First time trying CPK. Honestly thought it was very average. They start you off with some bread paired with olive oil which was delicious and probably better than the pizza. I ordered the tostada pizza and asked if they could add corn on it. Unfortunately I only got about 2 pieces of corn on my pizza and very little beans. I felt like I was just eating bread. It's paired with a flame roasted salsa which tastes okay. I tried my friends Fresh cilantro and tangy crema sauce which comes with the spicy chipotle chicken pizza and thought it was delicious so I definitely recommend asking for this sauce inside instead! I needed to update my review for this location. The food is still pretty good. I had the BLT club pizza, Avocado egg rolls, and chicken dumplings. The dumplings were the only food that were sub par, very slimy texture. The server we had was not kind and barely spoke the entire meal. I get that it's COVID times, and they're trying to keep patrons in the restaurant. I also know that restaurants are working hard to keep their doors open and employees are burnout, which why I kept my rating a 3. However, at the end of my meal I noticed rat traps underneath the booths. I really think this particular location has some things to work out before I will be back. read more

Growing up this has been my favorite place at Tyson's corner mall. It makes me happy that a part of my childhood is still instilled at this location. I went to college at VCU, Richmond and had the opportunity to be a part of the Richmond CPK team. I wanted to revisit the Tyson's location but finally came to craving pizza. I recently dined in and had the Thai chicken Pizza and half Chipotle chicken pizza. Definitely worth the price point because it's for sure a specialty pizza. The quality of ingredients were fresh, especially the lime crema dressing.The mocktails are very refreshing, even on the cold winter months! My friend had the strawberry mango cooler and I had the Golden state lemonade. Both were paired well to compliment the spices of our pizza. The Tyson's location is much more modern compared to the location I had worked at many years ago. The staff was extremely friendly. The hostess, Esaita walked us to our table and had the brightest smile and navigated us through the menus. Our server, ET was thorough and polite. She was busy but had great attention to detail and was punctual to bringing the drinks, appetizers, bread, and meals! The managers on duty were Carlos and Os and both checked to see if my friend and I were having a lovely experience. I was extremely happy to see the key lime pie is still on the menu. By far the best key lime pie you'll find. The tartness and texture is the best way to close a meal. They offer a rewards program, too! A pizza place with non traditional eclectic flavors was difficult to find until I visited CPK. Not a huge fan of pizzas these days but happened to come here for an office lunch. They have a fancy decor and loved their wide range of pizzas that come in different types of crusts. I tried few vegetarian pizzas and they all were very different. My favorite from this visit is definitely the Wild Mushroom Cauliflower Crust Pizza. Having never tried cauliflower crust before, I was skeptical about it but now this is my favorite crust. It almost feels like the pizza is crustless still providing the pizza slices a firm texture which doesn't sag like the regular crust pizzas and it doesnt change the taste of the pizza much. The second favorite has to be Tostada Thin Crust Pizza which comes with the salsa sauce and this is the only place where I have had tortilla strips on a pizza and still not be disappointed with it! I tried the Slicy Chipotle Chicken pizza without chicken though and this is good if you like beans and corns on your pizza. I am definitely coming here again with Wily to try other pizzas. Had to cancel the order because none of the pizza cooks wore gloves, were touching everything, and used their hands to roll dough and grab toppings. Watching them make pizza and the dough touching their bare arm totally turned us off to the food. Some also wore their masks either under their chin or under their nose. Sad . read more

My dining partner has this thing where if she's doing taxes - or any other kind of laborious paperwork - she wants to go to CPK to do the work. Why? The food and service is excellent. She can usually request a booth and spread her laptop and paperwork out. And the people there are actually friendly. She does order a lot of food while she's there - some to take home - so she's not clogging up a table for nothing. If I get off work in time I'll meet her there and we'll do dinner. She brings home those "cook at home" pizzas too. But the best part for her is the free refills tea. She sips that stuff the entire time. Somehow CPK makes doing drudgery manageable for her. So we are doubly sad now that she can't dine-in during this coronavirus time. However we do want to thank CPK for being such a terrific establishment. We'll continue to order out and look forward to being able to dine-in again one day! read more

They lack consistency. We can I say, I love the jambalaya pasta (not available at all locations) ,the bread and pizza selections but that about it. Other than that it's pretty basic. I get my food to go mostly because the layout, staff and overall feel is not giving for the price you pay, I suggest they focus on the to go aspect. read more

