Wow! Wow! We picked up take out tonight and tried a whole slew of things figuring some wouldn't be our taste. As much as I love some Greek dishes...often Greek restaurants rely too heavily on garlic, dill and lemon in ALL their dishes and it feels more like tapas than a gourmet meal. Not tonight! Calissa knocked it out of the park! Moussaka to die for... best calamari I've had in a while...spanakopita was A+...lobster bucatini was A++, salmon was a relatively small portion (4 oz?) but fried to perfection! We didn't love the leek rice or lemon potatoes but they weren't unpleasant--just not blockbuster like everything else! Fried cheese/honey/fig didn't work as takeout--probably needs to be served fresh/warm. Pita and eggplant dip, great. Greek salad yum. Spaghetti with clams, yum. Thank you for giving me a much needed break from my own cooking! We will be back. read more

Had the pleasure of dining at Calissa with my family. We live in the neighborhood but hadn't been to the restaurant in 2 years. What a great dining experience! Starting from the warm welcome by the host and hostesses at the desk, to the wonderful service from Marcos and a team of waiters and serve people, to the delicious food and cocktails. I cant say enough about the quality of the service; every person who stopped by our table was warm and professional. They thanked us for coming and for enjoying the food. I can't believe restaurants actually charge when canceling a reservation. I understand I was wrong by not cancelling within 24 hours, but Calissa did a great job in alienating a somewhat consistent customer. Calissa is a local favorite and only a five minute drive from my house. I've been to much finer restaurants in NYC/Hamptons than side of the highway Calissa that have not charged when canceling a reservation - even within a timeframe. I wasn't taking anyones table at 630 on a Friday, and for a busy restaurant they certainly filled my table and made an extra $200 off of my mistake. Simply greedy. I even offered to make another reservation instead of being charged but was refused. Too many screaming drunk brides-to-be anyway. BEWARE. read more

We ate at Calissa this past weekend. It was excellent and we will definitely be going back. The food (especially the lamb) was stunning and the wait staff know their stuff. It's a busy place, it's the Hamptons and it was a holiday weekend but they seemed to be managing things fairly well. Having just read some of the reviews from the same night we visited, I'm reminded of why I take what I read here with a grain of salt. Folks get fired up because something goes sideways with service (especially galling when people show up late and then expect a resto to magically accommodate) and they band together to Yelp-bomb the restaurant. Calissa was one of the nicest restaurants I've been to in a while. Their menu is amazing for large parties and their extensive wine list is phenomenal (One of the largest I've seen). Awesome atmosphere, great decor ( the outdoor deck is great ),friendly staff, and well experienced management. There is so much to say about this beautiful space but so little time. I just find it horrible that basically the same reviews came from all diners of one table to purposely bring down their star rating. I enjoyed Calissa and so will you. I went to Calissa last Saturday night with my girlfriend. Really enjoyed it. Food was delicious and a little bit unique which is hard to do these days. Lobster Bucatini was fantastic and had a ton of lobster- easily large enough for 3 people even though menu says for 2. I had two different cocktails - really enjoyed both - sorry forgot their names. Came here Saturday and Sunday nights for dinner and had a blast. I'm pretty sure Wendy A went to a different restaurant in a parallel universe, because her description of the menu and food is completely divorced from the reality of my experience over two nights, not to mention the actual content of the food and wine menus. The vegetable dishes were some of the highlights of my meals, along with the kafteri (spicy feta dip w/pita), a perennial favorite of mine, and particularly well-done here. The saganaki is out-of-this-world and one of the more unique takes I've seen on it because of the savory dipping sauce that it's paired with (I've only ever had lemon and honey on it). Small Plates - my group started with the rotisserie baby carrots, succotash, and the black-eyed pea salad and they were all fantastic. The rotisserie baby carrots have a great smokiness to them and the other two veggie dishes were concomitantly light and satisfying. Entrees - my group split the lobster bucatini. cheshire pork chop, rotisserie brisket (a must-try if they're keeping this one!), and the grass-fed beef (cuts rotate regularly and it was rib-eye the night we got it). The pork chop is delightfully smoky and lean, yet very moist. The rib-eye was great, and the farro salad it comes with is pairs wonderfully with the texture of the steak. The lobster bucatini was the proverbial cherry-on-top with the right amount of sweetness from the lobster contrasted against a hint of heat from aleppo pepper (a mildly spicy pepper with a hint of citrus, not commonly used aside from in my kitchen!). Drinks - we started with the Lyra and it's one of the best gin-based cocktails I've ever had, a must try for sure. Also had the Altair, which includes strawberry and thai basil, and found it refreshing. For wine we had magnums of the MIP (Made-In-Provence) at the recommendation of our waitress and it paired beautifully with everything we ate. Food aside, the space itself is a great escape, with a glitzy bar, two dining rooms, and indoor and outdoor lounges and dining areas. My friends and I hung around before and after dinner and enjoyed sitting outside on the bench and swing-chairs that were apparently imported from Mykonos! All-in-all, a fantastic experience and I can't wait to go back at some point this summer. read more

