DO NO HIRE THIS COMPANY! Terrible experience with Cali Movers, will never use again and would strongly urge to avoid their service. Erick originally seemed genuine and was eager to help boasting "we are a Long Beach company and want to help Long Beach locals" since I was moving from LB to Palos Verdes. He undercut another company in price I was considering using and so I thought why not reward that attitude with my business. We spoke about the fact I am looking for a reliable service that I can continually use as part of my regular job is to relocate soccer players in the local area. My move was a small, one bed room apartment that I had already packed about 22 boxes which just needed moving downstairs to load onto the truck. There was an additional tv stand with tv, dresser, bar cart, drawer for office stationary and 4 upright clothes boxes. No sofa or table/chairs were being moved. The movers were due to arrive at 1:30pm and even though claiming to be from Long Beach, the gentleman explained he had no idea where the cross streets Ocean Blvd and Pine Ave were. Upon finally arriving the gentleman was extremely disgruntled about the length of time this move would take, saying they only had 4 hours and that it would take much longer. He even mentioned under his breath this was a "hell job" and completely ridiculous they were starting at 1:30pm. I explained there are only a small number of boxes with no large furniture and I was willing to help carry down and assist to speed up the time. If it went over I would of course pay the additional what was owed. The elevator was located next to my unit and the truck parked right night to the elevator so everything was extremely accessible and would be rather quite quick in time I continued to express. The gentleman, named JR, continued to express how disgruntled he was and made it very clear he wanted a large cash tip and if I didn't have cash to stop off on the way. I found this rather disturbing that he was so insistent and at the same time felt like I didn't have a choice as I wanted the two movers to handle my belongings with care. I helped the two movers carry all the boxes to the truck, even gifting them some soccer apparel, large LA Galaxy jackets, backpacks and roller bags. The movers were less that careful unloading all the boxes to the new apartment, causing a number of dings on walls and doors even breaking a mirror on the bar cart. When I brought this to their attention, JR was quick to reply "it was already like that". Classic. I additionally found mor issues with a broken portion of the office drawer. The total time from the drivers showing up to unloading at the new address was 3 hours 20 mins. On noticing there was an option to tip via card, I queried JR on this to which his reply was nothing but confrontational and still demanded the cash. In hindsight, I shouldn't have tipped for their service and stood my ground. I was quick to email Erick in the office to explain and we ended up having a call. He mentioned the two movers had been suspended and that he would help me file a claim. I asked about the reimbursement of the tip, Erick mentioned he would look into it but never got back to me or responded to my emails. The check I received for the damaged good was $12. While I understand that moving is a highly strenuous and difficult job, hence my willingness to help, I still believe there is a level of etiquette and professionalism that should be shown to the customer and not an attitude of hassle. BEWARE!! DON'T USE CALI MOVERS...EVER!! If you have a scheduled move with them...cancel it!! You could end up in the same situation as me....or you could get lucky...but why take the risk?!!! I wish someone told this before I paid $1100 to have them move my items and in return I now have another almost $3000 in expenses which are the costs to replace all the items they broke during the move. Another irritating thing is they saved ALL of the damaged items to move last, while Pedro had me looking at the iPad for nearly 20 minutes to sign everything. Utterly Ridiculous and unscrupulous business!!! I deserve nothing less than a FULL REFUND!! Now they tell me their claims process takes at least 2 weeks and to send them the date the items were purchased and the value paid for them back then. In the meantime, I can't watch my 65" tv, that was wrapped in plastic wrap, covered with moving blankets and STILL came up BROKEN (see pic below). The same goes for my lift top coffee table. It was covered in moving blankets, wrapped in plastic and came up with the corner missing (see pic below). Other items were broken too!! In my business I have to do a bit moving and that's why tried different moving companies. I guess that makes me somewhat an expert when it comes to selecting the mover. Of all the movers, i had hired up till now, i found Cali Movers as the apt one.The movers were quick, efficient, knowledgeable about how to properly pack and store furniture, and handled my belongings and furnishings with great care. I was impressed with the company's attention to my phone calls and questions. The owner and his support staff are easily accessible over phone and email. The movers themselves were friendly and paid heed to all my suggestions that I had regarding how I wanted certain items moved and packaged. I was referred to this company by my parents who used their moving services a few years ago and boy I tell you, what a great service I received! I had horrible experiences with movers in the past with hidden fees, overcharged items, even with broken pieces of furniture. These guys were so careful with packing all my belongings and fast too. They were right on time, and the movers were very courteous and polite. There was a small fee of $65 for "long-carry" that was not discussed on the estimate, but I guess it is standard in the moving business since the truck had to be parked a bit far from my new house. I couldn't be any happier with this moving company. They were prompt, courteous, and very professional. From the first call from Jay (sales representative) to the last piece of furniture moved by Carlos (mover), the service was above and beyond. I have asked the movers to come one day before the move to help me with packing, and I was so happy I did. We moved from Long Beach to Menifee on a Sunday. The three movers were very professional, responsible and listened to our needs and concerns. Also, we had boxes in storage and the storage company was closed on that day. Once completing unloading our furniture to our new home the Lead Mover, Byron made a great suggestion to obtain my key and he would go the storage that following day and deliver the boxes to us. Cali Movers was recommended to me by a friend who had used them. Erick booked my move. He was polite and informative. He was more than accommodating when I had to push back my move date. The movers showed up on time, Byron the supervisor walked the house with me and we came up with a game plan. He and his 5 workers worked quickly and tirelessly all day. The movers were great, polite, helpful and efficient. They arrived 30 minutes late, which was irritating, but this is Los Angeles. The only real complait I have is that the sales person needed to be more clear that the drive time was a seperate charge above the 4 hour minimum. The move was finished, including the drive time within the 4 hour minimum, but I was charged an additional $150 for the drive time and miscellaneous items which I am not rellly clear as to what they were. They showed up early and packed everything quickly and efficiently. I was very impressed with how quickly they were able to load the truck considering we were on the 6th floor with an elevator. I've used Cali Movers for more than 15 years. This was a big move for me. Leaving California to Arizona. We set a date and time for the move, and they were on time, with the right equipment. Amazing experience! Our crew of 3 was fast, super friendly, and very skilled. Our brand new house with matte paint (thanks builders ) had zero marks or dents, even up and around a staircase.
