First off, I travel from Santa Ynez, Ca. for the past 2 1/2 years to see Dr. Alan Shelton, which is a 6 hour round trip. To say I highly recommend him to all my friends and holistic health clients is an understatement. In May 2018, Dr. Shelton performed a cataract surgery in one eye and pretty much saved my vision in the other after a Santa Barbara "glaucoma specialist" surgery/after care went terribly wrong.. Dr. Shelton has been a godsend to me, being not only the most compassionate and deeply caring medical professional I have ever run across, but IMHO is probably the most skilled eye surgeon and combined glaucoma/cataract/dry eye specialist in the country. Never for one moment have I ever been afraid even when it was looking like the damage to my right eye from the other MD's surgery and post surgery treatment choices might be permanent. His calm demeanor and self assurance won my unwavering trust. He is a beyond the box, creative thinker that has come up with a glaucoma regimen that saves me from the many side effects that glaucoma eye drops are notorious for while preserving my vision and has come up with natural solutions for the dry eye that comes with the combo of age and glaucoma meds. To top it off,the state of the art testing equipment at Calif Eye Specialists is unparalleled for getting to the root of your eye problems. The above coming from a me, a holistic health care practitioner who rarely sees medical doctors, takes no medications prior to this, and never had a surgery in my 69 years says it all. I have found all the staff at the Pasadena clinic to be totally excellent with Kathy Flores keeping everything running like a clock. She has gone above and beyond to help me with any of my needs and is always calm and cheerful...even during Covid times. She is a rare find indeed. Walking into the cozy, well appointed Pasadena office is like being invited into someone's home. I feel pampered from the minute I walk in the door to the time I leave and even look forward to my visits. Okay, I was going to let this be. But, in talking to my insurance to get approval for a new fitting, it turns out that after: * the ill-fitting lenses * ignored complaints of eye pain and fluid leakage * having me mail the lenses back then refusing delivery, and finally * having me drop off the lenses in person, plus * making the insurance ask multiple times for their version of events, The office told my insurance they were refunding the fee to be done with me. They could have said I had legitimate complaints, or simply that we disagreed with my expectations for level of care. But instead, I found out that me being a tenacious advocate for myself caused me to be labeled a troublemaker, basically. I doubt anybody would accept that as high quality care. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Ashley Zsaton, and the very first thing she said--without even examining me--was, "This is not infected and it's not covered by your insurance." I reminded her that I had already been to this office three times in two months with different doctors. She glanced at my eye from about five feet away, then told me she would inject something into my eyelid to break it down--without ever actually checking under my eyelid to see what was there. Dr. Camara is nice, but his office team is not up to his standard. You can never get a hold of them on the phone! Today, I was on hold for 42 minutes, I was "next in line", but 42 minutes later, still holding... I even called from my other phone, talked with appointment setter and informed him of my hold time and why I need to speak with someone. I finally got through to someone in reception, I told them about my frustration with reaching them, asked if I could get my results read to me with the other doctor I am seeing a week later, but no help. So after I told her about my experience with them, she just said nonchalantly "ok", I was so pissed off about her lack of care , I just said cancel my appointments (3 total appointments, who has time for that!?) and hung up!! My elderly husband had 10am appointment to see a surgeon who sees patients at this location once a month. The parking lot was full so I had to drop him off and find street parking. The waiting room was packed with most elderly patients. After 45 minutes of waiting my husband was informed there are two patients ahead of him and this particular doctor's appointment usually takes two hours. At 10:55 he was taken in to perform tests that was already done yesterday to save time! He was then told to go back to the waiting room and there he is still waiting 2 and a half hours past his appointment time. Complete disorganization and lack of communication! read more

This is just my review, I was referred from Dr. Collins in Laguna Hills for a STAT visit regarding my hematoma in my right eye, the staff there made sure to get my in to see Dr. Amini within a week since I couldn't see in my right eye. Now upon reading other reviews about this facility, I was a bit worried since it was going to be a two and a half hour drive from where I was, I called to make sure they accepted my insurance and they gave me wonderful advice. I have HMO insurance, so that was a less hassle than PPO because I didn't have a copay, it was already authorized and the staff there was wondering when I called. They stated as long as I filled out the pre-check in and arrived fifteen or twenty minutes before my schedule appointment to make sure I get in on time; keep in mind this office is pretty and I can see why. (I'll tell you why in a minute). As my appointment was at 9:40am, I got there at 9am. ON THE DOT. and the parking is full, we got lucky as someone was leaving. They have a private parking lot, no pay meters unless it's full, you might have to park in the streets or can drop off. Once we were parked, we waited for fifteen minutes before going in, upon coming into the front lobby I was check up by a friendly receptionist, she even said thank you for pre checking online since it made things easier and smoother. The lobby was full but there were some empty chairs in the optimal glasses showcase area. Maybe I was lucky, maybe everything went smoothly, but I was check in with an MA at 9:41am, and I was on my way to see Dr. Amini. I was there for about an hour or so, I had to get injection in my eye but the staff and the doctor was so nice and helpful. Again, this is my experience, I know I read some before coming here and like I said, I was lucky. Timing and services was amazing, now it's day three and my eye is clearing up from the floated. The team was amazing, I can finally see clearly and can't wait for my next visit. It was my first time getting an injection in my eye, but the MA and Dr. Amini make sure I was comfortable and numb my eye before the procedure. I didn't feel a thing, and boy, was so happy until it wore off and definitely going to bring an ice bag next time since it was a long drive home for me. Worth the drive and I rewarded dim sum down the street, which was so gooooodd. Thank you to the wonderful staff for making my appointment so smooth and wasn't that long as people were stating on yelp. The worst company ever! No care for patients. I've been to two of their locations and bad experience on both. Rude front desk, one confused mre with other patient, waited 4 hours til she noticed!. Been trying to get glasses for my mom with special condition and it's been two years ! After being tossed from one Dr to another finally got someone who tried to solve our issue but when I call back because glasses (lense prescription) didn't work out they are saying the doctor who saw us doesn't have appointments the rest of the year!!?? I went to the Pasadena office for a photo of the back of my eye -- this was ordered by an Azul Vision doctor in Monrovia. It took me two months to get this appointment. I arrived at the scheduled time (10:15) and was not seen until NOON. Nearly two hours late -- the tech called me in and did some kind of periphery test rather than the photo that was ordered. He said he did the test that was ordered. Someone certainly had a typo in their brain. During my nearly 2 hour wait, the front desk staff acted like "Stepford wives" -- no sympathy, no sorry about that, nothing. Just told me to sit down and wait. I believe they take advantage as their patients are basically ordered there by Optum, which oversees "care" for the many of us on MediCare who have an HMO. read more

