As a returning customer, this is definitely one of my favorite spots to eat in Athens!! Reasonably priced, generous portions, friendly service, beautiful decor and pretty outdoor seating, and especially amazing food!! Great for nighttime casual dinners and large groups. Heavily recommend the steak Cubano and the tacu tacu - the cubanos are a bit pricey but so worth! The tacu tacu (pork) is so tender and comes with surprisingly amazing rice, sauce, and sides. The fries here are also so good!! The shakes are good but nothing special. I'd definitely take any recommendations the staff give, although mostly everything here is really good. Great place when visiting your college kid. Grab a menu when you enter and stand n line to order. Lots of choices from Cuban sandwiches to tacos and burritos. Decent food and great ambience. The line is long and many people try to save tables while their family members wait in line to order food. This place gets slammed so be willing to look around for a table to open up. The college kids love this place so it was a hit and the reason for the 4 stars but I'm not big on the free-for-all seating arrangements. They used to be really good. Now it's average. People go there for location and all of that but it's not a great experience. The food is alright. Nothing to write home about. The portioning of the empanadas or the fish tacos is kind of hit and miss. Also the menu online is one of many. The prices seem to change day to day. I have paid 3.95 -5.95 for a single fish taco on several different dates. Parking is kind of bad and all over the place and you have to walk on those uneven small gravel filler rocks. It's uncomfortable and awkward to walk on. 3 stars is pretty generous for the Lumpkin Street location I'd you ask me. read more

This is a great place for food. There's no alcohol but the food is delicious and filing. There is indoor and outdoor seating with TVs all around where they played the soccer game. It is nicely decorated with small boats outside and the tables painted of different flags. This lil spot has seating inside and outside. I had the chicken quesadilla with spinach, but think I would want to try steak fajitas or something next time and the fries, which looked seasoned. It was a late lunch, so I did not have to wait very long. It's an open restaurant, with picnic tables everywhere to sit at. I took a long look at the menu, and made my choice, they gave me a number to put at my table, and I sat down under the umbrella and felt a nice breeze. A nice couple and their child were just finishing up, but he wanted to play on the playground kiddie equipment, before they left. Mom allowed it and her little boy played a bit, before they walked home. The decor is festive here, and there are a few TV's around to watch sports! It's a great spot for good food! The only downside is that ordering can take forever and definitely could use some improving in that and the salsa is pretty meh here. But he says it's the only thing he's ever gotten. It'd a Cuban with cut-up hot dogs. Everything we've had here that has chicken in it wasn't the best. I would stay away from the chicken if you can. Working in Athens for the day and after looking through suggestions in my Vegan Atlanta group I came across Cali n Tito's was one of the suggestions. After looking at the menu I decided to give them a try. Located near UGA this is definitely a hangout for students and adults alike. I was there at 2pm in the afternoon and it was packed. Apparently there is a $2 BYOB which would be popular for people of all ages. The menu has a vegetarian section with a decent amount of choices and I opted for the El sandwich Cubano veggie. It has sautéed mushrooms, onions, red & green peppers, jalapeños, lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro, zucchini, cheese, Mayo (I opted out of cheese and Mayo), avocado, and salsa verde. The jalapeños gave it the extra kick that I loved. The sandwich was very flavorful and delicious. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely stop by to try their other vegetarian options. read more

A friend who lives in town took me here for a somewhat late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. It's a funky, fun place located in the burbs of Athens but not too far out. It's easy to understand why it's popular, especially on a Sunday when many places are closed. No liquor is offered, but you can BYOB for a small $2.50 charge. The drill is you order at the counter, they give you a number to place on your table, and they bring the food to your table when it's ready. The menu is extensive with lots of Latin American dishes to choose from. I chose the Peruvian Beef Lomo Saltado. It was good, but it wasn't the best example of this dish I've had. A nostalgic favorite of mine; great location in the heart of 5 Points with friendly staff and good quality food. This location has a dive-y feel with the option to BYOB (for a small fee). It can get really busy with lines way out the door, but lines usually move fairly fast. On busy days you may have to wait for a table. I recommend the fish tacos, Milanesa Cubano, fries, and pink sauce. read more
