Disappointing Chicken Piccata -- Especially at This Price I ordered through DoorDash and got the chicken piccata, broccolini, wedge salad, and butter cake. I want to start by saying that everything else I ordered was good. Unfortunately, the chicken piccata was extremely disappointing. The chicken piccata came with two pieces of chicken. One piece was cooked to my expectation and was fine. Unfortunately, the other was a completely different story. It was so tough that I could barely even get my fork through it. I bit into it and immediately spit it out because the texture and appearance made me concerned that it was undercooked. It was awful, and I could not continue eating it. I'm currently pregnant and due to give birth any day now, so encountering potentially undercooked chicken is especially concerning. Eating undercooked chicken during pregnancy can pose serious food-safety risks to both mother and baby, so this is not something I can simply overlook. The noodles were also very under-dressed. Nearly half of the portion was essentially plain noodles with almost no sauce or flavor, which made the dish feel poorly executed overall. After eating the entrée, I also experienced significant stomach problems after which although I'm pregnant was out of the norm for me. I can't say for certain that the chicken caused it, but given that I had just encountered potentially undercooked chicken, it was understandably concerning and made the experience even more unpleasant. The broccolini, wedge salad, and butter cake were all good, so this review is specifically about the chicken piccata. Unfortunately, the main entrée was the most substantial part of the meal, and it was also expensive. At that price point, I expect much better--especially when it comes to something as basic and important as properly cooking chicken. My family went to California Pizza Kitchen in Kailua for dinner at approximately 6:00 p.m. on July 12. Unfortunately, my wife and daughter had forgotten their phones and needed to let me know they were already at the restaurant. My wife asked the hostess whether she could use the restaurant phone, and the hostess gave her permission. The hostess was unsure how to dial out, so she called the manager over for assistance. While waiting, my wife asked whether she could try using the phone herself. The manager, who identified himself as Stephen, approached her aggressively and said, "I saw you touching our phone," before using his arm to physically move her away from it. He then demanded to know why she was touching the phone. My wife explained that the hostess had given her permission, but he responded in an angry and confrontational tone, telling her not to speak to the hostess and to speak only to him. This behavior was completely unacceptable. Regardless of any misunderstanding, there was no justification for a manager to speak to my wife so aggressively or to make physical contact with her. A calm explanation would have resolved the situation immediately. Our family has been dining at the Kailua CPK for approximately 20 years, but after this experience, we will not be returning. I also intend to share this experience with friends and family. I strongly urge CPK management to investigate this incident, review any available security footage, and address the manager's conduct. read more

CPK is always a favorite. First time coming to this location and it was delicious. Got a pep+mushroom pizza with cauliflower crust and it was nice and crispy. Hardly order from here and when I do it's a mess...didn't complain last time but order not completed like last... placed at 322pm promised to be ready 353pm...arrived for pick up at 407pm and now it's 420pm and still waiting!!! Quality service. Dined in a few weeks ago and our server Edward was extremely nice, helpful, well presented and very friendly. Guest service from him represented the CPK brand. As I was hesitant to dine in here because of previous experiences with servers being moody and rude. However, the service he provided was well received. There was only 2 servers working that day and each of them had about 5-6 tables and Edward also had a table of 16 but he was still able to manage and equally tended to all tables. Nonetheless he and the bartender, not sure of the name was also running dishes, doing take out services, hosting, etc. (very well rounded and knowledgeable) but i give the both of them props for their work ethics, really wish i knew the bartenders name to give him his flowers as well. I would highly recommend him to be a representation of what the brand of cpk stands for. Hearing his story of working another full time job at a hotel as a manager and still managing to provide a great experience at this role. 100% hard worker!!! read more

