When "large" isn't large. We've often enjoyed Burger Lounge, but this recent order was a disappointment. What was labeled as a "large" onion rings was a far cry from what's shown--and definitely not the generous portions we've received in the past. Compare the attached pictures: what they advertise as a large is nowhere near what we actually received. Ordering through Uber Eats meant the platform couldn't help, leaving us with no resolution or refund. Ultimately, this feels like either false advertising or a significant drop in quality control. We have ordered from Burger Lounge several times. The burgers are good but they are so freakin expensive, it's just crazy. Today we placed an order through DoorDash and the employee gave our driver the wrong bag which was clearly marked for an Uber Eats delivery driver. When my husband called Burger Lounge to fix their mistake, he was told in so many words that it was not their problem and WE had to fix THEIR mistake by reordering through DoorDash and getting a refund for the wrong order. We waited an hour for the delivery and we were hungry. We were not going to waiting another freakin hour or more to reorder. Burger Lounge is a small chain, somewhat new in Los Angeles. This one is located in Marina Del Rey. Parking is free in the underground lot or on the street. It is on a corner of a block long strip mall and is cute. The place outside is lovely. You can at times dine outdoors, but there is plenty of seating inside in comfortable booths or at their counter. It is super cute inside and really clean. The service is great. This is why they have 4 stars from me, they really deserved 3, but I think they just need to pay more attention to what they are cooking. The staff is very nice and helpful. You order your food at the counter and they bring it to you when it is ready. It comes looking nice and organized. Where they fail is in their burger department. They are dry, too well done, and just sort of bland. Now, they have great ingredients I know they could cook up a great burger. The French fries were just so boring. The onion rings were quite good and they have wonderful milk shacks. They also have cool craft sodas on tap and I think they have beer. Their pan fried cod sandwich is good, but needs a little something, it is just bland. I know they can work on this because they have all the stuff you would want. Their pricing is very high for what you get. I would not mind if the food was so great, again I think it could be. It just needs a touch of something to make it super yummy. I checked my app multiple times and then at some point it said it was delivered 12 minutes ago. I went down to my hotel lobby and it was there. I took my wife and daughter out to lunch here. It was our first time visiting. My wife and daughter ordered the Burger Lounge burger to their specification. I ordered the grilled codfish sandwich. The presentation for all of the sandwiches was excellent. My wife and daughter loved their burger. It was love at first bite. On the other hand, I did not enjoy the cod sandwich. It was flavorless, in my opinion. My daughter and I rated the cod sandwich a four out of 10. However, my daughter enjoyed the fries, and She gave them a seven out of 10. We all love the onion rings. They were scrumptiously delightful. They were seasoned and fried to perfection. We all rated them a 10 out of 10 and said they are the best onion rings we have ever tasted. The Service was good, and the atmosphere was great. We will return even if it's only for the onion rings because they are worth it. We like all of their marketing material in Burger Lounge, especially the part about how we make real food for real people. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Burger Lounge in Marina Del Ray. *Burger Lounge One of the Best in Town* Been a big fan of Burger Lounge since the first location on the Westside debuted years ago in Beverly Hills. It's always been a homerun and sometimes even a grandslam. On this particular visit, I observed National Cheeseburger Day. I started receiving emails the previous week about it & their one day only, $5 Burger Special. I love a great burger and as an ex-vegan, I don't eat much meat & cheese or gluten. But when I do, I know what I want & how I want it...and started planing my Sunday Burgerfest a week in advance :) The one thing I really like about BL is they allow me to customize my own burger and have it my way -- unlike those other so-called places that don't allow any omissions or substitutions...and have silly burger rules. The moment I stepped foot inside BL I was warmly greeted by Kevin who was upbeat...full of charisma...and a wide smile as big as a cheeseburger. Placed my simple order consisting of 2 plain standard grass-fed lounge burgers, while engaged in a nice conversation with Kevin, then told my takeout will be ready in 10 minutes. BL has excellent French fries & onion rings but decided not to overindulge and keep it a little more clean & simple. BL also offers plant-based burgers that I've never tried because I prefer the real thing. I've also enjoyed some of their salads through the years -- especially the Quinoa Salad which is now only seasonal. And they used to have THE BEST Seared Albacore Tuna Sandwich which was replaced for Fried Cod...and wish they can bring back the Albacore. My wife inquired about their Lavender-Mint Lemonade and wanted to know if it's too sweet. And what did customer-driven Kevin do? Offered & provided her a free sample. Unfortunately, she thought it was a bit too sweet & sugary. Made a quick trip to Gelson's that's located underground in the same shopping plaza to quickly grab an item, while wifey headed nearby to Ulta Beauty. When I got back to BL I noticed a cool sign on the sidewalk that I took a pic of to post on Yelp. Kevin saw me from the inside and came outside to hand-deliver my bag of burgers. I was so impressed with his kind gesture, we struck up another interesting conversation about the importance of great customer service and how it's these little things in life that all add up at the end of the day. As for the burgers...they were very good and charred perfectly on the outside. But it was a little bit overcooked and not as juicy as my previous experiences. The burger still satisfied my craving -- deserving of a 4 star rating. BL has solid & firm yet pillowy buns that holds up well and look divine like an old-school pair of Calvin Klein's. But Kevin's award winning personality pushed my 4 star burgers over the edge with a high-five. The food is very good, served timely and again by the friendly staff, and inquiring whether anything else is needed. The one girl at the front cashier, with long dark hair, and attractive is most pleasant and sweet spoken. The only person who seemed to have real customer service was the other staff member that dropped the food off. However, the reason I gave -1 to a 3 stars is because of the fries. For a place that has very good burgers, the fries are flavorless. Not even a matter of adding more salt but the fries almost taste like it was frozen and all the natural potato taste is gone. Is it a matter of using better quality of potatoes? Idk...but the fries should be avoided if this is normal. It was my first time visiting. I would definitely go back for the burger but a oid the fries unless it changes.
