The service was wonderful--the girls working were amazing, super sweet, and made me feel completely comfortable and relaxed. They answered all of my questions with a positive attitude and helped me choose the deepest tan option they thought would work best for me. Unfortunately, I wasn't very happy with the spray tan itself. I followed all the instructions carefully and even let it sit for about nine hours to get the best possible result, but I didn't notice much of a tan and was a bit disappointed, as I expected a deeper color. The cost was $40.00 since I added in a prep spray which was recommended to reduce the orange color of the tan but in hindsight this might have affected the way my tan turned out because I didn't use this add on last time and my tan came out great. The spa is very clean, and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. I visited on a winter weekend, so that may have also played a role in the results. Overall, the staff and environment were great--I just wish the tan had developed more noticeably. read more

I have been coming here for 8 yrs as a loyal customer, I have always paid my bill even when I wouldn't come in for months I didn't freeze the account, I just continued to pay. I had some bank fraud at my last bank so I had to switch banks I had thought I transferred all accounts to my new bank but unfortunately I had forgotten this one. I came in today not aware and they told me that my account had been expired so I asked to get reinstated and explained the situation and asked why I hadn't been notified they said they had the wrong number in their system and that they couldn't go around contacting everyone. Ok fine I'm willing to pay for the months missed and can I be reinstated they told me that I now had to pay $100 vs my $70 became those were the prices now offered? Seriously I've been a customer for over 8yrs! You want to lose a customer over greed? I just can't believe it you can be a loyal customer but it doesn't mean anything to them! You're losing more money by losing a loyal customer that's been with you for 8 years! I'm beyond upset, I'm honestly not a complainer but this just feels so wrong! I love California Sun! I've been coming here for about a month now, and every visit has been wonderful. I decided to add tanning to my gym routine to remind me of my circa 2004 days. Nothing better than laying in a bed after a good workout. Taylor got me set up with the top package. I started at 5 minutes and have been working my way up, adding time and trying new beds. The employees have been giving me great recommendations with the different beds and what to try. I've only had one adverse reaction, but it was my fault for having Cetaphil lotion on from earlier in the day. When I came out of the bed and we saw that I had burned, the workers gave me some after care lotion to help it until I could get home to treat it. Thankfully the redness was gone only a few hours later and didn't hurt at all. I returned two days later just to be safe. Definitely a great place to tan. Spray tanning: Management needs to pay attention to maintenance issues at the Laguna location. Ceiling light in bathroom has been burnt out for several weeks. Even for first customer of the day, paper towel dispenser is empty and rug in spray tan room needs to be vacuumed. Barrier cream receptacle - see photos - has top ripped off for past 3 weeks and customers have been dipping their hands into the same glop of cream to smear on their bodies before tanning. I have started bringing my own barrier cream to avoid contamination with communal cream. read more

Tanning beds: go on the weekends! You get a deal to use better beds, which work a lot faster for better results. Remember to always bring your eye wear and lotion. FYI: No chairs provided... I know it sounds weird but I used to just sit on a chair and stick my legs into the bed because my main concentration are my legs. Service: The employees are always nice and never rush you. They usually have one person working at the time so be patient if there's a line, a person can only do so much. Don't get sucked into buying the products, advise you to buy somewhere cheaper and use your own products. They always provides a hand towel with a mint and card. Price: I pay about $25 a month plus the bed upgrades of $4.50(50%off on weekends)/each visit. You can cancel any time but do cancel before the beginning of the month because that's when take out the monthly fee. Overall, love this place! read more

I would give zero stars if I could. This place drastically overworks their employees to the point where customers can't receive the "excellent" service that this place preaches. Most of the employees are super sweet but there are some serious issues in this place's upper management that is causing the stores downfall. As for the products themselves, they're great. The lotions are amazing and so are the beds but they really need to work on improving how they treat their employees. read more