It's a beautiful restaurant with a Mediterranean flair and a fabulous menu. What also makes a great restaurant are great people. The staff are very nice. Even as I had to abruptly cancel a large party on Labor Day weekend, they were so accommodating and also did not charge me a cancellation fee. Thank you, James. Love this spot. On a Friday evening, it is definitely the best restaurant on your way East if Water Mill. Hold on it is worth getting past Southampton and driving back west after dinner. Super friendly valet (we leave our dog with them, windows open in the car, they come and check on her often). Great bar. Healthy, summery, Mediterranean menu. I am disappointed to see the one star reviews- definitely not deserving. Clearly the Babyface incident rubbed some folks the wrong way, but that wasn't the experience I had at all. Service, food and ambiance are great. This is what restaurants should be like in the Hamptons- delicious food, beautiful people and a party scene later in the evening. They had a DJ and there were a ton of folks dancing on the patio. What I love most is its an older crowd, so overall it feels more sophisticated - think Real Housewives of NY versus Summer House. Calissa is great, from food to service. We were a large party, with several children, which the restaurant accommodated without hesitation. Some of the outstanding dishes we had were the following: Grilled Octopus, tender and succulent and composed well with a light salad and the rocket salad, the menu does not note that there are wonderful slices of prosciutto which pairs so well with the figs and honey. We tried two dips: the Melzana dip, which had just the right hint of mint, and the Kafteri, with a little heat; and the pita bread was the perfect dipping companion. For the entrees, we had several: the salt baked whole bass was as juicy as if it were bathed in butter; the lobster bucatini was excellent and probably the hit of the table; and the rotisserie brisket was perfectly cooked and well pared with the cucumber-farro salad with a little horseradish. Finally, we had the suckling pig and it was very nice in its composition. We thought it would come out whole roasted. However, it appears that the chef cooked each part separately so the ribs came out with bbq sauce, the belly was roasted, the hocks were basically tender pieces of ham, etc... The restaurant was kind enough to prepare a pasta with sauce for the kids and the fingerling potatoes were perfect for them to nosh on as appetizers. The service was polished and welcoming. Made a reservation for 8:45 and was told we had to wait 30-45min to get a table outside or be seated inside. It's not legal to dine inside right now in NY because of Covid so I don't know what that was about... they had about two tables dining inside. We did wait 40mins and was seated outside. They had plenty of empty tables outside when we were seated. They did get filled later. Very nice outdoor area and food was good. They also had live band after 10pm which was nice and I really like the restaurant but what's the point of making a reservation if you still have to wait 40mins?? They said we could be seated right way if we dine inside, but i didn't know that was even an option since it's not allowed by the NY state law due to COVID. Update: someone private messaged me after I posted the review and said indoor dining is permitted outside of NYC. I assume she's with the restaurant. She didn't say who she was. I just haven't seen a restaurant in the Hampton's that had people dining indoor until I came here or maybe it's because I only go to outdoor restaurants now. If reservations thru OpenTable is for indoor dining, how can we make reservations for outdoor so I don't have to wait 40min again next time? I'm pretty sure most people are going here for the outdoor dining experience and they should assume reservations are for outside unless indoor table is requested. After all, if you look at their Instagram posts and story, it's all about the outdoor dining experience and that's what they are promoting -so why would people want to be seated inside in the summer and during the pandemic? If they can get this right, I would give them 5 star. Like most upscale restaurants, a phone call or text to confirm reservation and indoor/outdoor table would easily fix it and make it seamless. Also note, tip is included at the bar. I got two cocktails and $6 gratuity was added and charged to my card without my consent. I recently went to Calissa for my sisters bachelorette party. We were greeted by such a sweet lady, who was so excited for us to be there. Once we got to the table, it almost felt as if we were being rushed. We wanted to settle in chat, figure out what we were going to order etc. Our waiter kept coming over asking if we know what we want to order and seemed a little annoyed that we did not figure out what we wanted yet. We had first did not order drinks as we had a bottle champagne for the table already. The food came out very fast and absolutely delicious. The portions were way more than enough for 12 people and we had so much leftover to take home which was amazing. While we were eating, the three waiters kept bickering back-and-forth moving tables it seemed as if there was a head guy that was yelling at the other waiters, which seemed a little unprofessional. It seems like they have a toxic working relationship. After we were finished eating, we decided we wanted espresso martinis. About five people wanted espresso martinis and the guy said do you guys just want to get the bill now and then order the drinks at the bar? They do have a separate room in the front for after when you're done eating, you can dance and listen to music and sit at the bar, we were there with 12 girls, but there was also another bachelorette party up in the front. We were kind of just hanging out in the back at the table. He seemed a little bothered and wanted to get us out from the table so he can clean up, then offered us a pitcher of espresso martinis, I never heard of that, 95 dollar pitcher of espresso martini with ice. It was very strange. We got our drinks and we started to get ready to leave just wanted to take a picture with the girls, then I looked over to the waiter where he looked pissed off and was pointed and telling the other waiter basically saying he needs to cut us off and get us out of there. So happy to have discovered Calissa, an excellent and extremely comfortable restaurant in Water Mill. It was our first visit and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. The atmosphere is great -- a lovely bar, well-spaced tables in a large room that still feels cozy, with a pleasant Mediterranean decor and good lighting. It was a perfect, cozy setting on a cold, winter night, but I understand there's a great outdoor deck for summer dining. Most critically, of course, the food was first-rate, as was the service. A traditional Greek salad matched the best I've eaten in Greece and the fish (we had swordfish) was very fresh and well-prepared. The calamari was also wonderful. We enjoyed a leisurely meal with friends, lingering over a bottle of good Greek wine and being able to talk in a reasonably quiet room! We're just sorry it took us this long to try Calissa. It's now definitely on our go-to list, hitting the trifecta of good food, service and atmosphere! read more