It's been awhile since we went here , and man has it gone downhill ! Place was barely filled yet service was so slow . We had to ask for everything. Took an hour to get food . Didn't clear dirty dishes, i finally moved it to one of the empty tables . Took another forever to get the bill! Sunday - 11/02/2025 - we came here for lunch and Pi and Caroline are the only two working the floor. There is another guy bussing tables and a couple guys in the back making the food but ALL of them are doing their best to provide service to each and every one of their customers. We give them a tremendous amount of credit for working their okoles off and doing their best on a very busy day. People on other tables were asking their questions on the menu and neither Pi nor Caroline showed the amount of stress that I am sure was just under their skins. I have dined at all 3 Hawaii locations - Ala Moana, Pearlridge and Kailua. So, this review is for the Kailua location. Great take out parking spot. They have a new menu with new food options (Oct 2025). Opted to try the dumpling Chinese salad which is just Asian veggies, romaine, nothing other than sliced cucumbers, cilantro and chili spice. You can opt for protein, so I chose crispy chicken which was just like chicken nuggets . The salad for a mini was so little I had to look twice in the container! For what I paid ~ truly not work a 21.00 meal! So dissapointed! I do enjoy the Thai salad and the sandwiches. Generally don't at pizza here. Take out service was ok today and it's a clean place to dine in. Probably won't be getting that dumpling Chinese salad again ~ it's not worth it. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch. This CPK location is a tad smaller than most. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit outside since it was a nice day and preferred it to be a little quieter (inside was a bit louder). The bbq chicken pizza is always my go to dish. My partner and I did a family style to get a little of everything- pizza, pasta, salad. The Italian chopped salad is my mom's favorite, simple but flavorful.The spaghetti bolognese was good and not drenched in sauce. Our waiter was nice and attentive. He brought drinks immediately after seating us, then followed with the bread. Our order came out correct and he made sure we had everything we needed. Picked up UberEats here several times, and would never patron here. All the orders are "done in 10 minutes" even though I'd been there half an hour already. Employees have a dazed, apathetic look about them. None seem happy to be here or like they even WANT to show up to work. I am very impressed with server Cameryn! There were only 2 servers. She cleaned the tables, seated customers, filled the ice machine, took orders, and processed the tab. All the while immediately took care of all 3 of our requests. Cameryn gave us 5 star service. I reduced by 1 star because of The Works pizza with cauliflower crust. It could have used more sauce. I recall having more in previous visits but maybe cut backs had to be made with rising costs of doing business. We had all the Parmesan cheese we wanted, but we could tell the pizza was cold because none of it melted. It was in fact cold. Bummer. But the crust and toppings were yummy. The pasta bolognese with mushrooms added also didn't have enough sauce so we asked for more which came in a separate bowl with the perfect amount! Yummy! Same thing... Our greeter was nice and took us to our table but our waitress was really sassy. No smile and she looked like she didn't want to be there and we were bothering her. Our table was dirty like they didn't clean it so I asked for a rag to clean my table myself. Instead of cleaning my table for me I was handed a rag. Cpk gave me a birthday reward entree up to $20 but I couldn't figure out how to order it on the app. I emailed customer service for help on how to redeem it online. Although an automated customer service acknowledged my email, seven days went by and no response. My reward expired tomorrow so I went to the restaurant. Employee, Day, helped me to redeem my birthday reward. She was able to see if my reward was available on her computer. It was and I placed my reward, paying the remainder beyond the $20. Day informed me that I could place an online order, select to pay in store, and they will honor my reward at the time of pickup. She was very helpful. My food was ready hot in about 15 minutes. There is a chair at the takeout area to wait. It was nice and relaxing inside the restaurant. The chicken was moist and delicious! However, the piccata taste was not there. There were only three very thin slices of lemon, a few capers and hardly any piccata sauce or taste. I would not haven guessed it was piccata sauce. CPK has always been a favorite for our 'ohana, ever since my kids were little!! Sad to say that tonight is the last time we will ever eat there!! The portion sizes continue to go down as the prices go up. Inflation is to be expected, but judge for yourself on the size of this salad for $65 plus tax. We came into California Pizza Kitchen at 9:30 PM with our family, hoping to have a relaxing dinner. Instead, we were met with complete disrespect. One of the cooks, Jordan, loudly said -- within earshot -- that he "wasn't making any more pizza." The tone and attitude were nasty, and there was no attempt to be discreet or professional. It was incredibly awkward and uncomfortable. There was no greeting, no courtesy, and certainly no sense of hospitality. We felt completely unwelcome, so we left. When a restaurant is still open, customers should be treated with respect -- not made to feel like a burden. Based on this experience, we won't be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone who expects even basic customer service. read more