Horrible business practices. Was charged 60$ for a monthly membership including activation fee, fine, I'll pay it. Then my membership was canceled bc my husband paid for it and the names don't match?! Fine okay....but why was I still charged the fee??! Why would you cancel a membership but also charge the full price!? Criminal. Don't charge a customer who you cancel! Find a better tanning salon. Also I got zero color from their base beds. Actually it wasn't a "quick fix" my husband had to pack our 3 kids in the car, drive over, attempt to sign whatever form you required...which took 3 times for your employee to figure out how to do it right. We were there for TWO HOURS. Was not quick at all. Also your employee left in the middle of "helping" us and we waited 10+ minutes for someone else to help us. There was nothing quick about it. I should have been told when I signed up that the names did not match and that it was against policy. Then I should have been contacted and made aware that you canceled my membership a day later after you charged me full price. Or I should've been refunded! AUTOMATICALLY. If I could give 0 stars I would. The customer service is horrible. My daughter and I came to spray tan. WHILE I WAITED for her to get sprayed, I decided to add another service of a bed tan. I finished well before she did. To my surprise, the rude worker named Chelsie told me in laughing manner to get at the end of the line. Apparently 6 people came in for a spray tan while I was in the bed tan. I expected to be next after my daughter came out. I was not. I was told I would have to wait over an hour. I asked for clarification from the person who checked me in. She tried to explain the process, but Chelsie kept rudely interrupting her and then told me , "Well you're not ever a club member!" What does this have to do with anything? I am a paying customer who has been here multiple times. I tried to call customer service to get this resolved but no answer. Chelsie kept ranting on and said, "I'm going to call corporate." They answered her call right away, but not mine. read more

I couldn't disagree more with some of these negative reviews. I understand each person may have different experiences, but Chelsie is nothing BUT friendliness, professional and attentive. Every time I come, I am greeted with the biggest smile and a genuine caring attitude. SHE makes me glad I go there and is the reason why I don't go anywhere else. Not to mention, the spray tan I get there is GORGEOUS!!! I have had to wait briefly, but it is only because they are helping the customers already there and giving them TOP NOTCH customer service. The staff is very friendly and the place is very clean, however, it is quite a hit and miss to use the sauna (cocoon). Several times I went in (to use the sauna) and there would be 2 people ahead of me using it making it at least a 45 minute wait, which I didn't have the time to wait and I would have to walk away..... not fun. Or I would get there and the person walking right in front of me would want to use the sauna. So it's a real hit and miss. They have a lot of members and only one sauna. I also tried the red-light and broke out from the products, which apparently make it work better. I actually gave my products to the gals that work there. They put them in their break room. I freckled real bad in the tanning beds. The spray tan was nice, but as everyone knows much more of a maintenance and all this left me with the 10 minute massage chair and the wonderful infrared sauna, which was a hit and miss to get into. So I found another place with an infrared sauna where you can make an appointment and be sure of your time to use it. And I will stick to my Tan Towels, for I thought they worked better than the beds and they certainly won't age you. All and all the young girls that work there are adorable and really cute and nice, but this place just wasn't for me. My membership ends in a month. read more

I usually tan at the vintage park location and have good service. But today I was closer to this location and was helped by Alexzia. She greeted me like we were old friends ! I felt very welcomed :) and when she noticed I was eying a t shirt she helped me find a super cute one with a great fit. She made me feel totally ok with having to size up. I was very pleased with the fit and she did not seem like a salesperson at all, more like a friend! She even recommended a sandwich shop nearby because I mentioned I was on a lunch break. She was very upbeat and sweet! Location was very clean and I was able to tan within minutes of walking in. I noticed she treated every customer that came in the same way. Two stars is for cleanliness and friendliness of staff, however BEWARE what you sign up for and although I was told certain things and read the contract to what I thought carefully, there are things that are misleading. It's a 6 month minimum term and was told I only need to do it for 6 months. But now it's basically 7 months because they don't count the first time of enrollment bc it wasn't full payment for them. Nowhere does it say that, Kasey guest services at corporate informed me that it shows it by the amount of membership and when the cycle starts. That shows the amount, when we sign up, and me authorizating auto-payment starting their first billing cycle. prorate price or not, it should count as part of the 6 month minimum term. I've asked few others to read my contract and see how they take to as and for all it says 6 months, meaning 6 payments, it shouldn't matter if the first one was prorated or not. Feeling like I got ripped off I definitely don't want to utilize facility that is airtight in this type of contract. 6 months=6 payments, be it whatever payments they be bc when u sign up it's not the exact month to their billing cycle, they need to accept that it's 5 full price and 1 of whatever that prorate price is. In the end because I am in contract I asked them to adjust my prorate to a full term so I can cancel when I am due. I still don't feel it's right but I don't want to be in this transaction with them onward. If I am able to attach the contract you can view. I would like to hear if any had similar stories. Upon resolution and meeting of terms we have met mutual agreement. And I have changed my rating with reason of their efforts of having worked with me and doing so promptly But do note and ask about their cancellation policy, you have to mail or cancel in person to corporate office and within 30 days notice to not be billed as its all an open end agreement. That in which I find an inconvenience and containing sensitive information. These are my thoughts and just something I would like to make aware for future customers to note read more

