Every weekend I take my dog to Crissy Field, and we make a point to stop by the Cow Hollow location. My only complaint? I just wish they opened before 8am! This spot is a charming little setup -- a small building with a walk-up window for ordering. Next to it, there are tables and chairs right by the water, making it the perfect post-walk treat stop. Dynamo always has fun seasonal flavors, but our go-tos are the same ones we served at our wedding: Maple Bacon Apple (my favorite) - a yeast donut with apple and bacon baked into the dough, topped with a maple glaze and crispy bacon. It's sweet, savory, and perfectly balanced. Gluten-Free Carrot Cake (my wife's favorite) - a cake donut that tastes exactly like carrot cake. You'd never guess it's gluten-free. This little cafe is right by one of the most scenic spots in SF - Crissy Field! I stopped by during a walk along the water. They have a few tables and chairs to enjoy your food and drinks there as well. I got a regular coffee, which I enjoyed, but the star of the show was the donut. I have been visiting Dynamo since I was an Undergrad student at USF in 2012; I would drive across town to the original location on Saturday mornings just to grab some treats to share with my classmates. Fast forward to 2024, I still look forward to this sweet treat and often plan my long Saturday run near the marina green preferably so my last few steps bring me straight to the little hut at the marina green. I'm a huge fan of their ability to create some fun monthly flavors including gluten free options. I'm not gluten free but I have to say, I find their GF to be pretty darn tasty; I often gravitate towards the flavors and am never disappointed. They have mastered the texture of the GF, it's hard to tell the difference, they really are that good. I have friends who are restricted to GF, so I've been forced to try a lot of these items and have to say, I've had my fair share of tasting items that are not enjoyable and would never eat again if I had to restrict myself to GF. I'm happy to report, dynamo cracked the code and their GF donuts are delicious As for their regular variety you can't go wrong with trying them out. I also recently had an apple maple donut with bacon which hit the mark for me as I love the sweet and savory combo. I was running a half marathon and got really hungry near Crissy Field. Very lucky to have Dynamo Donut in the tiny kiosk near the waterfront! It's an one-man booth here (literally only fits one person) and there's a lot of traffic so be prepared for a line. That said I got my donut right after ordering so it's a very fast line, it's no Arsicault. I got the Strawberry Elderflower donut which was amazing: fruity, flowery flavor on top of a cake-y donut. Amazing to grab such an awesome pastry and walk along the water in the Marina. Great hot girl walk destination forsure They also have dog treats which, if I were a dog, I'd be excited about. Definitely a lot of interesting donut flavors and we tried 5 of them, but flavors were hit or miss in my opinion. The donuts are either cake-based or the usual fried donut type. I did not prefer the cake type, possibly the one we tried was a vegan one that could have something to do with it, but it had a weird texture. The usual fried donut ones were very chewy and delicious, although flavors themselves were hit or miss. The passionfruit chocolate was my favorite, if you're a passionfruit lover, it is super true to flavor and I would get it again. The strawberry one was also fairly flavorful. I would stay away from the pineapple, it was very strange and did not taste like pineapple. The carrot cake one was the one that was like a cake, the flavor was good, but the cake itself was weirdly textured. The Maple apple bacon was also tasty as others have noted. As others have no date, the barista was not very friendly, but was not rude either, just did not have a smile and did not seem to particularly enjoy her job. That did not deter us, though, as her service was prompt and efficient. The donut shop is the little hut right at one end of the marina green but there are a few small tables and chairs to sit on with a view of the bay so a nice spot overall. read more

Come here for exotic flavored donuts with free parking and a view. This is the only donut place I know of in the city that has free easy parking. It's really cute, located in a little hut next to Crissy Field. I always sit and look out at the Bay or do a walk to the Wave Organ afterwards. The flavors here are a little more exotic and the donuts taste more dense and less fluffy that regular donuts. Two of my favorite things in life are chocolate and roses so I was happy because they have a chocolate rose donut. The rose flavor is subtle, I'd actually prefer it if had a stronger rose flavor but it's still good. There is an everyday menu as well as rotating flavors for each month. I thought all their flavors were really creative and fun. The website lists everything for the whole year so you can get an idea of what is to come and plan for a special event months in advance. This is a good place for commuters from Marin to come and get a donut and coffee while admiring the bridge view for 5-10 minutes then drive to work and get downtown by 9am. read more

I've never been a fan of American donuts since I usually find them too sweet and dense, but Dynamo Donuts has convinced me otherwise with their innovative flavors and light and fluffy texture. Mind blown! Can't attest to the coffee, but I can say the three donut flavors we had were amazing! Each flavor so distinctive and heavenly. They have seasonal flavors that change monthly and classic flavors like their maple bacon apple donut. I was pleasantly surprised when I bit into the maple bacon apple donut to taste bacon bits inside the batter as well! This particular Dynamo Donut is located in Crissy Field with plenty of lawn seating and a great view of the Bay and Golden Gate Bridge. Look for the little hut with the yellow flag. And to my surprise they offered a couple of gluten free donut options. I went with the cinnamon sugar donut and was very impressed. Gluten-free dough is often dry and dense. This donut was super moist and I had a hard time even believing it was gluten-free. I ended up eating the Strawberry Filled: Vanilla base filled with our seasonal homemade strawberry jam. It was light, fluffy and not too sweet. All the things I look for in a donut. Later on, I had a Passion Fruit Milk Chocolate: Vanilla bean base glazed with tangy passion fruit and milk chocolate. I'm not a huge chocolate fan, but it was subtle here. I liked the passion fruit, but wasn't really sure about the combo of fruit and chocolate. It ended up being okay. I did like the slight tartness from the fruit. A really convenient small little hut coffee shop if you're ever in the Chrissy Beach area! I saw some good reviews recommending this spot when I was hanging on the beach and have been craving some donuts for quite a while so I was super excited to give this place a try, especially since they have some really unique flavors. Each donut is around ~$3.25 more or less. I ordered the vanilla bean donut and the passionfruit milk chocolate donut. Each donut was *really* tiny, so that was a bit disappointing. Also they did not seem very fresh. The texture just wasn't my favorite, it didn't have the light fluffiness I usually expect. The passionfruit milk chocolate was the better donut of the two, but didn't quite taste like passionfruit. But I did like the milk chocolate chunks on it, they melted beautifully!
