Their chicken is nicely fall off the bone tender, and perfectly moist. However, it's seasoned too heavily with herbs for my taste. It's a bit overpowering. With meat so tender, I want to taste more of the meat. Same goes for just about everything else I've had on their menu including their roasted potatoes...nicely cooked, but too much herbs. Broccoli soup was also not bad, considering their claim that it contains no cream. nice and healthy, without sacrificing too much by way of taste. The thing with this place it's healthy food. Drove about 5 miles in the rain to come to California chicken Café tonight. Came in and the girl very rudely said sorry dark meat only. Although there were about 20 chickens in the rotisserie it looks ready to be served up, she told me they have a backlog of orders and she just couldn't sell me anything other than dark me. This place should be renamed California Chinese Chicken Salad Cafe. As far as I'm concerned, that's the only reason to come here. It's the second best Chinese Chicken Salad in town, next to Feast From the East. All the ingredients are fresh because the place must make 5,000 of these a day on average. True story. Go to the location on Wilshire for dinner time. You'll see all the fit Brentwood people come in to order this salad. Everybody in line is ordering this salad and laughing at all the people from out of town who order something different. For lunch, I go to the location on Lincoln. The customers are less attractive than those in Brentwood, but the salad is fresh, so I grin and bear sitting around all the ugly people because this one is closer to my work. read more

I was totally already planning on hitting the new CCC by my apartment, when they so thoughtfully sent me a coupon in the mail, celebrating their new location. For six bucks, I got a half chicken (and, oddly enough, three wings), side of squash, side of fruit salad, plenty of pita, and a drink. Oh, CCC, you never disappoint. Chicken was juicy, with perfectly roasted crisp skin. I couldn't eat the whole thing if I tried. Squash is yummy and healthy. Fruit salad was fresh and included such little-seen fruit salad components as PEACHES and ripe STRAWBERRIES. Amazing, I know. New location is bigger and more spacious than Westwood location. Everything is shiny new, of course. Staff was incredibly nice and very patient with wacked out couple in front of me who could NOT decide how to feed twenty-odd people. Service was quick and with a smile. And, I don't know if I missed this at Westwood, but they serve wine!!! read more

This place is shockingly good. It looks like it would just be another average rotisserie chicken place but they manage to make the food options unique and ACTUALLY fresh vs a lot of places that just call themselves fresh. The california chicken salad is unbelievable...all of their chicken is moist and tender and it is piled in this salad with giant chunks of avocado, goat cheese, pita chips, veggies, pasta, and the dressing of your choice. I could it eat it every day! Huge portions also. My other favorite thing is the Primavera wrap, with the same fresh chicken wrapped in a pita with a variety of veggies, sprouts, carrots, tomatoes, and ranch dressing. Always reliable if you want a fast meal and don't want to break the bank while still being healthy. I never feel that "sick-full" feeling after and I always get enough food. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is that the take out service can be a bit slow when waiting to pick up your food but other than that they are awesome! read more

