The food was good overall. Plenty of seating and good atmosphere. I asked for an unsweetened tea and what I got was not tea. It was strange tasting. Asked them to get another and same strange taste. The shrimp had tails on still, the corn tortillas were not what I was used to but were good as long they stayed together. The sauce for the fajitas was fantastic! Excellent food. Friendly and helpful staff. Authentic and simplistic food that fills you up with out being too heavy and over done. This review is purely for service. Today, I have to give this place a 2 star. My co-worker and I arrived around 1145am for a quick lunch as we have one other time in the past. Not sure what is going on with this place but with both experiences they are slow to get the food out of the kitchen. Today we were the 2nd table to be sat. It took an hour to get both tables the lunch food. No explanation given. Not sure I'll come back for lunch. Their food is excellent, so it may be a favorite dinner spot. read more

My friends and I waited an hour and 30 minutes for our dinner until we decided to leave. The waitress was unattentive and it took 4 times of requesting water refills until I actually received my beverage. When I requested she bring us the complimentary chips and salsa, she told me that they were only for happy hour. I took the menu she left and pointed her attention to the "one free chips and salsa with dinner" message, then she huffed away and brought us chips. The owner/manager should have come to our table sooner, the waitress should have kept us updated on the food, and chips and salsa should have been at our table several times while we waited patiently. When we got up to leave, the owner rushed to our table to inform us the food was ready and she would comp our drinks but not our food. We only had a total of four alcoholic beverages at a table of 6 people, not to mention their beverages were poured in small plastic cups. We would have ordered more drinks with dinner or more chips to balance the tipsy. This is all the things you don't do in order to loose customers. The food is good, but we left it to the unappreciative waitress and owner to figure out what to do with it. For shame! read more

I ate there a couple of weeks ago and the food was delicious. It was authentic with a nice selection of dishes. I thought the value was terrific. There is also a nice selection of beer, if you are so inclined. I found the seviche to be fabulous. As good as any I've had anywhere. The only semi-downer was the service left a bit to be desired, but it wouldn't prevent me from returning. I would rate the service as a B+. I've had a lot worse service in more expensive/exclusive establishment. Overall it was an A- experience. I'm heading back next week. read more

The food was really good (tacos: A+, pupusa: A+, cheese dip B,) I regret not trying this restaurant sooner. I couldn't stop thinking about their food and came back the very next day for more. So excited they deliver !! It was awesome to make margaritas at home and then have fresh Latin food delivered to our door! We ordered the enchiladas mole and papusas. The enchiladas were pretty good, a tad dry. But the papusas were delicious! Will definitely order again. They came with some kind of Latin slaw that was really good. If I could give them a negative 100, I would. We had the worst experience here. No margaritas, a huge mixup with our appetizers, and my husband never got his meal. Our waitress had no idea what was on the menu. After telling her numerous times that I wanted the 2 taco meal, she forgets to bring me my meal, and then when I asked her about it, she brings me 1 taco. No amount of pointing to the menu, my husband's attempt at speaking Spanish, and using our hands to order would they get our order right. We went straight to the McD's next door. You know it's bad when McD's is your best choice. The food is terrible. My husband is a great cook and he could tell the salsa and chips were from a bag and a jar from the grocery store. The yucca and chicarrones were SO dry and hard to chew that we knew they simply just heated the items up in a microwave after it's been sitting out. Papupas were so soggy. Again, it was like they microwaved it straight from the package. If you want good Papusas, go to Lupita's down the street..they're delicious there. As my husband says, "the only thing 'caliente' about this place will be your temper when you eat there!" We will not return. read more

I wanted to like this place but come away disappointed. Service is very slow. Drinks - we were there on Sunday and 4 big margaritas for $56 bucks - and can't taste the booze. Went there on a Saturday night. Wait staff is definitely not attentive and very nanchalant. Food was good, I got the two steak tacos with rice n beans and my husband ordered the Pupusas. Pupusas where on point and deelish!.... We usually drive to pg or dc for them since we couldnt find any yummy ones here in Annapolis. If the staff was a little more attentive and greeted you right as you come in, this place we be great! Forgot to mention the owner was to busy sitting at the bar throwing back some beers and watching the staff work.... He should have been at the door seating his customers.... The Food here is delicious. My second time here we sat at the bar. The bar tender was making drinks for tables and never says a word to us. After several minutes I ask "hey man can we eat here or what ??" "He then says y'all want to order drinks!" We got up and left. My friend and I decided to stop there for dinner. She was craving a Margarita. We went this past Wednesday night. We were excited to see they had added a chile relleno to the menu as this is a favorite ! We both ordered it and couldn't wait to get it. Meanwhile we had a drink. My friend had a Margarita which she said was tasty. I had a tangueray and tonic. When our server delivered ojr drinks she informed me that she had used the last of the tangueray so I guess I couldn't get a refill. She then delivered our entrees. The chile relleno was awful! It was filled with pulverized chicken puree. It was a pile of cold mushy yuck! What a disappointment. Sadly, will not be going back. read more

Everything was great. Not a standard run of the mill Mexican place. I had the tacos which were great. The tortillas were thick and I'm not used to that. It didn't stop them from being great. The salsa was really good too. My son had the cheese dip and that too wasn't standard stuff. Everything was well thought out and executed well. Good food can be had here. I always begin my assessment of this kind of cuisine with the salsa and chips they bring out when you first sit down. Caliente serves up a tasty, spicy salsa, but the chips are unsalted. I guess that's more authentic. I just pick up the salt shaker and salt them myself. A good selection of beers, margaritas and mixed drinks. The menu offers the usual tacos and enchiladas as well as some more unusual dishes not found elsewhere. It's all very, very good. The staff is super nice and friendly, although it sometimes seems to take a while before your meal is delivered to your table. Bottom line: great food at decent prices. read more

Went for lunch on a Saturday. I ordered a dish a with yucca and 15 minutes later was told they were out of yucca. I was looking forward to that and just ordered a quesadilla. My husband ordered salad with steak and chicken. It took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. There was no apology for the delay. The food was fair but the meat on the salad was cold. There were clear timing issues with the food. While there were a fair number of takeout orders, we were the only table in the restaurant. We won't be back despite the food looking great. My son loved his quesadilla, my Texas-born husband was really impressed by the tacos, and my veggie quesadilla was really yummy. It didn't taste like your standard quesadilla. Eaten there three times and loved each dish. Today my husband got their version of a shrimp cocktail, which was actually a gigantic goblet of chopped shrimp swimming in a tomato gazpacho, for $20. He will eat that almost every time we return. Today I had the lunch chicken special for $9 - a chicken leg and back cooked really well with some rice,some vegetables, and a salad of lettuce, tomato, and cucumber. It was just the right size for lunch. I can't eat spicy food, and so they make me bland food. The fajitas are also excellent as is an enormous dish called paparilla xxxx. This is one of the best restaurants I've gone to. We waited no more than 30 minutes for our food, and the food was amazing. The food is well presented and prepared, and we never have any issues with our food. It is always cooked properly and to our liking. No one is ever there, and this restaurant needs to be appreciated more. If you are in Annapolis, this is a restaurant you definitely have to check out!
