They offer a large variety of bagel and non bagel items, and have a pretty inventive menu for a bagel-focused deli My first time I had the Edgewater, and I also recently tried their Boca Club bagel, which was absolutely delicious (the whitefish was insane!!!). I also did try their Strawberry B&W Cookie with Oreo and while the strawberry and cookie portion were great, the Oreo part was not my favorite - this might be a personal taste thing though. The cold brew isn't anything special but it gets the job done The workers are very attentive and nice, and it's absolutely stunning and vibrant inside. Would continue to go back for their whitefish and to try some of their other specialities! read more

I ordered the Sun City - pastrami, bodega-style egg, melted American & cheddar cheeses, spicy honey on Everything Bagel. Added a Latke to the sandwich. Near perfect and delicious breakfast sandwich that I crave. No ingredient was dry or overcooked. Bagel was delightfully soft and didn't stress my jaw. I would've liked the bagel and/or Latke to be crispy. Also think they should give more pastrami. Service was helpful and friendly. Tables/seats were covered in crumbs. read more

Finally got to try call your mother bagels today. The store is a great example of maximalism, very loud colors and loud music. I know they're known for their creative bagel sandwiches, but I had to try a bagel w shmear first. I got a cheddar bagel w garlic and herb cream cheese and man. They do a very solid bagel. I was lucky that no one was in line ahead of me when I got there, bc right after I ordered, a ton of ppl came in behind me. They also sell a bunch of bright colored merch. I don't love that this business is owned by private equity, most of us know and understand the downfalls of PE, but for the sake of this review, I'll end by saying.. hopefully the quality of food remains high. I think the bagels are actually really good however the toppings really lost me. The latkes are super over spiced and quite mushy which made the whole bagel very wet. I also added bacon and they charged me $5 which was kind of crazy for one piece of bacon, you could buy a whole pack! The cheese bread was also superrr peppery and kind of took over the whole flavor. Will definitely be back for a bagel but not a $20 sandwich. read more

Call Your Mother Deli is a new bagel shop that opened up in Wicker Park last week! I was excited to try it since I had heard great things about it from my friends in DC. I went 2 days after they opened on a Thursday morning--the shop was crowded and full of people, but I was still able to place and receive my order fairly quickly and find a seat. The service was solid. However, I was quite disappointed by the food. I went with The Thunderbird. The bagel itself was really dry and hard to chew, and the sausage and egg were both flavorless. The sandwich was quite bland and lacked flavor. My friend also did not enjoy his order; his egg salad later made his stomach hurt.They were also already sold out of several of the sweet treats when I had gotten there around 10am. Also, the cafe is super loud inside. They had music blaring, and the tables are pretty small and close together, so it was hard to even hear my friend who was sitting across from me. They also do not have free Wi-Fi. Overall, I was pretty disappointed by my experience and will likely not return. read more

Back at Call Your Mother two years after our DC trip and happy to report: still every bit as wonderful as we remembered. This time we got the Bacon Sun City, Moon River, and Don Cesar bagel sandwiches, plus a Honey Lavender Matcha Latte and a Confetti Cookie. The Bacon Sun City was delicious, hearty, and super filling - perfect for my husband who prefers a heavier breakfast sandwich. The Moon River honestly felt like the healthier cousin of the Bacon Sun City haha, but still very satisfying and flavorful. The bagels themselves were chewy in the best way and held up really well with all the fillings. Also loved the bright, fun atmosphere that somehow still feels cozy and welcoming at the same time. Bagel sandwiches were shockingly unimpressive. $13 for a lox bagel is a steal but you pay for what you get - bagel and cream cheese both tasted store bought. The SEC bagel was truly disappointing. Honestly tasted like McDonald's. The chicken sausage tasted like it was frozen from Walmart and the eggs tasted fake. The cold brew was good and something I'd order again. Call Your Mother has recently taken over the space of what formerly was Dimo's here near the Damen blue line stop. Its kitschy and colorful interior goes all out, in stark contrast to the clean white bakery/kitchen which splits the area into two and turns bagel making into spectacle. The line ran down the block and yet the service was super efficient- they run this shit like the navy. The seasonal menu is cutesy and I'm sure will make coming back over and over stay fresh. We live in the neighborhood and were excited to see this opening up in an otherwise empty spot along Damen which has sadly seen a lot of closure lately. The shop is brightly colored inside and out and the workers are all very friendly. We came on opening day to try bagel sandwiches, a variety of bagels and coffee. For bagel sandwiches we tried the Sun City and Thunderbird. Both were well filled and reasonably priced compared to other spots in Chicago. The bagel itself is pretty doughy / chewy despite being toasted. I came back to try the Royal Palm breakfast sandwich and thought it was also reasonably priced for the amount of filling. They do go heavy on the cream cheese and your lox portion is pretty standard - not an abundance but also more than 2 small slices. This time I requested extra toasted bagel and while the inside was charred the outside didn't get much toasting action unfortunately. Not sure what they use for toasting but it doesn't get the job done. read more

Better neighborhood breakfast bagel sandwiches than Bro Bagel imo. The Thunderbird was a great surprise, kind of like a bagel version of a McGriddle with lots of sweet maple flavor. The Bacon Sun City was excellent as well (though we subbed a different bagel for the Everything). Wasn't wild about the latkes, which seemed premade and weren't very fresh/hot, but they had a good flavor at least. Friendly staff, and fellow patrons were all friendly as well.
