In 2021, we went to see Dr Leung for a consultation. She tried to charge us $350 for photos that can be "used as credit" for future services. Our insurance actually covers photos but they said our pediatric dentist already used it - which they did not (they confirm submitting for bite wing only not the full mouth that she wanted to charge us for). To be fair this could be an insurance mistake, but they were not helpful and there are a lot of orthos that will do this FOR FREE. Our ortho monitored my kids teeth for two years before starting with no payment to lock us in or sign a contract. For free with X-rays and everything! During our follow online meeting, we discussed expanders being 3k and different options available only to be told that my daughter didn't need it (why did you bring it up?) and the cost was a lot more than my ortho that I ended up using (2k more). I felt that the conversation about expanders was to scare me into being relieved that the cost was less than anticipated. The tone was cold, pushy, and the experience was stressful. Unfortunately, I am sad to admit that I have been a long-term patient under the care of Dr. Cynthia Leung and her staff at Caliper Orthodontics for the past four (4) years and counting. Although I am not a medical professional, I personally do not believe that my teeth were all that bad to begin with; 4+ years feels extremely excessive, as I am still in the process of straightening my teeth. In the beginning, things were fine, mediocre at best. The wait times were fair (20 minutes at most) and the doctor, Cynthia Leung, would see me personally each time. After the first few months, I noticed a drastic change in the service at Caliper. The wait times would increase exponentially, as I would find myself waiting to be seated/treated for hours (yes, hours, plural). The doctor rarely treated me and when she did, the very most she do is glance at the work her assistants had done and that was it. From a business standpoint, Caliper should know better than to bite off more than they can chew, if they are not in the position to take on more patients (which they are NOT), then they shouldn't make empty promises to new patients. If I had known that the service and standard of excellence at Caliper would drop so drastically after my initial few months as a patient, I would have taken my business elsewhere. Caliper Orthodontics has been understaffed and overbooked for many years and although this offers a potential explanation for the embarrassingly poor treatment of their patients, this is an issue that is easily avoided, had they not decided to undertake so many patients with such little staff. Time is money for everyone BUT Caliper Orthodontics, if you're looking for an attentive, committed, and diligent place to get your teeth done, do yourself a favor and steer clear of Cynthia Leung and Caliper Orthodontics as a whole. She is a perfectionist and has been very helpful in helping me achieve my goal of a better smile and improved teeth alignment. It's sad to have to write a mediocre review for a medical professional. My kids have been patients of Dr. L for the past 2-3 years. The first consult meeting was great- she took time (9:30pm?) to explain to us what our kid needs, how to procedure would go, time it takes, cost, etc. But after that one meeting... crickets. Getting ahold of her has been hard. Waiting for an appointment is even harder. The standard wait time is between 30-40 minutes. We pretty much never get to see the doctor after the very first meeting where she talks you through the process and tells you about the contract and cost. She came recommended by other families but we have truly been underwhelmed. Have we seen results? Kind of? But the whole process feels very blinded and ambiguous. Nobody explains why, where, what, how. No knowledge, no updates, no information. You keep going back once every few weeks... and then you get the bill once a month and you keep paying, and paying. I would've chosen someone else if I knew. But the process has already started and it's always hard to transfer care to someone else because nobody wants to take over someone's job, especially if it's not well done. This practice isn't horrible. But mediocre at best. I would go somewhere else if I had known. I should've known - not all medical professionals are the same. A friend referred me to Caliper and I've been taking my daughter here the last two years. Dr. Leung is excellent. She always takes her time and advises me on how to help my daughter - her latest advice is to tell my daughter to stop pushing her teeth out with her tongue. One would think that a parent would be aware of these things. There's often parking along the side streets, free parking in the back lot, and metered arking on Northern Blvd. Facilities are always clean. Nice bathroom. Love the fresh water fountain with cups. Her staff is always accommodating, and I appreciate the reminder texts. Dr. Leung is often busy, so you'd want to book weeks in advance, but if you have an emergency, keep calling and hope that someone cancelled an appointment. Pricing is fair and the office always tries to accommodate you. Enjoy your trip to the orthodontist! Another plus: After leaving, we always make a pitstop at Lotus Bakery a few doors down and the Donut Craft across the street. read more