It pains me to write this because I actually like coming to this location. I brought my parents for lunch on this visit. It was not very busy, service was a little slow. The food was good but the complimentary bread was really tough and dry....almost like day old. No amount of oil and balsamic could soften that bread. We liked the salad and the pizza had a spicy kick, but there just seemed to be something missing in the atmosphere. Maybe it was an off day, perhaps they are having trouble finding workers who care, IDK. I don't relish giving a poor review (unless really justified), but I just finished a fairly lackluster dinner at this CPK location. I've been here dozens of times in the past, although I must admit, it's been several years since my last visit here. I've been to the CPK in Vegas several times and it's always been pretty good. Maybe it was just tonight, or the staff had an "off" night, but things were definitely under par, although looking back at my previous review, things had been slipping even before Covid. Since it was just myself (as usual), I took a seat at the bar, and I was surprised that a server brought the customary bread and oil right away. She asked if I'd like to order, but I hadn't been given a menu yet, so she provided one and said she'd be back. After more than ten minutes, I was actually ready to walk out and just leave a couple of bucks but she came back just as I was standing up, so I placed my order. Just a small, simple dinner of Mexican corn and the Italian chop salad, since I've had these many times before. Both dishes were not what I had been served in the past. The corn was overcooked and almost "mushy". The chop salad, which is one of their signature staples, was fairly bland and had very little texture. The salad greens were not crisp and it was just pretty sad. I am not one to return food (I've only done it twice in my life) and although the server asked if I'd like something else, I declined. I'm thinking now that maybe I should've said something so that they'd (hopefully) improve, but I just decided to let it go. I still like the overall food at CPK, I just think that I will not be coming to this location again anytime soon (unless I see their reviews really jump). read more

No cheesy puns cause when you're at CPK it's already a slice day! A girls night dinner with Nadine C after each of our own full day we both was so just excited and ready to wind down for a fun and relaxing night which made it cool since she had a gift card and with a promotion CPK had it was a double dinner deal woah! Walking in before the dinner rush was a smart idea as we got the seat of our choice with great lighting and plenty of room to take all the pictures we want. We started with the Spinach and Artichoke appetizer which came out pipping hot along with housemate blue and white corn tortilla chips oh yuuuuummy! Nice and thick the tortilla held it's own as we dug in one scoop after another. We decided then to share a pizza and salad...really wanted something that exudes brightness CPK dishes usually explodes with and it was the "California Club" pizza...it had bacon...sold! Well it didn't stop there loaded on our thin crust are applewood smoked bacon, grilled chicken, mozzarella which then gets it's time in the oven then is topped with fresh sliced tomatoes, avocado, arugula tossed in lemon-pepper mayo with freshly grated parmesan done table side this was just something to behold. The Original BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad was the other to balance it out and the bowl of beautiful freshness got me swaying happily seriously making it hard to move on to another item with this yumminess as it all just worked perfectly complimenting it all in one cohesive bite. All excited and chatty like as if we never gathered forever lol there's nothing more I love than to see a friend smile which wasn't the case tonight it was more like stunned o_O! Already having a great productive day we were excited to reveal what our "Thank you" card promotion from CPK which could be as much as $50,000 and we talked what we'd do with that was a hopeful dream to be revealed only by a manager, both our card is a 10% discount a blessing regardless in addition to the gift card.
