THE ORIGINAL BBQ CHICKEN PIZZA
Breaynn T.

I haven't had this place in years, so when it was suggested for lunch I was super excited to come back! We came in right at opening time and was seated right away. We had to park far, but Perkins Rowe is always a pretty view. They had a girls night celebration the night before so it was decorated really pink and cute! Our hostess and staff in the front were very nice. Our server was Ashely. She seemed like she did not want to be at work today. Our experience was not necessarily bad, but felt delayed. We only had an hour for our lunch break and everything seemed to be in slow motion. She had a booth behind us and a booth in front of us. She would attend to tables in front and behind us and never looked our way. She walked by us twice to the table behind us and didn't even look our way while I waited for the ranch I asked for. No refills no check ins. Thankfully we didn't need much. Not until we needed the ticket and boxes. The kitchen is very open, therefore we could see directly in there and see her walking around and ignoring our eyes. After 10 minutes of waiting on our tickets and boxes, she brought our boxes then 5 minutes later finally our tickets. I ordered a large pizza and asked for a ranch. On the ticket I see that I have to pay $1 for the smallest ranch. I think it's crazy that ranch is not a given with a large establishment like California pizza. I got the BBQ chicken pizza. My friends got the Avocado egg rolls appetizer and Avocado Club pizza. The food was all very good, but not sure if we would be returning.

I came here during Veterans Day. I was thinking this place was going to be packed, but it wasn't. The service was great, sat us quick and after getting the food order the food was served quite quickly. The ambiance was nice and very open space and outside lighting. We also got checked on every so often and that was nice of the manager and our waiter. Sad that there is none of these in New Orleans.

I haven't been here since 2019. With that being said I figured my friend and I could take our kids there for a last minute dinner option. Our service was terrible though. Our server wasn't rude or anything but he took forever on the drinks and the food and he had to come back and ask more questions because he forgot to ask them originally when taking the order. The food was okay. Not bad not great. We got an appetizer of dumplings. My daughter loved it so much she wanted it for her meal. Then I got this taco pizza no beans add chicken. To me this place is higher on the price end for pizza and I just don't see the worth due to other places being cheaper and better flavor. By the end of the meal we were the second to last people there and we felt very rushed to leave or we would've ordered dessert. Would I come back? No.

Garlic chicken with Cauliflower crust! So good!

My daughter and I have been attending California Pizza Kitchen for several years. Her favorite of all time is their macaroni and cheese. Their mac & cheese is number one on her list. We do find the wait time for food. It generally depends on how busy they are. It's okay. We do find that when we get served at the bar. It's much quicker. The bartender is polite and more attentive to our needs. I enjoy their salads. Any of their salads are so good, and they are big enough that you could take some home. They do have a lot of varieties of food to choose from. Overall, their pizza is very good, and I enjoy the option of having a cauliflower crust. I recommend everyone go to California Pizza Kitchen. If you need a quick bite to eat or just to gather a chat and relax in a casual environment, this is the place to be. We will definitely be coming back.

Located in the beautiful ambiance of Perkins Rowe, this place had so much potential--but the experience was completely ruined by the manager. She was unbelievably rude and mean! We honestly felt so bad for the employees who have to work under her. She yelled at the waiter who served us and told him to not even sell alcohol anymore to anybody... we were there well before closing. I simply asked for a Ranch Water or a vodka soda with lime, and she passive-aggressively told me that the drink wasn't on their menu. Mind you, this is a restaurant with a bar... ... ... ... So, I tried again and asked for a dirty martini--nope, not happenin!! At this point, I just broke it all the way down: Can I please just have some Tito's over ice with a lime wedge? Thanks... Food is decent. I would never come back unless a friend was craving it for some odd reason.

Stopped by for a quick bite before our movie. The pizza was okay. It was extremely greasy. Probably won't be coming back soon ‍

Hawaiian Pizza (without pineapple because they were out)
Christie D.

CPK has the best hawaiian pizza in my opinion since they use fresh pineapple, applewood smoked ham, and top it with silvered scallions. However, during this visit they were out of pineapple. I was told this once my hawaiian pizza was brought to my table. The pizza was still good but I wish my waitress would have said something beforehand so I could have ordered a different pizza. I was also surprised that they still charged the $17.99 for the pizza even though it was missing a topping. I also ordered a cup of the tomato basil bisque during this visit and really enjoyed it. It was smooth and tasted great. They did forget to top it with croutons though. Service was fast and our waitress was very nice. This restaurant has plenty of tables inside as well as a nice outdoor area to dine in.