Moist, juicy, delicious chicken. I split the 1/2 chicken and 2 sides. I tried the house made BBQ sauce, but because the chicken was so tasty, I didn't need any sauce on the chicken! The mashed potatoes were super creamy and the vegetable soup had huge hunks of veg in it. I also tried my mom's chinese chicken salad which had a great salad to dressing ratio. Lunch time haven, all chicken errrr-thang. Oh man! This place is great, clean facility, healthy choices, but the parking sucks so good luck on that part. I ordered a Chicken Cesar salad, it was HUGE, I mean I ate half and had the other half for a snack/dinner later on that evening, and it came with pita bread to make your own "chicken cesar salad wrap". The chicken was cubed goodness, the salad was all I needed that day at the beach. Mini me got the kids chicken meal, she had a drumstick (I can't remember if it was one or two), salad and a drink. She tore it up. My lil cuz got the wrap, so bomb, I had a bite and I wanted more but I had to control myself. She also got the broccolli soup which I thought was disgusting but I'm not a broccolli fan. I think they even had complementary raspados (for the spanish impared that means shaved ice). I used to go to this location all the time when I worked in Santa Monica. Yeah, I know, why am I going to one in Venice when there's one in SM? Because 1) it was on my way home (to the South Bay) and 2) sometimes I wanted to get farther than a couple blocks away from my work so I'd drive to go get it. I know. I'm strange. This one is much more spacious than the other two I've been to (Westwood & SM) and like others have mentioned, you can get wine/beer here. However, I've never imbibed as it was either lunch time or I was driving and hungry... and a drink on an empty stomach is just asking for trouble! ;) I'm a creature of habit and took a liking to their ceasar salad with chicken. I fell in LOVE with their croutons (which are seasoned pita chips) so I always get a extra side to snack on when I'm driving or just for when the hankering for seasoned pita chips hits me. Either way, if you don't want to wait in line, program their number into your cell phone and call it in so you don't have to wait. (But I've rarely seen a long line...like the Westwood/SM locales.) This is like a glorified, chic, el pollo loco. Don't get me wrong, this place wasn't half bad, but it wasn't all that great either and for the cost its not that great. You walk in and see the food in assembly line style fashion. I ordered the chinese chicken salad and it comes with some pasta thrown in for some texture. The hubby got the low cal caesar and a side of chicken breast. The chicken skin is crispy and the meat itself is moist, but it lacked flavor. It needed a little lemon or something to zest it up. I have no idea what they put in their wraps but good lord I feel like there may be crack in it. They're sooo good! For a reasonable price, $10 something I think, I can get a wrap (Chicken Wrap on Whole Wheat OR Chinese Wrap on Whole wheat are my favs) and a side caesar salad! When they have order mistakes, they send the mistakes to the next customer! I double scored bonus points on my to go orders a couple times when I only paid for a wrap and side salad and got 2 wraps and a side salad. You can't beat occassional free food, am I right? The place is super clean, great spot for lunch. You'll often find SMPD regulars in here as well so you know it's a good place! Parking is available in the Fox lot next door or on the street. So tasty! Perfect quick lunch place. The salads are enormous and so good. The chicken is warm and juicy and the salads come pre-tossed. Of course, this probably makes it more calorific than if you got the dressing on the side but it's so good it's worth it! A group of friends and I are not from this area so we searched on Yelp for a nearby & cheap restaurant for some good food. We came across CCC. The first thing you worry about these areas is the parking. The parking is not bad or difficult to find. The wraps here are delicious. For those who are vegetarian, they have a vegetarian wrap as well. Their salads come in big portions and everything you get will definitely be your money's worth because they fill you up! After we all finished our food, we were all satisfied and full :) It's a bummer that they do not have one of these restaurants near OC. read more

I love nothing more than to be invited to go to CCC for lunch! This place has delicious food. My favorite thing to get here is definitely the Rice Wrap. I love to add some chili sauce to it for some extra KERPLOW! Too bad my body always overreacts when I eat the stuff. Not only is it always packed, but the seats are cemented to the ground, so it is difficult to get a bigger group together while eating. The seats are also kind of close to each other, which makes for some fun eavesdropping and elbow bumping. The best part about the Venice location is that you can enjoy this meal on Sundays! Good food at good prices. The skin on the roasted chicken is a tangy and tasty delight. I usually go for the 3 piece dark chicken meal. The only thing I don't like here are the mashed potatoes. They are mealy and have a strange texture as if they were pressed through a strainer and a bit on the watery side. They should add some roasted garlic IMO to get rid of the mealy smell. The people here are always nice. Note to manager, I saw that the water level in the toilet bowl was low. This being a Toto toilet I knew what the easy fix was. Toto toilets have a filling hose that needs to be pointed into the long tube in the middle. As happens so often when anyone does work on these toilets they mistakenly point it into the tank so the bowl doesn't get properly filled. Though the hose was a bit short, I fixed the toilet for you guys and now your bowl water level is back to normal. You're welcome! read more

