REVIEW FOR Caliber Collision, 5252 Lovelock St, San Diego 92110 Our car (2014 Nissan Xterra Pro 4X) had an argument with a post in a parking lot. Even with no injuries, you know how stressful it can be, what with dealing with an insurance company, rental car, and worrying that something will inevitably go wrong. But we did not have to worry, because repairs were expertly done, and more quickly than originally promised. We were treated like royalty by everyone. Service advisor David Perez-Lopez is highly knowledgeable, communicated daily about how repairs were going (in fact, I never ONCE had to call their office). Best of all, he made sure that repairs were absolutely perfect. Then he returned our car to us earlier than promised, and looking beautiful - washed and shiny clean, inside and out -- it looked almost detailed! So, thank you to Christina, Beth (office manager), Daniel, and everyone in the service bay who touched our beloved 4X. I hope we will never need your services ever again, but when - LOL - we do, we will be back to Caliber on Lovelock Street. read more

I've taken my car to Caliber Collision in Bay Park multiple times, but my second experience was absolutely unacceptable and has ensured I won't be going back. When I picked up my car, the bumper was visibly misaligned -- it wasn't flush and clearly looked off. I pointed this out to the representative, Marcos, who asked me not to mention it during pick-up and promised they'd take care of it when I brought the car back the following week. That was the first red flag. Rather than doing the right thing and documenting the issue on the spot, he swept it under the rug. They did agree to take the car back and try to fix it, but the results were still terrible. The bumper never looked right, and it was clear the repair was poorly done. Even worse, they tried to deflect responsibility by blaming a damaged license plate -- from the same accident they were supposed to be fixing. It was a flimsy excuse and showed they were more interested in avoiding accountability than actually fixing the issue. The most frustrating part? The original issue and follow-up work were never documented, meaning I had no formal record of what was promised. This is unacceptable business practice. Caliber Collision Bay Park does NOT stand by their work. Instead, they make excuses, deflect blame, and hope you won't notice the problems until it's too late. If you choose to go here, get everything in writing, inspect every inch of your car before accepting it, and don't trust a single verbal promise. I gave them multiple chances to make this right. Took my daughter's Corolla in for work after an accident didn't fix right the first time had to take it back. Just very unprofessional and vehicle repair knowledge is horrible. I want to make sure my absolutely horrid experience with this body shop is known. To fix the damage pictured (small area of paint) they had my car for 33 DAYS. Yes, 33 days. Plus, the car is now showing error codes that they are unable to fix! The car was dropped off on 12/23/21 with what was to be a 5-day repair. They said maybe a day or two longer since it was the holidays, which I said was fine. After a week no call, 2 weeks later, still no call, I started to get worried and called multiple times with them saying their staff was sick, they needed to order new emblems, then that they messed up the paint and had to repaint it, excuse after excuse for 33 days. Miguel should have made a far better effort of keeping me informed instead of me calling him to try and figure out what was wrong. After 33 days to fix this scratch, they said the car was ready (1/27/22). I went and picked it up, and they said that they also scanned the car to ensure there were no errors codes. As soon as I start the car, 2 error codes showed up, so either the guy scanning was clueless or just lied and didn't do it. I told Miguel this and he said to come back another day to drop off the car so their tech can look at it since the tech is not in all the time. I called multiple times and the tech wasn't there. Then they said they wanted me to drop off the car for a few hours, I needed my car and said that would not be possible. They would not provide a rental car. So the lady that works in the front office ( a blonde woman who had a snarky attitude with me over the phone to be frank) told me that I should call each day to see if the tech is there (ridiculous). Finally, today (4/1/22) I was able to take my car there. They said they needed about 30 minutes to reset the light. After an hour and 15 minutes of waiting, Miguel said that they couldn't fix it. Then, he told me to take MORE TIME from the hours I've wasted at this shop to go to the dealer and have them diagnose it. He then also told me it was a low voltage code and that the battery was weak. So then, I go and buy a $100 battery, and the code is still there. Caliber Collision has no main "customer support" line either. I tried calling multiple times and there is no way to get into contact with their corporate office. So now, my car has 2 dash lights that wont go away. Please AVOID this shop! I can't wait for them to post their generic copy & pasted "please email us to resolve this" BS response. read more

Caliber took GREAT care of my car, and I'd recommend this location specifically to anyone needing auto repairs. In particular, Junior was extremely competent and professional. The work done on my car is flawless. Beyond that though, he communicated with me the entire time to let me know exactly where we were in the process. The repairs took longer than it would have in pre-COVID times, due to supply chain issues in ordering the parts, and labor shortages. Those issues are affecting almost all businesses these days, but Junior did his best to get everyone done as quickly as possible, and kept me informed throughout, so there were no surprises. Junior also totally went above and beyond to work with the GEICO insurance adjuster to get additional repairs covered as well - at 5pm on a Friday!! He explained everything to the adjuster, and because he was so proactive, she approved the additional work right away. I'd recommend this Caliber location, and Junior specifically, to anyone needing auto repairs! read more

