I recently had some windows replaced. I did my due diligence and shopped around but out of sheer luck I found Cali glass &windows. From my initial contact with them until my project was completed was outstanding. Rosie was very nice and communicative. The installers were efficient and took great care to make sure my windows were installed correctly. They even used tarps and a shop vac to keep the areas clean. The window quality and warranty is great. This is also a family owned small business. They are located in Imperial beach. Overall, they definitely exceeded my expectations. My house looks better and I was surprised at the unexpected noise reduction these energy efficient windows make. Service has declined. Tried to get an additional windows installed. Poor customer service and no follow up. They seem un-organized and there is miscommunication between employees. Had to go somewhere else after 6 weeks of trying. Thank you for your reply, and letting me know you intentionally wasted my time for the past 3 weeks as you thought we didn't want the job. If you're considering giving your business and your money to this company, be advised that they will install your door (or glass, or whatever), but they will not service it in the future. They installed the front door on our condo. It is a huge (9-10 foot tall), heavy metal/glass/wood door, and now that it needs some adjustments and the handle needs tightening, they refuse to come out and fix it. Obviously, we were happy to pay whatever it cost. We booked an appointment weeks ago; it's scheduled for tomorrow, and they *just* called us today to tell us they won't come out to work on it. No explanation. Just not interested in servicing the product THEY installed. Ever heard of customer service? Wtf?? read more

Called and spoke to Javier and had inquired about replacing a broken window. He had suggested that maybe I just needed to replace the glass instead of installing a completely new window. He had asked me if I would give him measurements and he would get back to me with a rough estimate. I also has mentioned that I would like a quote on possibly replacing all my windows and patio door since they would need to come by and measure the broken window. Javier had told me he would run the measurements I had provided to him and give me a call back with a rough estimate. I assume this company doesn't want new business since I still haven't heard back. read more

Let me start by saying I believe in calling a company and voicing your opinion before "Yelping" and that's just what I did, for the record. My experience almost from start to finish with Cali was.....disappointing. We ordered a custom shower door from them and while the measurement appointment went fine, everything else was a disaster. They called five minutes before the first install appointment to cancel, then could only reschedule me to a time that required I take time off work (1PM). The second install day they showed up an hour and 40 minutes late, apparently they "forgot parts." Then the prescribed hour long install took SIX HOURS. Excuses were made, none of them my fault, they fabricated the entire thing so it was on them. So an install that should have been from 1:00-2:30 max became 2:30 to 8:30, and late arrival at that. I only let them continue because the installer said they wouldn't guarantee a slot the next day if they didn't finish that night. When Mark called to collect my credit card info, I calmly explained the entire situation and my frustration. What I received was "I apologize, I don't know what else to say"....then he tried to charge my credit card at a rate 20% higher than originally estimated, he claimed he was looking at the wrong invoice. I still paid full price, which is fine, but I would have thought at least a reasonable effort to show some contrition was in order. I'm not seeking that apology through Yelp just wanted potential future customers to know my experience. read more

I'm a local IB resident and had John and his guys came over and install 2 shower doors in our house. They did a great job on the install in and out in 1 day. Communicated mostly over email which is nice for me and they were super responsive. A couple months after the installation we noticed one of the doors had become a little mis aligned and I emailed John and he sent the tech out the next day to come tighten up the door free of charge. This place is kind of a family tradition for me, my parents bought all their windows for our home when this business just started, then couple years later my brother got his for his new home, and I always refer them to our friends. We love them, but the real reason I'M WRITING THIS REVIEW IS BECAUSE INJUSTICE!! We are big supporters of helping our community and local small businesses, and I hate when people don't appreciate the great effort these people do for their business and compete against the larger corporations. I'm posting this review because last week I went to fix my screens and while waiting for my turn I saw how a rich lady from Coronado (I know this because she mentioned it various times) was demanding a full refund because she didn't like the glass she picked, why I know this, because she made a whole scene saying that she was aware that she picked it but she didn't like them no more, gosh!! While the spoiled nonsense lady was going the guys try to find a solution for her and even give her a discount but she didn't want it, she was full of rage, she scared me a little. Anyway my point here is, some times people don't see beyond their noses and they never try to understand that this family business work their hardest and best possible to accommodate all their clients, I don't see this type of scenes happening at Walmart or Target, why? Because people knows that in a small business there will be someone that will listen to you and try to find a solution for you, while bigger corporations just don't really care. Support you local small business, try to get to know them, and before going on a rant on things that can actually be fixed, remember to calm down, be reasonable and try to be a person that sets an example for the younger generations. read more

a competitor in Coronado stated over the phone that they could make a replica of a glass shelf I broke that needed the edges rounded out. It turns out that the competitor could not do what they said so I took it to Cali Glass in IB. They had it done the very next day and cost less than I expected. I highly recommend them. read more

Jeeeeeez! Could they be any less professional!! Methinks NOT!! I walked in, since it was less than a block from home, and I like to support local business, and they acted like I was putting them out from the get-go. They finally managed to get over and measure my old, irregular windows, and said they'd be ready after 10 a.m. the next day for me to pick up. I reminded them that they were supposed to install them, and they made a big stink about how that would cost extra. I said I totally understood, and would pay extra. So, I came home from work @ 10 the next day, waited an hour and a half, and went over to see what time they might be able to come install them. Again, they acted like I was a major pain. They said 8-9 a.m. was the only time they could do it, so I agreed to, and wrote down (for THEM) 8-9 on Friday, when I could again take off work. They called at 8:40 and said they'd arrive sometime before noon. At 12:20, I called to see what was up, and they said they wouldn't be able to come. Period. F**k them!! read more