I first started coming to CCC at the Hollywood location back in 2003. Since then, I've frequented the location on Roscoe in the valley and I'm a weekly fixture at the Venice location. Your food is consistently delicious and the quality and speed of service you provide at all your locations is remarkable. The reason this is not a five-star review is two-fold: 1) considering the volume of traffic, you ought to place a tip jar at the counter for the staff members. 2) The management/owner ought to consider revoking the discount you offer to police officers. Frankly, cops can't be trusted. If uniformed officers find their way into the place of their own accord, there's no harm in that, but encouraging their presence is not a wise choice and is generally unsafe. For a chain this is off the chain. This place has huge portions on the salad, Chinese Chicken Salad. Their potatoes are flavorful, definitely get them. The wrap was good as you can't really mess that up. They have a ton of sauces to use at the help yourself station. They have a huge clean seating area. For the most part I love this place. The toppings on the salad and the variety is pretty nice. They're generally quick and the service has been consistently great, but some of the employees aren't the happiest (not that I can blame them, it's a thankless job). The salads, my favorite thing here, are all pretty good with ONE giant caveat. WHY CAN'T YOU PICK THE GREENS? No spinach. No kale, no spring mix, etc. Just romaine. Always damn romaine. Spent 85 dollars on dinner and due to new policies, no pita was given with my whole chicken. Upon getting my order, I saw no pita bread was given and asked for some pita in which they took a long time or about 5-minutes. I ended up getting only 3 pieces of pita where I asked for 6 which I have been used to getting for 10+ years. I then asked nicely for 3 more and was refused. Asked to talk to the manager and she stated that I have to pay 30 cents more for 3 more pitas. 10+ years that CCC is willing to give up on a solid customer due to 30 cents. Oh well. California Chicken Cafe has one of the best concepts a "fast-food-restaurant" can have. The reason I say fast-food-restaurant is because they are nice enough to dine in, but also fast enough for your on-the-go eaters. There is no waiting for a waiter and the wait times on food is usually 10 minutes tops...and that is during their busy lunch time. This is so nice if you only get a 30 minute break for lunch. The Santa Monica location is by far the best location as their is ample parking at the Fox Lot and Smart and Final located next door. I always seem to find a spot right out front though every day around lunch time. The food has consistency! Every time I order a chicken caesar wrap or a salad it tastes exactly how it did the time before: delicious! The service is friendly and you can always find a table to eat at, which isn't always the case for the Hollywood location. I always take friends who are in town to CCC so they can experience how great the concept really is. If you like chicken, you really won't find a better fast-food-restaurant than this. YUM and cheap. This place is what the Sonoma Chicken Coop could have been. They too are a local chain with insanely moist, tasty chicken, but they have a simple clean dining room instead of a two story palace of pretense. People love the combo wrap, which I suppose grew on me as I ate it and noticed the tasty avocado filling. But the real winner was the 1/4 dark chicken. Yum yum yum and $4.50. read more

This is my go-to-place when I'm craving chicken. I usually get the 3 piece combo with hot potatoes and whole wheat pitas. (Side note: they're really generous with the pitas and will give you more than you need.) The way they prepare the food is very clean and healthy. The restaurant itself is very clean as well, though I rarely eat there. We get takeouts. I love how you can call in ahead to place your order and pick it up at your own convenience. My hubs alternates between ordering the chicken wrap and the chicken salad; he loves both equally. Of all the fast foods out there, this is a pretty healthy and wholesome meal! read more

I've only eaten at two other branches - Encino and Melrose - both are great. This one's great, too, at least for the chicken - I had two breasts and wings and they were perfect. But at the other branches I've loved the chicken pasta salad in kind of a thousand island sauce - it was grotesque at this branch and I threw it out and got the small Caesar, which was great. read more