I went through my braces as a teenager but I didn't wear my retainer. I'm so glad I was referred to Invisalign at this office. Dr Leung is so patient and understanding. She is helping me correct my bite with Invisalign. From the moment you walk in there is a modern vibe in the office with an electronic sign in tablet that makes you feel like they are up to date with the latest practices. I'm ten trays away from finishing and I couldn't be more satisfied with the attention and staff there. The doctor gives you a lower price to locked you in then adds additional procedure to raise the price after you signed the contract, so kind of dishonest and ask you to pay extra for little things. Dr. Leung is the only orthodontist that made me feel comfortable with getting treatment. One of the biggest reasons I delayed in getting braces was being self-conscious about how other dentists clammored over my teeth. Dr. Leung, on the other hand, was very patient and extremely thorough in her consultations, and I knew I could trust her immediately. She also gave me a very fair pricing plan for the treatment (even threw in clear braces at no extra cost because of my occupation, which requires a lot of face to face time with clients). I have nothing but respect for her and her staff - all professionals and all friendly. I would recommend her above all other orthodontists.. if only it weren't so packed all the time! So in this review of CO treatment provided to my kids, I will personally walk you through the following: (1) Initial meeting with office of CO (2) Treatment of customers/clients after initial meeting (3) Average waiting time for Invisalign trays (4) Needed areas of improvement for CO Dr. Leung and her staff are GREAT as you meet them the first time, as they want your business. If you're willing to pay cash, she will put out extra time and attention just for you. But that's besides the point. As time progresses and as you're no longer a "new" case, you'll be treated like a forgotten boiling pot in the back of the stove (...still boiling and boiling, what's that you say? can't hear you over the other boiling pots...). Invisalign trays takes an average of What? 2 months for new trays? Do the math people, the average time is 4 weeks (or 1 month). While that 'might' seem like the standard time (according to CO) from the time of impression for the "lab" to send the trays back to CO, it generally takes about 4 weeks. 4 WEEKs for new trays, so why is it after 8 weeks of waiting that we hear ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from CO, and when WE (the clients) followed up with them we were told by a highly apologetic staff named Camila that the lab is missing "something" and when pressed, she then replied it will take an additional 2 weeks (she really sounded like just throwing out a number...any number) for the new trays to arrive. Really ? If your "buttons" fall off, you're likely to be informed that the first time replacement is free of charge but subsequent faulty buttons will be charged by the Big L herself. Accessories will be charged, replacement accessories will be charged if they break. Seriously after we questioned the quality of work performed at her clinic, materials, techniques used..etc, the harassment stopped. It gets annoying. MAKE BETTER ACCESSORIES, USE BETTER MATERIALS, IMPROVE YOUR TECHNIQUES, and HAVE A PRICE-LIST READILY AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC VIEWING. There's a reason why it's called a place of practice, and it's possible that we're expecting too high of a standard. But after experiencing everything described above, even 1 Star is too generous. I am so frustrated with this place. I can't wait for my child to be finished with braces. For every appointment we wait almost an hour outside before my child is called into the office for his appointment. My child texts me when he is seated and waiting for the dentist. He waits for another 30 to 40 minutes before the dentist comes to him. At his last appointment, I ask my child what did the dentist do. He said she looked at his teeth and said we'll see you in 5 weeks. I asked if she did anything to the braces, he said no. I really don't understand, 2 hours of waiting just to look and not do anything else. This place is such a waste of my time. My entire family except me has been under Dr Leung's orthodontic care since 5 yrs ago, first our twins, then my wife, who was SO impressed with their results that she wanted hers done, too (she is a singer). The care in follow-ups was so meticulously timed and spaced that the time (6 to 9 months) to finish the whole process did not feel burdensome at all. And the results, good grief, are a night-and-day difference. My son's lower teeth were a scrambled mess before, and are now a beauty to behold.