It will be a year in 6 days and my vehicle is still unfinished. The service advisor who helped me, David Leyva, would continually refuse to return phone calls or emails. The only way I can contact him is to go in the shop and wait, sometimes up to 30 minutes. He would continually lie to me and to the Automobile Club of Southern California. Fortunately for me, I have excellent documentation of phone calls, emails and personal visits to show the level of incompetence and/or deceit. I finally had to file a complaint with the California Department of Insurance and am waiting to hear back. read more

First, I know absolutely nothing about car repairs. In light of my lack of expertise, it makes the process for choosing an honest, high-quality collision shop a bit more stressful. After being referred by my insurance company to Caliber Collision and receiving a quote with a reasonable time frame that was in line with other competing body shops, I decided to go with CC. Throughout the process I received updates in a timely fashion and when there were any unforeseen issues Henry (the sales representative) notified me. The only issue was that the time for repairs did run over by 9 days, which was not something that I anticipated. However, I was informed why there was a delay (difficulty in securing the right parts) and provided with an accurate and revised time frame. Given the high level of service, the professionalism shown by Henry and his staff and the quality of the repairs I would rate CC at 5 stars despite this delay. Finally, I would come back to CC without hesitation for any future repairs. read more

I brought my car to the Caliber Collision location (5252 Lovelock St, San Diego) on 01/26/2023 for a bumper replacement. A week later, I was told that the car is ready for pickup. I went to the location and made the payment. When the car was brought to me, I noticed that the bumper was sticking out and was about to fall off. I informed the technician and after checking the car for ~30 mins, he informed me that they installed an "after-market" bumper which was not the correct size. I was told by the manager at that location to take my car and he would call to bring it back in the same week when the correct size bumper would arrive. It's been more than 2 months, I never received a call from them. I have called Caliber Collision several times myself and was NEVER able to get a hold of the manager. Until today March 26th (2 months later), I am still waiting on Caliber Collision to resolve this matter. The car is NOT useable because the bumper might fall off. read more

Javier is a liar! After multiple attempts to have my vehicle fixed and lies and excuses, I have to resort to this negative review. My drive cam has been unplugged twice on purpose to prevent me from seeing what they are up to. I have brought in my own cars 3 different times. I also have recommended this shop to 2 good friends. All happy with their job. This rating would be a 5, if they didn't have an office manager (BETH). This women needs to go to finishing school, on how to treat people. The women, is a nasty attitude, and has a disposition about everything. I brought her a bottle of touch up paint that they gave me after my last job. When I finally opened it it was very clumpy paint. It was like the guy forgot to mix it, before he filled the bottle. I came in asking if they had any left, and if they could trade it out. The women hasn't smiled in her life. Her attitude is pure nasty. They never called me back like she promised. Beth figured out that when I called in to speak to the Gen. Manager, she said he was out for the day. Im sure she recognized the number and called me back. I had the best experience at Caliber Collision! The service was outstandingly efficient & professional, their office clean and welcoming, complete with coffee, tea -- and fresh-popped popcorn! I was here last week with a claim from Geico, a minor hit & run with damage to my fuel tank lid. After a few positive phone conversations with Geico reps in the evening, I was set up with a car rental & appointment at Caliber Collision first thing the next morning, 7:30am. Perfect! I was concerned and expecting delays, you never know with this type of scenario how many other people would be waiting and how fast the process will take of checking in, doing the review of my car, etc. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't late for work! I arrived early, thought I'd step in to see if they'd possibly be ready for me, and within minutes I was approached by Rachael, the Geico rep, and then Jr, the Caliber Collision rep, and the process started. The entire time both Rachael & Jr communicated clearly, really listened and addressed my concerns. I asked Rachael some detailed questions about the claim, she was very diligent answering, making sure I understood everything completely. I felt completely taken care of! They definitely had my best interest at heart throughout, and to the end. The Enterprise rep, Kyle?, met with me immediately afterwards, had the car waiting and ready to go! Complete efficiency having all 3 under one roof, so easy, I just breezed through and was on my way! While my car was being worked on Rachael called to give me an update, and I spoke with her and Jr later in the day, to make sure I was in synch with how I wanted to proceed with the claim, as well as getting the body work done on my car that satisfied me. Both strived to make sure I felt good about my choices by giving me all possible options, while sharing their professional perspective regarding cost and condition of my car. Not only did they fix my bumper after a hit and run but they noticed some nicks and paint loss on the side panel from a previous accident and fixed it for free. Yes.. Free.... It's like a $3000 work, and that's an aluminum panel so not easy to work with. I couldn't believe it. Man, these guys are amazing! Jr was always kind, helpful and quick to give me updates on the status of my truck. I am honestly shocked they did that for me. Good Points- the staff is very polite and the establishment is very clean. They take COVID protocols seriously. Bad points- they did not communicate with myself or my husband and they also didn't communicate with the insurance company. They had my car later than the date they said it would be done (not a big deal) HOWEVER, they didn't even call me on the day it was supposed to be done to tell me it would take longer. I had to call them daily right before closing for any updates. Because they didn't communicate with the insurance company, I had to return my rental and be out of a car. Also, other collision centers have cleaned both inside and outside the vehicle, caliber collision only detailed the outside. GREAT REPAIR THOUGH, just not great at communicating. read more

