Our daughter worked up a thirst from playing at Koret Playground Quarter, so we headed to California Kahve to explore our options. Connected to the playground, right outside the carousel, is their cart serving an array of hot and iced beverages, sandwiches and quiche, baked goods and parfait (wildflower lavender honey and homemade granola), and tickets for the carousel (purchased at the pickup window). The prices are reasonable with the exception of the latte, ingredient quality was exceptional and the wait times for pickup and ordering were minimal. The maple latte with cardamom rose came in a one and a half inch cup to my surprise. The flavor profile and craftsmanship were perfection, but at $7 my expectation for portion size was 8oz. The cup appeared child size at 4 oz as our daughter's butterfly lemonade( ($5) arrived in a 6-8 oz portion. My husband said his turkey sandwich ($14) was 8/10 leaving him thoroughly satisfied and fulfilled. Our daughter's chocolate chip cookie ($5) was large, chewy, moist and filled with lots of chocolate chips. Both sides of service were friendly, patient and presented smiles. One of my favorite spots in GG park! Cutest little cafe! I've enjoyed their seasonal matchas and gluten free dynamo donuts! I've tried the brie sandwich on gluten free bread and it was delicious. It normally comes on a a baguette but the normal bread was fine! Plenty of seating at the park but I usually take it to go! Usually gets loud with all the kids at the park. California Kahve is such a beautiful little café stop in Golden Gate Park. I tried both the butterfly peaflower latte and the seasonal organic blossom matcha, and both drinks were almost too pretty to drink. The peaflower latte was the highlight for me visually, soft blue color, delicate floral topping, and beautiful latte art. It felt very calming and special, especially with the flowers outside as the background. The seasonal organic blossom matcha was also refreshing, creamy, and nicely balanced, with a light earthy matcha flavor that was not too bitter. The café has a charming, floral, neighborhood feel, and it's a perfect stop before or after a walk in Golden Gate Park. My visit was also unintentionally eventful, the barista accidentally spilled a tiny bit of my drink while placing it on the counter, and I quickly helped wipe it up. She was very kind and told me I didn't have to do that, which made the interaction feel warm and human. Overall, California Kahve is a lovely spot for pretty drinks, a peaceful café moment, and a little San Francisco charm. What a cute little coffee shop nestled inside Golden Gate Park. My mother and I were walking around Stow lake and became parched and needed a pick me up and stumbled upon this establishment on Yelp. It was just a 20 minute walk and since we needed to get our steps in any way, we decided to trek towards California Kahve. Located next to the carousel, we found the line easily since there were an abundance of people waiting. The line went by fairly quickly and we were able to get our drinks in a timely matter. Dark chocolate orange mocha (5/5)- mocha was smooth and I loved the fresh orange peel shavings that brightened up the mocha. Delicious! Tumeric latte (4/5)- I loved the spices and how flavorful the latte was. The only gripe I have would be that the drink itself was a tad bit too sweet. Other than that, this was great. The sandwiches and quiches look great here too but I will be needing to come back to try those other items. read more

I was literally standing in line at 4:56 PM waiting to order when a staff member abruptly closed the window. The cashier never mentioned that they were taking their last order, and there was no communication to the customers who had been waiting in line. I completely understand that employees want to leave at the end of the day, but it's still important to treat customers with basic respect and communicate clearly. If the cafe is about to close or taking the last order, staff should politely inform the people who are already waiting instead of just shutting the window. This felt very unprofessional. Ok...I'm only just now discovering this spot even though I've worked around here for the past 8+ years. I've been missing out! This spot has DELICIOUS cafe drinks! When you think hidden gem, this is the literal definition of it. It's tucked away inside Golden Gate Park in a little kiosk near the carousel. In fact, if you want tickets to the carousel, they sell them here! I tried a few of their drinks and they hit it out the park...except they make it inside the park! They infuse a bunch of different things so it's not your normal run of the mill coffee or matcha. I tried their lavender mint matcha as well as their wildflower honey latte. The lavendar matcha had a unique taste as I haven't tried mint mixed with matcha so that was unique. The real winner was the wildflower honey latte. It may honestly be the best latte I've ever had. They mix in real wildflowers inside the latte. It warms you up so well especially on a cold morning in the park. The taste is so floral and unique, it's a must try! The service is amazing too, the staff working there are so nice, even more the reason to give these guys a try! read more

My best friend lives in Berkeley and has a three(nager) IYKYK. We decided to meet up here for a play date. The adults can enjoy caffeinated beverages and the kiddo can play at Koret Children's playground. What we didn't anticipate was how much she would LOVE the carousel and that she would want to ride it again and again and again. The sweet owner of the California Kahve also manages and runs the carousel. So here's a new drinking game for the adults. Such a cute cafe in Golden Gate Park! I stopped by early on a Wed morning and while there weren't many people around this area near the carousel and playground, I spotted this adorable cafe and ended up getting a wildflower honey oat latte which was the perfect morning pick-me-up that I needed on a cold day. The honey was a nice sweet compliment to the espresso and the drink was really smooth. I asked about a couple of pastries and there was a piece of chocolate banana bread that was broken and the barista offered to let me have it for a sample. It was pretty much the entire slice and absolutely delicious. So decadent and perfect with the latte. Such friendly service! So I was feeling hangry and I needed food - quickly. Lucky for me, California Kahve was just an 8 min walk away. This shop is so misleading because tell me why a cute LITTLE coffee stand, has such HUGE croissants. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I was just pleasantly shook. I got the almond croissant and in the photo you can see only 1/3 of it is sticking out of the bag and it's already massive. There's not too much filling in there, but honestly that's fine because it'll keep me from getting diabetes. I would like to note that the croissants do not get warmed up when you order them, but it's still pretty good and understandable considering how long the line was. Their coffee was my favorite! We came here on a chilly weekend day in SF. There was a group of people standing in front of the window. The left side is to pick up orders and get carousel tickets and the right side is to order drinks. The lines were a bit disorderly and difficult to know where you were supposed to be because the staff weren't really seeing us as we were standing there, and someone else had to tell us where to go to order, so I think there should be some clarity there or at least some attention paid to customers about where to stand. So excited that California Kahve has moved in here by the carousel. The old spot only offered old hot dogs and pretzels but now we have a wonderful coffee shop with fabulous baked goods tasty sandwiches and a huge coffee/tea selection. I've tried all their sandwiches and they are made on delicious baguettes. Top quality ingredients. The quiches are very yummy as well. The staff is incredibly friendly and always deliver service with a smile. The ambiance can't be beat. They've added several little bistro tables outside so now you can choose to eat in the plaza area vetween Sharon art studio and the carousel or walk it to the grassy park area or playground. As a San Francisco native, my family and I have always loved and supported Golden Gate Park and the businesses that operate inside it. During a recent visit with my children near the playground and merry-go-round area, we stopped at a CAFE CALIFORNIA KAHVE in the park and had a very disappointing experience. We politely asked for a napkin we couldn't see, and the staff member at the coffee counter responded with a sarcastic and rude remark instead of simple courtesy. This kind of customer service is unacceptable in a location that welcomes families and visitors from all over the world every day. Businesses operating in such an iconic park should understand that professionalism and respect toward customers are essential.
