Placed an order for 3 dozen cupcakes (different flavors). Communication was clear and prompt. I ended up rescheduling the birthday party for a Sunday (bakery is closed on Sundays). Grateful the owner was able to meet us for pick up because we are from out of town and couldn't pick them up the day before. read more

My wife bought our wedding cake here back in 2004 and it was the best tasting cake i ever had even to this day. So I thought i would surprise my wife for her birthday with a great cake by coming to Calico Cake Shop. I brought home a 8 in cake and let me tell you my wife freaked out over this cake she was overjoyed by getting a Calico cake again. The cake was so moist and chocolatey and the mousse filling was over the top. I had that nauseous feeling in my head after eating a slice it was so sweet. Called the shop and asked if they have any available cakes for my son, the lady was very kind to assist me with my order and took payment over the phone, once I got there she boxed my order and showed me cake toppers they have available, very friendly and helpful, I ended up getting Sesame Street to match with my balloons! Asked the baker to decorate for me and she was so nice and even added some sprinkles! It came out so cute! My son was so happy he keeps touching his cake while taking pictures!! I pass by this shop as I run my errand and pop in for a quick look. Really surprise to find wall to wall of cake supplies, from pan, to cookie mold, frosting bag, and sugar confection for cake decoration. It's a very cute place. Like a mini IKEA for cake making. The lady in charge seems a bit offended that I bother her with a question so I pay for a slice of rainbow cake and get out of her hair. Once in a safer space, I dig into the cake. The colorful sponge inside is soft and moist but the icing outside is similar to sugar candy. It's crusty like the icing sold at a general store. I could only eat half as it's way too sweet. Unlikely to come back and be judged by the unfriendly owner. read more

I got invite to the Fiesta Birthday party and I have sweet tooth and by the time they sing HPBD and cut the cakes (they had 3 cakes) and my most favorites one of all 3 is Horchata and I had to ask to know who made those cakes. Now let me tell you about the Horchata cake. The cake decorations was amazing look @ the picture, the texture of the cake was so moist, No too sweet, I ate 1 bite and couldn't stop and had to go for second piece. I have my son birthday this October and will definitely stop by and order it. Had a delicious graduation cake from here that was super moist and flavorful. The strawberry fruit filling between each of the 4 layers was an amazing compliment to the white cake and the frosting perfectly sweet without being overpowering. I wish I knew about this place when I was still living in California! This is such a find and most of the confectionary and equipment I need for baking. The cashier was so friendly and helped me find all the candy melt that I needed. The place looked big on the outside but surprisingly cramped inside. The items are organized accordingly and there's a staff that can help you find what you need The only thing I have a problem was the location. You wouldn't be able to find the place unless you were looking for it. My brother recommended me the place and I told him I never heard of the place. This was my first time ever ordering from this cake shop. I had a wonderful experience ordering my custom birthday cake. I ordered a 6 inch funfetti custom cake with horchata mousse. The horchata mousse filling was delicious, it tasted just like horchata. The cake was also very moist and not too sweet. I attached the inspiration/reference picture I wanted my cake to look like, and they replicated the picture perfectly!! I ordered my cake over the phone and the receptionist was very friendly. I've been going to Calico Cake for 15 years. There's new management but they are awesome. The story seems bigger by moving shelves around and they're all great staff keep up the good work staff everyone loves you that comes here. They have every kind of candy mold, boxes for different types of candy, decorations for cakes, several toppings, all colors, cake classes, etc. when you come for the first time, it looks like it's a tiny little shot but when you go in it's a good size one. I love this candy store and they seem to have the best candy than all the other places including Michael's. we love you calico cake! read more

Racialism exists, yes here in this store. I walked in today and the store was empty I asked for help and the lady walked past me, completely ignoring me and went to help a lady that walked in after me. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and waited for her to finish. She knew I had questions because as she rudely past by me I tried to let her know what I was looking for. After she finished helping the other lady (who wasn't Hispanic like I am) she just walked off and started doing another task, at this point, once again, I was the only customer in the store! I went to find her stood in front of her and she didn't acknowledge me. I left. But before I left I told her I had come to purchase items but I guess you do t want my business. This shop may look little on the outside but they are HUGE inside and they are amazing ladies it's my sons bday and his cake I ordered elsewhere was NEVER MADE. I came here in a sad attempt to try to decorate a really generic cake I purchased but the owner was willing to make and decorate a beautiful one for him in less than 2 hours !! She (actually both her and her decorator) truly saved the day and my sons bday cake!! I'm so grateful for small businesses like this because of the consideration! So I ordered premade icing for 50 cupcakes. Husband goes and picks up and the lady behind the counter gave him 38 POUNDS OF PREMADE ICING. Who uses 3/4 of icing per cupcake.