I've tried many a CPK in many a state and I'm afraid this one was my least favorite. We were grabbing some lunch before a movie and stopped in for a bite among the many eating options at Tysons Corner. I ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon. I substituted the white corn & spinach succotash topped with feta with green vegetables. I asked the server to give me any green vegetable as a side and she said she will make sure to do that. I got broccolini and asparagus. That looked perfect when it arrived but had zero taste. Sometimes I'm glad that restaurants only steam the veggies without adding cheese or butter but this really was tasteless. As soon as the salmon arrived, I could see that it was cooked a bit too long. It had charring marks all around. It was borderline on the dry side. Hubby ordered the roasted garlic chicken pizza on cauliflower crust. I really should have gotten his dish. It was great. I've been making cauliflower crust at home and I am really impressed with the crust here. It tasted and looked like bread. The crust was thin and stayed in tact unlike a homemade crust. We asked the server to verify that this truly was cauliflower crust!!! Server was knowledgeable and extremely friendly. She recognized immediately that someone brought the wrong drink to our table. My first time at California pizza kitchen. My friend suggested the buffalo cauliflower so I ordered it. The cauliflower was amazing. The buffalo breading was done really well and the cauliflower was really crispy. If you are vegan this is a really good alternative to your traditional wings. The Mac and cheese bites were really nice too. They were fried and really crispy with a gooey and cheesy inside. For my entree I shared the spicy Milano pizza. It was thin crust so the pizza was very crispy. There were a lot of toppings on it (onions, pepperoni, jalapeños, sausage) and it was definitely on the spicer side. The customer service was good too. I initially ordered the chipotle chicken pizza and they placed my order but a few minutes later one of there managers came over and quickly told me they ran out. I came to CPK, as I regularly do, for lunch with my mom(my birthday lunch) and was warmly greeted and sat by Rita. She was the best part(besides the food) about my visit. Unfortunately our waiter Thomas really put a damper on our experience. From the moment my mom and I sat down, he approached the table with an attitude for whatever reason and I just ignored it and remained pleasant because it seemed like he was preoccupied. However, his annoyance and rudeness intensified as were seated and he even had rude body language that honestly took me and my mom by surprise to the point that my mom asked him whether he was the only one working. He rudely told my mom off when she asked to order more ice cream and said "I came to you twice and now I'm going to greet other people okay". I found that to be absurd. Like I mentioned before, we came there for my birthday lunch so it was just really off putting that he behaved that way. He didn't even thank us for coming, or just anything polite. I come to CPK a lot, and I have never had an experience like this. I understand people have bad days however I don't think its ever appropriate to take it out on a customer especially when we did not do anything. Just wanted to share my experience and also shout out Rita again for being so pleasant. I normally would give a 5 star review because I frequent Cpk but I haven't been back since this visit. Came here with a friend to catch up recently, and the experience was extremely pleasant. Ryan was a fantastic server, and we arrived there fairly late, but he took great care of us. He was very patient with us, and didn't rush us out even as the mall was closing late. I had the BBQ chicken pizza and it was absolutely delicious. My friend was also lactose intolerant which made her nervous about ordering, but Ryan was very quick and ready to suggest cheese-/dairy-free options, and she was able to enjoy her pizza, as well. He provide to go cups for our waters as we were preparing to leave, and he was always checking on us constantly to make sure that we were okay and check if we needed anything else. Overall a great experience. I highly recommend coming here, especially if he is working. read more

