I'm surprised that Papa John's doesn't have better checks and balances to protect its brand, because this location is a disaster when it comes to customer service. I placed an order and watched the tracker, only to see it suddenly switch to a third-party (DoorDash). After tracking it there for 30 minutes, the order was marked as returned to the store--then cancelled altogether on the original tracker. When I tried calling, no one answered, and by the time I could have gone in person, the store was already closed. It's now been three days and I still haven't received a refund. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. Save yourself the headache and head to Domino's down the street instead. read more

This place is THE worst customer service ever. We ordered takeout on the website, we set a pickup time and the website disregarded our time and set it for a much earlier time. I attempted to call the store line and option that "transfers you to a manager" waited on the call for 5 mins then got disconnected, I called two more times and no answer again. I even called the call center who was not transferred me to Kailua's location as they couldn't change the time on their end... idk what is so hard with answering the phone but this is terrible service and I hope someone fixes this. We have done takeout a few times with them and gotten good results. Don't pay attention to the ready time in the app. Just order it for now and go pick it up in about 20 mins. That usually gets you a hot and delicious pizza. If you try to set a later time for pickup, they make it early and it will be cold. Hot and fresh they do beat the competition. read more

Experience picking up the pizza was not the greatest.. I ordered 1 large pepperoni pizza (total was $27.63) and handed over a $50 bill. Please note, there was a sign on the register that stated "we do not accept bills larger than $50." The worker asks me if i have any smaller bills and said "no...?" I went back to my car to find EXACT cash change. Came back to go pay, another worker assisted and tells me "Oh sorry today we have special deals on the pizza. Your total will be $20." Flat $20? Hm... Filed a complaint with Papa John's. Never heard back from them. Hope they care about their customer's satisfaction? Papa John's is located across American Savings Bank on Hamakua Drive. This location recently open. I became a fan of Papa John's when they opened up in Mapunapuna. Now that they have a location in Kailua where I live we decided to go. The service was very friendly. Ordered my pizza and got it in about 10 minutes. This I thought was fast since I saw only one worker. Ordered a 12 inch pepperoni, olive and mushroom pizza with light sauce. I asked if I had a choice of crust. Was told that the 12 in. came only with a garlic crust. Bottom line is it's not what I remembered. But it's nice to have another pizza option in Kailua. read more

This place was a total disaster on Halloween. I don't even know how many families did not get fed, or had to scramble to find dinner because of the utter incompetence and disorganization of this location. To make a long story short, they basically lost track of all the orders coming in and ended up refunding everyone and voiding all of the tickets because they had no idea what they were doing and were completely lost. Ordered a pizza with an online special of 2x1 for Super Bowl Sunday party. Doordash driver shows up with one. We called Papa John's and they said yes, we have a special let us direct your call to the store. After a long conversation with the mgr, he agrees the online processing messed up and was going to refund our $. BUT he couldn't figure that out! So we asked for the second pizza and we'd pick it up. He sounded upset,"Which one do you want?? The refund or the pizza??" "Well, you can't figure out the refund so the only option left is the pizza! And we'll pick it up!" Food was great, but the dipping sauces were a rip off. Ordered four of the "Doritos Cool Ranch" sauce, but they weren't in the white cartridges as displayed online, rather, they were in black ones with only a quarter filled. The only pizza place where you cannot add xtra cheese on an item ordered. In this case I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak Papadila. I ordered the extra cheese because in the past when ordering the same item, there was not enough cheese. I was told what I ordered comes with 3 toppings and The system did not allow for adding the extra topping. This is a first for any pizza establishment I have ever ordered at. The inability for their system to add extra cheese to a specific menu item. I think Papa John's should fix the obvious glitch in their system. I bet the people that live in Kailua is happy to have papa's John back. I remember they had store by the Safeway store where pandas and Verizon is. We ordered pizza for dinner and was good. Do not order from this location Ordered a shack, a Roni pizza and found that they charged me 33 .49 spoke to the manager, and and she said the price is for online orders only and that there is no way to honor the 17.99 price The pizza also did not have any pepperoni on it. This location says they have a 25% senior discount when ordering thru the phone but when arriving they say you need some papa John's card (nifty fifty) which was a promotion that isn't offered anymore. This was our second time ordering Papa John's and it was mostly disappointing. The pizza was ready when they said it would be and the crust was tasty and chewy, the way we like it. The toppings, sauce and cheese were; however, flavorless and difficult to find. read more

Arrived at Papa John's Pizza in Kailua around 8pm tonight and was pleasantly greeted by Jawna Lyn. Our order was quick, under 15 minutes and what I really liked about her service was that she knew I would need extra marinara sauce with me saying so. She also added extra Garlic sauce.