I was sent here from my insurance company because my car was hit while parked on the street. I filled out their intake papers online per their email. I wrote every detail of what was wrong with my vehicle from the accident. When i checked my vehicle in, I told the gentleman also every detail, the same at which was written in their online intake form. They had my car for a week. No big deal. I got a call on the Monday of the 2nd week. The guy said your car should be done by the end of the week. Never received a call. Week 3, no call so i call on that Friday morning. They said my car would be ready by 5pm, well i was working until 6pm & they close at 530pm. So the following Monday i go to pick it up. Visually everything looks good. I don't know that they didn't read their intake form or listen to me when i dropped it off. I go home, not far from the location. Next day, Tuesday I jump on the highway and boom my car feels like the wheel is about to fall off. This was written on my initial online intake form & told to the guy who checked me. I call. I spoke to someone who tells me he needs to speak to his manager and he would get right back to me. Crickets. The following day, Wednesday i call ALL day. No answer. No return calls. Thursday, today call 2x so far, still nothing. This is absolutely the worst customer service i have ever dealt with. DO NOT GO HERE. I want to start this review by saying that I have been a Caliber customer for many years. It was my place to go if my vehicle was damaged. They had a shop manager there named Jim many years ago, he passed away but under his watch the service was amazing! I took my vehicle there Oct 2022, the damage was minimal. My service advisor Ken was nice at first meeting but that was about it. After I dropped off my vehicle he never once called me with any progress report even though he took my cell phone number down telling me he would. They would never tell me when the work would be done, every time I called it was excuse after excuse. It was someone was on vacation, wrong part was ordered, and the worst one...the technician who is supposed to reassemble my vehicle's door was out sick and only he could put it back together. And for anyone who reads this thinking I'm joking or embellishing, I am not! I couldn't believe it myself. I asked the manager Javier if he would cover half the cost of my rental because I was paying for a rental everyday that they delayed. He was so agreeable on the phone, of course we can do that he said. They had my vehicle for 18 days for a job that should've taken max 7-10days. Even after having my vehicle for so long the repair was not done well. I didn't notice at first but someone pointed out that the area they repaired had the texture of orange peel skin, it was bumpy not smooth. In the end, after all the patience I gave them, I was charged fully for 18 days of rental and Caliber never reimbursed me, although they said that they would send me gift cards in the mail. Last time I called to follow up they said the gift cards were in the mail...It's been 5 months and still no gift cards from Caliber. I will never give Caliber my business again. I found an amazing body shop called Crash Champions. Their customer service is amazing, Henry Rivas my service advisor sent me regular updates, was straight with me about any issues and even offered to drive my vehicle to me and return the rental when the job was done- that's 5 star worthy customer service. Im gonna have to give this shop a no star rating. Them being an insurance approved shop i was under the impression that my vehicle was in good hands but ohhhh was i in for a surprise. My vehicle needed extensive work done for some comprehensive damages and during the weeks of repair my completion date kept getting pushed back and back and back. And due to the shop extending my due date i ran out of rental coverage and at that point the shop refused to provide me with there own rental vehicle as they continued repairs. On pick up day the person handling my work called me and notified me that there was an issue with the repair and that i could take it home but would have to bring it back for more repairs because of the poor workmanship. So on pick up day turns out they didn't mount my new roof properly to the point where it was never secure to the body of the vehicle. and the front windshield was mounted poorly so air was coming in on the freeway and they scratched my rear glass to where it had to be completely replaced and they scratched my fenders and bumper and mounted my interior trimming bad. They left my car completely dirty of paint overspray inside and out. The damages keep going on and on. I got my vehicle back with more damages then it was turned in with. So 6 weeks without my vehicle to be presented with poor workmanship and delays. My vehicle had to be redone all over by a new shop. So a 6 week repair turned into 5 months without my vehicle. Never again will i take a vehicle of mine to that shop nor refer them to any friends. Stay clear of this shop folks!!! read more

They were proactive about getting the parts that were needed on the delivery truck in order for work to be performed as soon as possible.