I've never been to CPK and not had pizza, until today! I made plans to meet a Virginia friend here for lunch after I discovered they changed up their menu and now have ... Baja fish tacos! I know, I am turning into a fish taco freak (see my list), but I can't help myself!! I have been dreaming about these tacos since Tuesday. Were they worth it? Let's see... Yes!!!!!!!!! They were awesome! They were totally worth crossing the river for, albeit a tad expensive ($10.99) for just two tacos and a small side of chips and salsa. Farmers & Fishers' are the same price and you get one more. I paid $1.00 more for avocado slices which I think totally make the taco - F&F don't have avocado on theirs. My friend had the tortilla soup and grilled vegetable sandwich on focaccia bread. It was huge and it was only $9.99. It was also very tasty. I'd be tempted to get that next time, but with fish tacos on the menu... Here's a tip: Use their Call Ahead Seating. I called while waiting for my friend to arrive and when we walked up at 12:45 there was a huge wait. Guess what? We got seated right away! Overpriced, mediocre food. $7.50 for a mango mango mojito that was tasty. Too tasty. Where's the liquor in my mojito? Def not what I paid for, I didn't feel a thing... not even a little bit of heat. $13.49 for a Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Pizza. Being one of the featured pizza items on their menu, I expected it to wow me.... on the contrary, it was a sad sad pancake with toppings on a plate. This was a regular crust pizza, not a thin crust pizza. I was expecting some fresh tasting pizza dough, seeing as their oven is huge and spits out flames of bright orange fire. However, what I got was a bland-looking and boring piece of dough that tasted generic. With the toppings, it looked good... but on closer examination, there wasn't much to the toppings. They used fresh pineapple to their credit. But the pineapple and chicken were sparse. Onions were used to fill the huge empty gaps between the few chunks of chicken and pineapple. Overall a very generic pizza that was more like artwork in its clever arrangement of toppings than a satisfying food. $12-13 for a Baby Clam Linguine that I think I appreciated more than the pizza. Of the white or red sauce, we chose white. There were ample amounts of baby clams spread throughout the pasta (beware the chunks of sand/shell that may be in the clams... I bit on quite a few to my painful discovery). I appreciated that it wasn't drowned in sauce. There was a slightly smokey flavor to it that I liked. In all, good flavor to the pasta... much better than the pizza... Not a good sign for a place called California PIZZA Kitchen. On a high note, our server was really nice. Our group of 10 tipped him extra cause we liked him and he didn't even give a hint of a complaint when we asked him to split our checks. Great guy and great service all around! read more

We had not been to a CPK in over 10 years. Let that sink in for a minute. The upshot? Man, what have we been missing out on!? This was our second weekend trip out to Tyson's Corner (to see Black Panther on IMAX 3D). This second occasion, we decided to come mid day...so we could check out the mall. Don't judge! We are not really what you'd call mall people by nature. As much as I like AMC, we didn't want to do dinner there. With that in mind, we also did not want to do food court (hey, Cholesterol is thing). So...what to do? California Pizza Kitchen to the rescue! OK, I'm going to be honest with you. I only really thought about going there because I vaguely remembered that I liked their BBQ chicken pizza. When we got inside, we were promptly greeted by a member of their staff and seated at a table by the window. Were the booth seats maybe a little deep (which made the table surface seem just a little high)? Hmm...maybe, but not a big deal. When our waiter came over and brought us menus, I actually decided to read it. Starting from the front. What I noticed was that the menu did not start off with pizzas. OK, "no duh, Jason - hello, appetizers?" Still, I noticed that (be it a combination of age or curiosity...) I continued to read, and noticed that my interest did not veer towards pizza. The first thing we did was to try one of their beverages, a Cucumber Reviver. "Freshly pureed pineapple & cucumber with Monin Cucumber, fresh torn mint and agave sour, then topped with club soda." Ahem, that is what the menu said. But guess what? It was delicious!! It was light, refreshing, and a decidedly "adult" flavor profile that had no need of alcohol to push its maturity. Strong mid-field hit and batter on second. We then turned to ordering mains. I opted for the 12 oz steak with fingerling potatoes and an arugula salad with a light citrus vinaigrette. I asked for medium doneness. What did I receive? A nicely charred steak, well-seasoned, true medium doneness and a fresh salad that matched well to the steak. The entire dish was well composed, portioned sanely, and all the elements felt decidedly purposeful. Grounder to second base. No outs. My wife ordered the Wild Mushroom Strozzapreti, which involved "rolled pasta noodles with pan-sautéed Cremini, Portobello and seasonal mushrooms, Parmesan, fresh thyme & Italian parsley." What she received was again - a sanely portioned meal with perfectly cooked pasta, a flavorful and balanced sauce, and a profusion of mushrooms that were every bit as good as if you'd sourced them from your local Whole Foods. Both of us marveled at how much better the food was than what either of us expected to encounter. Line drive down the third base line. Bases loaded. As our meal was concluding, we were chatting about how positive the experience was. At about that moment, a handsome middle aged gentleman in a casually elegant tropical ensemble came over to our table. He asked us how our meal was and we positively gushed. I felt almost humbled to report how little my expectations had been and how overwhelmingly positive our experience had been. He then regaled us with a story of how the business had been working to update, modernize, and refine their menu. It was a genuinely positive and informative exchange. Deep right field ball...going, going. GRAND SLAM!!! We will completely come back to this establishment. Not only that, we will put CPK in our repertoire of places to eat. My family and I went this past Tuesday to have dinner at the CPK in Tysons Corner. This will be the very last time I go to this location. I usually go to the one in Fairfax Corner because of past bad experiences at Tysons, oops I did it again! I went there and regretted it. No hostess to greet people. We walked in (6 of us), the bartender asked us from behind the bar how many were we... She yelled to go with to the last table by the window.... There were only 3 tables including ours and there were 3 servers. Definitely not the busy time, we were there around 4pm. Our server had zero interest in working. We had to wait forever to get his attention. He got my mom's drink wrong. I asked for napkins, didn't get it, an extra bowl, didn't get it, bread, didn't get it. All separate times. I had to get up and ask another very nice lady for napkins and a bowl and she gave them to me. This guy was still somewhere in lalaland. There was a table behind us that was dirty before we got there and stayed that way with plates, cups, etc until after we left. Even my young daughter counted how many kids cups there were (big family she said)! Just horrible experience. California pizza kitchen is the kind of place I get excited about because their food is well known for its tasty factor. This location isn't any different and has super yummy food! The wait staff was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant itself is nice and comfortable inside. And again, the food is delicious, so that's a big selling point! Located in Tyson's Corner mall, parking on the weekend is always a nightmare, but once you park, the restaurant is easily accessible right on the outskirts of the mall. Not necessarily a deterrent, but something to plan for if you aren't already at the mall for something else. The main reason I'd skip coming here is the price. Each meal is around $14. If you add anything (such as the cauliflower crust to a pizza, which is delicious and crunchy!) you are looking at a $17 pizza, which is pretty hefty for a casual spot. If you're ready to spend a couple bucks extra, and you're craving pizza, this is a good place to treat yourself! read more

