fries. The meat was more like steak than thin carne asada. And I didn't see any sour cream or guac. It's a decent burrito and it has a lot of their sauce in it, but sadly didn't remind me of home or meet the bar of a Cali burrito. read more

Heard some good things about this spot and decided to dip in for a bite. Got the fish burrito and salchipapas (cheese fries with pineapple chili mayo sauce and cut up fried hot dogs). My friend got a carne asada burrito and a fish taco. Loved the fish burrito and the spicy cabbage sauce in it (yumm)! The salchipapas were good but it was just too much going on and will have to see if they can not add the hot dogs on my next pass. I grabbed a bite of the asada burrito and it was delicious. The meat was so tender and the sauce was tasty with fries added in the burrito. I only took one bite but my friend devoured it. The fish taco came plain with some veggies and jalapeños in it and really needed some sauce. After taking a bite we asked if it comes with sauce and the guy at the front said no but try some red sauce on it and gave a small container of the sauce they put on their al pastor. Not a good match. Overall the staff was great, food yummy and will have to come back and try some of the other menu items. read more

Kevin took our order and was very nice. He had great customer service and answered all of our questions. Now there was another employee.....green hair with facial piercing had a bad attitude as we walked in while two more costumers walked in behind us. However, I'll give her that it was at the end of the night and I'm sure she was tired, but she thought she was hiding enough behind the steel lift. *TLDR at bottom* The food here is really, really good. The carne asada is well-seasoned and they give you a good amount of meat per taco. Tacos come with lime and lots of fresh onion and cilantro, which I love. Their carne asada burritos are heavenly. Myself (and family and friends) have tried them, and we all agree they're fantastic. The freshly made French fries and creamy chipotle sauce inside (which tastes just like the sauce that Last Call used in their burritos) really make them addictive. Unsurprisingly, their horchata is good as well. So is their homemade salsa which is very tasty (it has that roasted chile taste) and perfectly spicy. Every time I've gone in, the staff have been extremely bubbly/friendly, and even a cook from the back smiled at me when I walked in! The restaurant is clean and modern inside with a good amount of tables/seating. Now for the part that's less awesome: The prices are kinda high. A burrito is about $12 and an individual taco is about $3. To be fair, the burritos are HUGE, but the tacos aren't (however, they are the best I've found close to home on the Westside). They also don't come with sides like beans and rice (they don't make rice at all). TLDR: Overall, they're a GREAT Mexican-style place for burritos/tacos on the Westside, but expect to pay for the quality. They may or may not be out of aguas frescas, and they definitely don't have rice, but they'll treat you like family if you order there. Pro tip: I highly recommend calling in your order before showing up. My orders have been ready immediately upon pickup each time I've called them in! The co-owners are two young adults working hard every single time I go in there. They're earning an honest living making delicious food. Support this business! It is well-deserved! read more

Walked out. Went during lunch and the place was empty except for 3 of us in line. Not very friendly, very slow taking orders. Expensive menu. Very cold atmosphere and didn't smell like any food was cooking. Grill and pans are up front where you can see and nothing was cooking. I love this place so much that I come every one or two weeks and I always get the fish burrito. The people inside are so kind and so nice and the food is outstanding my fish burrito comes with pickled red cabbage cilantro onions and a lime crema that is just outstanding. It is an extremely large burrito and you need 10 napkins to finish it cuz it is super moist and juicy. You got to try this place! Look. I've never had a California style burrito. And even after eating here, I still haven't, but only because I can't have gluten. But even if you can have gluten, you should get the asada fries. They are BIG food for when you're really hungry and they are delicious! Hubs gets the asada burrito, which is essentially the asada fries, wrapped in a tortilla. YUM. People behind the counter ate so friendly and patient! I do wish I could get a margarita here, but so far, only soft drinks. I'm not mad, because again, THEM FRIES. There's not a whole lot of seating, but a spot usually clears up pretty quick. And seriously, THE FRIES. My kids love them too. read more

Ordered a Asada Burrito tonight at 7pm, & A order of Asada fries full plate. The fries were soggy and drowned in the Chipotle sauce the sauce is really good but the fries were soggy even before the sauce it seems so they were pure mush. Also I know the business is doing really well and they need to do something about the meat that meat has so much cartilage and fat in it just didn't hit right they need to make some changes of where they are getting their meat for sure. Last but not least I got a 2$ order of guac and it was a small cup that my 90 cent sauce cup of salsa came in that was truly robbery and it has no taste guacamole. I won't post pictures to gross anyone out but please make some changes. Atmosphere was nice and restaurant was clean. I really enjoyed the (football-sized) carne asada burrito. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did, considering it was also stuffed with French fries, which seemed a little over the top. The staff was very pleasant. I'm not giving it five stars because the dining area wasn't too clean, and the tables, chairs, and furnishings are all Spartan and kind of uncomfortable. I'll try it again, and hopefully, they'll spruce the place up a bit in the meantime. read more

Eager to try this place - but website doesn't have menu descriptions, and online ordering from web doesn't work. Online chat function immediately asks for email and won't let you chat without joining their spam list. Tried calling but Phone isn't connected... not at all good - any of it... All that is really about the website - ended up going in and waiting - the food was wonderful - had the vegetarian burrito (which is calabacitas with dairy cheese) which I chose over the vegan option (I which is beyond meat). Burrito was as big as the Last Call ones used to be- at least one meal! Will go again for sure - hoping they sort the website and the phone and the online ordering. read more

Where i come from in California we don't put fries in a burrito, rice maybe but not fries. Its ok though since i think thats a Sand Diego thing. However, this place does not even have rice or beans. 1 star because the people are nice there and its a clean establishment. The meat seemed boiled then fried on the griddle. No char, no spice either. They douse the burrito's innards with some kind of cream which made it soggy. The flavor of this food was not good. Son had carne asada burrito which he loved, and I had the taco trio, which beef, chicken, and fish...all three were flavorful. The people who work here are super nice and welcoming! The food is legit a cravings haven cooked on the spot. They let us order our food with our dogs and had seating for us outside. I was born and raised in San Diego California and live in Albuquerque part time. I just recently learned of Cali Burrito and was immediately excited. Unfortunately Cali Burrito did not live up to my expectations. Maybe the owners have been to California on vacation a time or two, but they missed the mark on this one. There's not an actual "California Burrito" on the menu, or a bean and cheese burrito (with refried beans I might add), OR rolled tacos!!! The tortillas were close to California tortillas (stretchy and soft), but still off the mark. Honestly my review is strict only because they claim Cali in their name, so if you want something in between New Mexican and California Mexican food then I suppose you should give them a chance. But don't look here for authentic California Mexican food! read more