The beds are wonderful, however, something has been occurring in regards to their staffing and the amount of time you have to wait for a bed. Each time I have come in, there is a line out the door even though their are plenty of clean and empty beds. Potentially they need to go back to having two staff members working at a time because this has been absolutely ridiculous. read more

This place is well kept which is important when it comes to tanning. Cleanliness is a must in a place like this. I'm very pleased with that, however the one thing that is somewhat frustrating is the cost of the elite tanning beds. They're very pricy. Yes they do offer a discount on the weekends but because the starting price is up there it still hurts the pocket book. The staff is friendly and always willing to help in making sure your tan is progressing the way you would like. So over all I will give a four star rating! read more

Horrible experience. Got a spray tan and took off my rings and forgot I set them down. Called to let them know I forgot and I would come right back for them and they said no sorry rings aren't here. I mentioned there was one girl working and was there anything else they could do. The manager told me "'ma'am this is not our fault" and that was her only help. Filed a police report and the manager told me there was no use because it wouldn't do anything because there's no cameras. Horrible customer service from corporate. Absolutely love the employees that work here! A lot of the time I see the Manager working and she always greets me with a smile and asks how my day is going and will talk to me for awhile about things going on in the salon, promotions, new deals and lotions. Horrible customer service..I purchased a blouse and when I returned home saw that the hem was fraying in two spots. I returned right away to see if I could exchange it. Because of the defect this is something that I could not fix. They told me NO! I could not exchange it. Still had the tag on it, just bought it. It did not matter they were willing to lose me as a customer than make it right. I was shocked...What business does this! I have been a good, loyal customer. Visited this location today and I'm not sure what the negative reviews were for. Julia listened to what I wanted and shared their options. No pressure whatsoever. Both Julia were friendly and helpful. It was my first spray tan and they walked me through the steps. Great service, reasonable prices and very clean facility. Stay away from these places. They are a rip off. I would not sign up to this place. They charge you hidden fees they never explained when you sign up. I used my membership for 1 month then Covid hit in March and haven't been since. They didn't even tell me they were open again which was June and they just charged my card without asking if people were comfortable or not coming back right away. I called as soon as I saw the charge and wanted to cancel which I would have gotten a full refund. The lady on the phone said we could just freeze your account for only $5 a month which was June and now July I have a charge of $15 for a maintenance fee which again was never explained nor would I have kept the membership since I'm not going due to COVID. I'm not using the service so why would you charge a fee? Explain to your customers all the fees before you say it's in your contract when you sign up. Teach your employees to explain all fees so we're not blind sided by them later. And act a little more sympathetic with everything that's going on in the world. read more

Not paying attention!! I asked for ROOM 6 for 20 minutes and she put 6 minutes instead of 20!!! I drive 15 minutes for 6 minutes and even though it's her fault, she wouldn't let me go back in for 14 minutes! All she said was "sorry". Didn't offer a FREE lotion packet or anything!! She was more talking about up selling lotion instead of paying attention to what was going on. I want just ONE time to go in and NOT try to sell me something. If you're a tanner, this is the best place in town. Believe me, I have tried a lot of them. They are very affordable and by far the cleanest. The people working there are all nice, but will often try to sell you things. The things they sell are never things I can't use though. They also have a lot of good promotions all the time. I have been a Cal Sun member for about 4 years now, and this is the salon that is closest to where I live. I used to tan in the beds all the time, but about a year and a half ago I decided to try spray tanning and I've been hooked ever since. If you want an instant tan, this is the best choice.