Great place for quick bite after you are tired from shopping. It was pretty full but we were lucky to get seated immediately. Our server was nice and friendly. She checked with us multiple times. They serve complimentary bread to start with. Buffalo cauliflower are the best, a must try. That is probably the best appetizer on thier menu. Great variety of pizza and pasta. I ordered pesto penne which was good , some more seasoning would have helped. My husband ordered salmon and he said it was great and was very happy with presentation. read more

I have been a long term patron of CPK with some standard favorites. Today was a total disaster. First I ordered my favorite lunch pick..Szechuan chicken dumplings. After submitting the. Order I was told that they were out of stock...what??? So I ordered Bolognese pasta with penne. They don't have any penne so I ordered fusili. The Bolognese was so watery it looked like tomato sauce. The manager offered me another option. I finally ordered Szechuan spaghetti. It was so spicy I couldn't eat it. I had to ask for a glass of milk to calm the heartburn. I took the pasta home and washed off all the spices. Of course I had to pay for the meal... It will be a long time until I return, if ever.. read more

I had BBQ chicken pizza at CPK (diff location) 10 years ago and it blew my mind. Tonight I ate it and I panicked and thought I had covid because I literally couldn't smell or taste it. But I'm fairly certain it's actually just because the food was that bland.... Whatever CPK has been doing to cut corners in the last decade.... It has been noticed. Nothing was technically wrong with food other than my olfactory gland not being able to perceive its existence. You may have saved $ but you lost a customer, and I used to eat here often (other dishes). Update: I ended up not having covid so it really was just your food. I'm not trying to get my money back, just letting you know so you don't lose more customers. I personally can't return to an establishment that served me food devoid of any taste. read more

I came here on a weekday for dinner and ordered the sicilian pizza. My girlfriend got the street corn and the shrimp scampi pizza, substituting the crust with cauliflower crust. The cauliflower crust surprised me as I was expecting a limp and weak crust. The cauliflower crust tastes crispier and tastier than my regular crust on my sicilian pizza, which should be on thin crust. I came here for lunch with a colleague on a weekday in November 2019. This CPK is located in Tyson's Corner Center and wasn't terribly busy when we arrived, so we were seated immediately and promptly served waters and complimentary bread with olive oil. The bread was pretty average, although I think the combination of the average bread and olive oil was inexplicably addictive. Our server offered to get us a 2nd helping of the bread and oil, but we declined. My coworker and I mostly only looked at the lunch duos, since these seemed to be the most appealing options in terms of variety, size, and price. I got the mushroom and sausage 7-inch pizza along with the Dakota smashed pea soup. There were plenty of other options if you're more into salads, sandwiches, or pastas. Both my pizza and soup were tasty, although nothing special and a bit on the salty side. The portions were more than sufficient for lunch, and a decent size-to-price ratio. Most of the options aren't super healthy, although you might be safer if you stick to the soup and salad options. The service was efficient and friendly. Even though we had our lunch to stay, I felt like we were able to get in and out pretty quickly.