Zero stars should be an option due to front office staff and "manager". The scheduling is outsourced which doesn't ever coincide with the actual office. I've been told one location only to show up and then be told it was scheduled somewhere else. Or scheduled with one physician and then to be switched to another while you wait. Wrong type of appt.'s scheduled without any explanation. Staff shrug their shoulders and say "I don't know who scheduled you?" Manager is apathetic, which explains front office attitude. Terrible phone service. They have a new system and you cannot get through the main office. When you call you are referred to reservation center and they put you on hold forever. They sent me a confirmation the day before my appointment and cancelled my appointment the following day stating the Dr is off that day. I had this hard appointment to get for several weeks just to find out that they cancelled me the day before. This is just unprofessional. The Optical Dept has horrible customer service. I got my glasses in Jan 2023. A few wks later one of the lenses started popping out and the screws kept coming off. I went in twice and all they did was tighten the screws. Last Oct I went back for the 3rd time but this time I requested new frames since clearly there was a manufacturer error (seems that this is not offered unless you ask). I was told the new frames would be ready in 2 weeks. 1 month later I called for an update and couldn't get a hold of anyone. I left voicemails but never got a call back. I finally got thru on Jan 16 and was told that someone would call me the following day with an alternative solution. It's been over 10 days and no one has bothered to follow up as promised. I am in disbelief and appalled by the poor customer service in this establishment. I am searching for a new provider. A 1 star rating is way more than they deserve. They are in breach of contract and don't even care. They get negative stars from me. read more

I received care from here for over a year with no improvement. I think overall they provide competent care and I always had a good experience with Dr. Camara, but unfortunately I had to start seeing a specialist (Patel) to get treatment. This is where they got incompetent. You will wait at least an hour past your appointment time every time you go. You also will not be able to get an appointment to see your doctor within a month of when you need to see them. I've been trying to schedule a follow up for a year but they don't release schedules past a month so every time you call back to see if somethings available it will already be booked. Unhelpful call center, unsympathetic staff, really terrible experience. To top it off I lost vision in one of my eyes because of the lack of care I was able to receive. read more

Had an appt at 2:20 . Was taken back to the exam room they dilated my eyes . Then sat back in the waiting room not the exam room but back to the waiting room. It's 430 pm still waiting in the waiting room with other patients waiting to see doctor. It's 445 I asked the front desk what is going on I have not seen the doctor . Eyes were diluted along time ago at 220 pm. I have not seen the doctor and the front desk said the doctor is in a meeting . What!! I have been to this office a few times. Today experience is the worse and it's after it came under the umbrella of Azul Vision. Unprofessional, uncaring, and disrespectful of my time. I made an appointment to see my regular doctor Dr Warner. I called to confirm my appointment with Dr Warner this morning. I arrived at 2 pm and informed the receptionist I had an appointment with Dr Warner. When I was in the exam room, I found out Dr Warner was not there today. If I knew a mistake was made by the person scheduling the appointment, I would have rescheduled had I found out this morning or even at check in. My appointment was at 2:20. At 2:35, I checked and was told there was 1 patient ahead of me. At 2:50, I checked again. At 3, I was finally led to the exam room. At 3:20, I was still waiting for the doctor. I left my room to talk to a nurse. At 3:30, the doctor showed up and told me I was not on her list. Didn't her nurse tell her a patient was waiting? The consultation lasted 5 minutes and I had to schedule an appointment with my regular doctor. Appointment made and it's close to 4. I was in the office for 2 hours for a 5 minutes consultation. Wanted to talk to the manager about my experience. She was gone for the day. Well, it's definitely not a well ran facility. Young doctors and nurses walking around without a care. It was shocking enough when I was told 4 weeks but figured that was an outside number and would get them sooner so I agreed to that.
