Cafe International is a gem located on Haight and Fillmore in the Mission. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was searching for a cafe with outlets and wifi to work for the day and landed on this location - it's large, spacious, and has lots of seating and outlets scattered around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Initially, I thought this place was cash only based on other reviews, but the cashier informed me that they started taking credit cards last year after having their ATM robbed. I ordered 2 iced coffees which came with a cute gun-shaped piece of ice and a latte, although they do have several options for breakfast, lunch, and pastries. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It will get crowded towards the lunch hour and you might get asked to move if you're sitting alone at a large table like I was, which I didn't mind.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'll be back here to try their Turkish Coffee and work remotely next time I'm in the city and prefer to work away from the office.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Been here a few times. This place feels familiar, like an acquaintance you just kind of know, but not quite a friend yet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Maybe you both came from two different planets but somehow you ended up on earth, here in beautiful San Francisco. And then one of you invites the other over, maybe you order a sandwich or a snack and they get you some coffee, you settle in and start talking and you both start to click. Kind of like that. Comfy. I usually go for my Americano. Located on Haight & Fillmore.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Seems like a lovely community space with really sweet service and affordable prices![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got an iced latte, and they even mixed in coffee ice cubes with normal ones! The tuna bagel was yummy as well, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]on Sundays they have a live jazz band performing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's also a wonderful mural in the backyard.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Love cafe international! It's so cozy inside, the perfect place to spend a rainy day. The service is also great, feels very homey and the food is delicious. It's a great coworking place away from home

Cozy, cushy, old-school comfort zone. Great food, great atmosphere, great drinks, and great people. This isn't like most coffee shops or cafes in San Francisco! It almost closed down but the community rallied to save it, and the city is better for it. There's history here and it feels like home--something some of the newer, flashier cafes lack. Yummy croque monsieur and other sandwiches and baked goods. Very comfy seating.

staff were really friendly! [[HIGHLIGHT]]they apparently have a live band playing from 1-5pm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] the hot latte ($4+) was a good size, oat milk was an extra $1 and the total came up to $7. espresso could have been a bit stronger

This place is fantastic! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's very large, but has a cozy feel at the same time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Went at different times of the day on weekends and weekdays and there was always a choice of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On Saturday afternoon there was a jazz band that was excellent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff was wonderful. My most favorite thing was the iced latte that came with a pistol-shaped ice cube! Feels very local, no tourists with bus stop on the corner. Free wifi, great for studying or working, reading a book, knitting, etc. Love this place!

    Elizabeth Q.

Food: I ordered a Lox Bagel. I was surprised to see that the bagel came on a plate with the toppings neatly arranged on the side - and I found that I quite prefer it this way. It allows for the freedom of choice for what & how many toppings one would like to have at a time. Service: order at the counter and pick up when your name is called, then bus your own table. The owner is very welcoming and kind. Ambiance: Near the entrance, there are plenty of cozy plush chairs and couches to sink into. There are plenty of wooden tables and chairs as well in the majority of the cafe. This appears to be a great place to study, write, or work in peace. The cozy aspect is something I would return for.

When do they play live jazz? And, what time?

These days it's been Sunday mornings when they open and sometimes until after they close.

What time does the open mic sign up start and how long does it go for?

There are no open mics at this time.

So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

We chose this large city location thanks to easy parking and a convenient stop on our drive. It was a beautiful morning, which was easy to enjoy thanks to the high ceilings, big glass windows, and open main door. The first floor has a central counter to order food and drinks; the glass cabinet has a bunch of rotating pastries from a local bakery. They have restrooms and a merchandise area here too. At the front are counter seats along the front window, and also a horseshoe that looks into the roasting area, which is a great place to smell the beans. There's an upstairs loft that overlooks the cafe below, also with a test kitchen area and offices across to the front. They definitely have a larger business going on, and I can see why it's so popular. We ordered a latte, iced coffee, and various pastries to start our day. Prices were reasonable for the quality. The lady that I was watching was there for the matcha and I can understand why now. We tried the Yuzu Matcha Air Cloud and a Caramel Latte because I felt like we needed to try the coffee since it's a Coffee shop though I have to say I was not a fan of the coffee. We arrived just before the line outside started to form. There's seating available inside with a couple of people that seemed to be working. We originally sat in the middle section with the small round table that can't be moved but then a table opened up. There's a gender neutral restroom available that always seemed to have a line though I guess that's what happens at coffee shops. ~~Service: Good. It was quick to order and surprisingly very quick to receive our drinks as well. ~~Best Part: The Matcha. The coffee was a bit too bitter but it could be due to the fact that I do prefer to drink dark roasts. ~~Worst Part: Nit though maybe it's just me where we were expecting there to be a trash at the entrance so that we could throw away our cups as we were leaving but I guess there's no room for the bins at the beginning so you have to walk to the back towards the restroom to throw it away. ~~Tips: Get the matcha. I wanted to get the velvet but it looked so basic compared to the Yuzu matcha air cloud. The Yuzu flavor itself was refreshing in the foam form but I'm very basic when it comes to flavors and shouldn't have mixed the foam in because it was messing with me. ~~Return: Probably not. I wanted to check the receipt because somehow 2 drinks was nearly $20 but I realized there wasn't even an option to get a receipt.

Whether you are in the mood for a katsu sando, curry over rice, ochazuke with their matcha twist, or something sweet like the matcha cream pie, it is hard to go wrong here. All of the savory dishes I have tried have been great, but the fish katsu sando is one of my absolute favorites. The huge fish fillets are perfectly fried and flaky, tucked inside pillowy shokupan and topped with tangy yuzu shio koji sauce, tomato spread, and fresh crunchy cabbage. Every component works together beautifully, with richness, brightness, and texture all in balance. The pork katsu curry over rice is another standout. The katsu comes sliced into thick pieces that are still juicy inside, and it is fried expertly so the breading stays attached as you eat it. The curry has a really balanced flavor, even if I would not mind a little more spice, while the pickled radishes provide a nice contrast. I always add an onsen egg (for an additional $2) because breaking the runny yolk and mixing it into the curry adds another layer of velvety richness and creaminess. You can also tell they use high-quality matcha in their drinks, so the beverage menu is really more about choosing what fits your mood that day vs avoiding any bad options.
