We stopped here to eat on our way to a winery in Madera. Didn't want to drink on an empty stomach. Not knowing the area, I was side eyeing it at first. A few blocks away everything seems to be getting remodeled. Like they were getting a whole new town. They had not yet reached this block. I'm not sure if that is a god or bad thing. It's an old diner. The lady sitting in the booth behind us seemed like a regular. We ordered our food and it was super fresh and quite delicious. An older gentleman seated us but I'm guessing it was either his daughter or possibly a granddaughter that took our order. She was sweet as pie. It's December 28, 2025. I'm in Stockton for a family event and I came here for breakfast. My first visit. This is relaxed dining. And it is superb. The menu has many nice choices and I went with steak and eggs for breakfast. The steak was cooked just right and was tender, the eggs were scrambled and were done nicely. I absolutely loved the grilled potatoes, and the sourdough toast was a nice touch also. Prices are excellent. I love places like this. Great food at great prices in a relaxed atmosphere. Oh man, this checked all the boxes. crispy hash browns, diner mug, crisp bacon, funky bread that's kind of warped and lathered sporadically with butter, ca couple little plastic tubs of jam, and the requisite little glass salt and pepper shakers that no doubt are pre WWII. Best family run diner we've eaten at within a 50 mile radius. We've been eating here for a lot of years. Food is consistently delicious, fresh ingredients, prepared with love and always piping hot. Service can be a little, um, "quirky" from time to time, but if you bring a smile, you'll get a smile back - every time. The food was very, very good. The service was also incredible. Here's my complaint though. The day I was here, there was a man sitting at the counter, clearly a local and regular here. He sat and played loud videos on his phone almost the whole time, it was obnoxious. The only break in this behavior was when he jumped on a call, on Speaker! To talk with someone loudly enough for the whole place to hear. The owners seem like very nice folks, they really should do something about this guy and his behavior, if I was local here, I wouldn't come back after this experience. I've been coming to Duck Nook for 20 years. The Duck decor is cute and feels like an old gramma a kitchen. The staff is quiet but efficient. Always have what I need, drinks are full, and coffee is strong. I always get the all meat omelette with a side of country gravy and hash browns. Better than I can ever make. I love this little hole in the wall restaurant. The food is really good, and the portions are perfect. The owners are obviously a family. They have their kids with them in a back booth. I have actually been going there quite often since I found them about 8 years ago. It's a short walk from my house, which helps a lot when I just want to grab breakfast on the weekend without having to drive somewhere. They have both American Food and Mexican Food. I hadn't been here in quite some time and my friend chose it for our brunch date so I was excited to see if their food was still as good as I remembered and it was. We ordered the No Meat Please, Veggie omelet and the ABC scramble which came with your choice of country potatoes or hash browns and toast. Portions were good sized and our server made sure our coffee cups were never empty. I remember the Duck Waffle combo, club sandwich and French fries being really good as well from past visits. My only issue was the parking situation. They have a really tiny lot behind the restaurant and some street parking but the area is a little sketch so I chose to park out front on the street where I could keep an eye on my car. "Never judge a book by its cover." This holds true because of the location you would never guess this is a gem. I've been living in Stockton all my life and I've always heard about this place but never had the chance to go. This morning I decided to take my nephews and niece for breakfast. I let one of my nephews choose the place and he searched online "good breakfast places in Stockton." Duck Nook was the first one so he asked to go there. This was all our first time and it was not what we expected. We parked in the back and my nephew said are you sure this is the place. The outside isn't as inviting but when you walk in, it looks like a sweet country diner. The servers were great. Duck hunting, water skiing, sailing and working at the Port of Stockton make for an appetite, but no worries, as Duck Nook Restaurant is located on the fringes of downtown, off the "miracle mile," and serves amazing diner cuisine. As you enter the restaurant, you'll see the counter to your left, and booths against the wall to the right. This is an "old school" diner, complete with raised stools at the long counter. The counter is in the center of the restaurant, and separates the "diner" section of the restaurant from the "dining room," which is slightly newer, and a bit more "upscale." The window to the kitchen is located at the extreme rear of the restaurant. There is nothing fancy about Duck Nook Restaurant, but it's "my kind" of place, as I love diners, and I savor diner cuisine. Duck Nook is serious about breakfast, and one section of the breakfast menu that features "Breakfast Specials." As I entered the restaurant, there was a white board posting today's breakfast "special" - which had a very definite Mexican flavor - but today... I just couldn't resist enjoying a breakfast of linguica and eggs. From the "Breakfast Specials" section of the breakfast menu, I ordered "Linguica and Eggs," which is one of the favorite breakfasts. The menu describes the breakfast as, "Butterflied and seared, two eggs, country potatoes with onions and spices, and your choice of toast. I describe this breakfast as DELICIOUS! I ordered an optional side of gravy, which compliments any breakfast. When Martha took my order, she gave me the choice of hashbrowns or country potatoes, and I went with the hashbrowns. The star of the breakfast was the butterflied, seared linguica, which was tender, juicy and perfectly cooked. I've enjoyed all of my life, and the chef cooked this fine sausage perfectly. My only gripe, and it's a minor one, is I thought the piece of sausage was a little on the small side. As per my de facto standard, I ordered my eggs fried over easy, and they arrived perfectly "over easy," which is a mark of a chef with talent. The hashbrowns were crispy-golden on the outside, and tender inside, just like hashbrowns should be served. The sourdough toast was fresh, hot and buttered. I covered my hashbrowns with the delicious country gravy, and used bits of toast to sop up what was left of the gravy in the bowl. Such a great breakfast! Duck Nook Restaurant serves delicious breakfast and lunch, in an "old school" diner, and makes a great destination when you're hungry for wonderful food, served by friendly people. Came in on a Saturday morning. Not very busy, maybe 7 or 8 others. Ok service. Not very welcoming but took our order and delivered food in a timely manner. Took a while to get the check. No refill on water. Food was ok as well. A bit expensive for the quality. Example. Charge a premium price of like 9 dollars for a two pancake short stack. And they were average at best. I've been coming here for over 10 years off and on since I was little and my great aunt took me here and has been a place my family went to regularly. Was eventually seated by the older gentleman who I've seen working here for a long time. Doesn't talk much but he seats you promptly when he sees you and always refills your glass or checks in every now and then. Very nice gentleman and the only pleasant one at the establishment. I wanted to order a burger which is my typical thing but the young waitress told me they aren't serving lunch with a attitude. So I order a omelette specifically because it has avocado and once I get it I'm told they were out of avocado. Do they discount my meal? Nope. Toast was burnt, and the omelette was lack luster. The waitress threw my bill down on the table and didn't even say a word, such as thank you or how was everything. After paying and headed out the waitress practically ran into me with a set of plates to the point where I had to step aside and didn't say a word to me. It is safe to say that this is the worst customer service I've had in awhile. The gentleman is the only redeeming thing about this place and is the only reason why I left a tip. I always leave a tip when at a restaurant, but I seriously considered leaving $0.02 as a tip to sink the message across that the waitress's service sucked and either she needs to get a new job or learn basic customer service skills or even some common courtesy. My advice to the business learn that customers pay your bills, have better customer service, and treat customers like they actually matter to you. Lost a long term customer today. Maybe I'll come back eventually but not anytime soon. read more

So i pull up to eat here for lunch, in parking lot. After a couple minutes to finish up my phone call a guy comes out says he's the owner and starts to tell me that i gotta go and cannot park here. He never asked me if i was there for the Restraunt , he just assumed i was not i guess. I guess i still gotta go eat lunch but it will never be here.