Butter Cake

After long weeks, my girls & I love to relax at what we call "CPK". I was introduced to the butter cake by a dear friend & ever since it has become my friend groups monthly tradition. We of course have to get the ice cream on the side. But seriously y'all... if you have never tried the butter cake PLEASE DO! We all enjoy a good butter cake after hard days, heartbreaks, or if we just need time to decompress. Sometimes we spice it up and get a BBQ pizza for the table or maybe a couple drinks. Most of the time though, we go for the underrated delicacy-- The Butter Cake.

Sausage and pepperoni personal pizza with a side salad. They have a lot of choices to pick from!

First time trying this and I loved it! The dough tasted homemade and it was hot and firm (not floppy). Not greasy either. Definitely will be going back! I got the lunch special with a Caesar salad. Very satisfied with it. The employees were extremely nice and super friendly too.

But after looking around for a moment, she found a more descriptive menu. I suppose if you're a regular, that's not an issue. For a first timer, it's weird. I came here with high hopes for an Italian hoagie ("The Italian"). A good Italian hoagie is hard to find in the heart of po-boy country. The meat and cheese on this version is good, but the sandwich is kind of small and a bit dry. The menu says it includes roasted red peppers, but that was missing from my sandwich. It does appear they have a nice variety of bagels. Overall not bad, but I'm still in search of a good Italian hoagie.

I was craving a sanwhich, so I got the half Caprese sandwich with a side of fruit. You order at the counter, and if part of your meal can be made right there, then it is. The fruit could be made right there, so they gave me the fruit cup and then gave me a number for my sandwich. It took a minute for the sandwich to come out, but they have free bread slices by the fountain machine that I got while I waited. When my sandwich came out, I devoured it. It was so good and hot...just how I like it. There is no Coke products here, only Pepsi, so beware of that. When you are done, you just leave the tray/plate and they come get it. There is tons of seating in here too.

That's where the surprise came from - it is really, really good! The baguette was toasted to perfection and balanced the amount of cheese very well. The pasta was refreshing and also surprisingly good. I thought it would be a very "tomatoey" salad, but it wasn't. All flavors are well balanced, mostly. Personally, I'm not a fan of green onions, so to me this pasta was a little heavy on those, but easy enough to pick them out. The Turkey Bistro also very delicious! The sun dried tomato mayo goes so well with the turkey. The toasted bread is a little hard so be cautious of that if it can be an issue. Tomato basil soup was very good, a little too chunky for my taste but still taste good. Loved the free dipping bread for soaking up all the delicious soups and sauces. Extremely friendly and helpful staff! I loved the quaint cafe vibes. The bathroom was very clean and easy access. Lots of parking as it's next to Barnes and Nobles. 5/5 Will return soon!

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with stellar customer service that set the tone for our entire experience. Our waiter, Justice, was truly delightful. It was an absolute pleasure being served by him. He was incredibly friendly, patient and attentive, especially with our party of 14, which included children. His attention to detail and welcoming demeanor stood out, and his positive energy elevated our experience. Justice went above and beyond, and his efforts did not go unnoticed! The entire staff working on Saturday, April 4 was top notch. Everyone we encountered was warm, helpful and professional. From the food and drinks to the atmosphere and overall service, everything exceeded our expectations. I can say this was a 5 Star Brunch experience. I will definitely be returning the next time I'm in Louisiana!

We specifically found this restaurant because we searched online for gluten free restaurants, so we were excited to see that you offered a separate gluten free menu. However, there are some serious issues with the accuracy of that menu that need to be addressed. When we asked about the pork rinds brought to the table, we were told they are fried in the same oil as everything else. That in itself is your choice as a restaurant, and we understand cross contamination can happen. We were also told the french fries are cooked in beef tallow in a separate fryer, but they are not considered gluten free, which is why they are not listed on the gluten free menu. Again, that is completely understandable. What is not acceptable is having items listed on the gluten free menu that are not actually gluten free due to cross contamination. The pork rinds and cheddar filled tater tots were both listed on the gluten free menu despite being fried in shared oil with gluten containing foods. For someone with celiac disease, this is not a small mistake or a dietary preference issue. My husband has celiac disease, and if he had eaten the pork rinds based on trusting the gluten free menu, he could have become extremely ill and potentially needed hospital care. Our daughter has gluten sensitivity, and she would have been sick for the rest of the night as well. Many people still treat gluten free as if it is just a fad diet, but for people with celiac disease, it is a serious autoimmune condition that causes real physical harm. To the OWNER: please educate your staff and kitchen on what gluten free truly means, and update the menu so customers can trust it. People with celiac disease should not have to risk getting sick because menu items are mislabeled.