We came to calissa last weekend for a family dinner in the private dining room. On the menu were tzatziki dip, gluten free calamari, Greek salad, grilled lamb, organic chicken and salt baked fish. To drink we had a mix of cocktails and wine from the very extensive list. I came over the summer with my fiancé and friends and we enjoyed live music followed by the DJ at the bar area. The star during that visit was the massive lobster pasta that the table shared alongside several vegetable sides. We sat outside on the terrace and saw the sun set. The Hampton sadly don't have a lot of places to go out anymore (unless you want to pay $100 to feel like you're at a 16 year olds birthday party) so we really liked that we could hang out after dinner in the lounge / outside bar area, listen to the DJ, dance etc- and the crowd was a mix of different ages and ethnicities. They do charge you reservation cancellation ($25 per person) if you call and cancel less than 24 hours. I called within 23 hours and was told that they will charge. We celebrated our anniversary there last night. Calissa in Water Mill, NY has imaginative food, prices in line with the current market, and very attentive service. It's a large restaurant with plenty of space between the tables allowing for privacy. Tables, silverware, lighting and decor is welcoming and somewhat informal. The house red was a high end tempranillo and especially tasty. The Greek fare is well planned and portions are adequate for the prices, which I would describe as moderate. We had Branzini, Swordfish, a fried cheese appetizer (yum), and Octopus salad. All good! They have a free private parking lot making it easy to arrive and depart. The tip is put on the bill automatically, not common in The Hamptons, and slightly annoying, but I probably would have left more so I didn't care. Place to be seen and spend money on expensive but tasty drinks, not to be treated to prompt service. We arrived at 8:40 for our 845 reservation and were asked to sit at the bar. We ordered drinks, which were excellent and some appetizers-olives and an eggplant dip, which were fare. At 9:30 we asked how Martebel was coming and we're told that it would be ready shortly. At 9:40 we asked again and we're showed the table literally right by the kitchen entrance. We asked for a different table and at 10 o'clock we sat down to dinner. We did not receive a single apology for the delay. Once we sat down the waiter promptly asked if we needed drinks. Having ordered a few rounds, the last of which we brought with us to the table, his request was clearly superfluous. We declined his offer and he disappeared for 25 minutes.Finally returned to our table and asked if we were ready to order dinner, something we were ready to do when we sat down having already looked at the menu for sometime. I wife and I asked to share a fish. We we asked about Bronzino and were told the fish were small to share. The waiter recommended halibut, as excellent for two. The other couple each ordered Bronzino. When the food came the Halibut for two was clearly smaller than each of the Bronzino. All the fish was pretty good shot my trash, although the halibut which with poached with white wine in a parchment paper was a bit alcoholic. Personally I would've reduced the white wine before I poached the fish I. The parchment paper. Matter of taste. Stepping back from the situation it seems that the long delays were part of a ploy to have us order more drinks and spend more money. I understand that the restaurants in the Hamptons need to make their money in the summer. And nobody who knows me would suggest that I like to eat early, but starting my main course after 1030 at night when I have an 845 dinner reservation was just too much. Perhaps if the manager or the hostess even once apologize for the delay I would've been in a better mood. Anyway, this is a bar which makes reasonably good but overpriced drinks and prepares good quality but over priced fish reasonably well. It's more place to be seen in the place to eat. read more

Dear Victims, If I could give less than one star, I would. Our server, Dimitri, could not have been less attentive. Meanwhile, they add 20% tip for zero service. Matter of fact, they charge you for a refill of iced tea...and then 30 minutes later argue with you about the fact it took 30 minutes to refill your tea. Trust--he could retrieve the time stamp. very disappointed in the poor management and service. we made a reservation for a birthday and requested to be seated outside. we were a party of four seated at a table clearly for two, which was shoved between two other tables so close that we could not pull out our chairs without bumping the backs of other tables. we asked to be seated elsewhere and were met with passive aggressive hostility by the manager. he actually had the nerve to come over to chastise us for requesting a different table and was absurdly rude about the whole situation. he is clearly not well trained, and should not be in the service industry. not only was the original table NOT compliant with COVID-19 safety regulations (which a quick call to the local health dept will easily confirm), it was an extremely disappointing response from someone who manages a high-end restaurant to speak so rudely to us. fortunately our evening was rectified by our lovely waiter. he knew we were celebrating and gave us a round of drinks on the house for the trouble. HE should be the manager, not the jerk who yells at customers for expecting decency and respect. if the food were not so delicious, i would give this place 1 star. read more
