Never had Cambodian food before. First time for everything! Ordered 5 beef skewers, 4 lao sausages, papaya salad, and the beef kroeung soup! Cash only, we dined in. Total was about $30. We also got some dried thin beef that was near the register, similar to beef jerky. The [beef skewers] were sweet, had a unique tartness to them. I thought they were just alright, wouldn't order again. [Lao sausages] were good, cooked well can't complain. The [papaya salad] was good. It had a nice kick and if I'm not mistaken you can taste the fish sauce used. I wish it was chilled more but that's a personal preference. [Kroeung soup] is a sour soup made with morning glory and had a strong lemongrass flavor. It reminded me of Vietnamese canh chua or Filipino sinigang. Ate it with some rice, it was delicious! Updating my review because although they have some good beef sticks, the papaya salad, banh xeo and Thai tea aren't that great unfortunately. Thai tea was luke warm and just sweet, the Banh xeo had the onions uncooked. We like our onions cooked with the meet which flavors the overall dish. It just had no taste. We do however everytime we're in town; it's our backup when Angel Cruz isn't poppin we come here to swoop a dozen of the $1 beef sticks. read more

So I've been wanting to try this place, and finally did last night. The only reason I give it a 4 **** is, they only take cash, oh and it's totally a hole in the wall type place. We ordered the spring rolls with Shrimp and pork. Fresh and yummy... with the sauce to dip and roasted peanuts. Hubby ordered the grilled pork with vermicelli noodles (similar to the Vietnamese style, however everything is laid out on a plate as opposed to chopping the "salad" stuff into the bowl with the noodles and grilled meat. I ordered the grilled meat plate. It came with 2 of each- Laos Sausage, chicken sticks chicken wings and beef sticks. (I tried 1 of each) The pickled cabbage is simple but compliments the grilled meat well. And I ordered a small side of rice and that was plenty. However, I did not like the Prahok dipping sauce too strong, literally taste like it just came out of the jar no additional flavor added just salty. The chicken curry was decent nothing special. Cambodian home cooking. You can choose eat there or to go. Constant business. Fresh blended smoothies, noodle soups less than 8$, the menu is different than what is posted on the wall. Stuffed chicken wings: nobody does a chicken wing better than the Cambodian version of chicken wings. Stuffed with some combination of bean vermicelli, maybe port, veggies, every recipe is different. This one has lemongrass, soybean paste and some other fragrant spices which I can't identify. There is a nonstuffed wing which is orange/red like a tandori chicken. Very crispy skin with moist interior w/o the salty brined flavor. Eat it hot out of the hot case for crispy skin. Once you take it home it gets soggy. Laos Sausage: this may not be the same as the Cambodian Twako, There is a sausage which is fermented at room temperature for a week to develop a sour flavor. The health govt. frowns on such food prep. methods in this country. The salt preserves the sausage. Stir fried water cress: the rice was free. Delicious, different than Chinese interpretation of ong choy which is usually a garlic stir fry. This version had fried onions; maybe some shrimp paste. Very good flavor. Different. Much better than almost any other version of ong-choy I have tried. Very tasty. Couldn't duplicate it even if they gave me the ingredient list. Very complex savory flavor. Preserved salmon belly: they sell this in quart mason jars, $13.00. Steam for 15 minutes and eat. Salty, very very very soft. Was too salty for me. Baby preserved mango; looks like giant garlic cloves. Very crunchy, sweet and sour. Probably the crunchiest pickle ever. Much better than pickled cucumbers. Preserved cabbage quarters: dont know how to eat. Fried catfish: eat in a wrap. They charbroil the fish instead of deep frying it. Can get the fish to go and make your own wraps. Fish sauce; they sell different sized mason jars of fish sauce, some you use on fish, some you use on other dishes. Haven't figured out the difference yet. Like visiting Cambodia w/o the plane ticket. Takes a couple visits to figure out how to eat everything. read more

And the iced coffee was too sweet to the point I had to give it to my sister and I only took two sips. The chilli pepper actually is spicy. The flavoring of the juice isn't sour enough for me. There wasn't a balance. All I tasted was the saltiness and spice, but missing the balance of sweet with sour. I also bought beef jerky. It was sliced thinly, but super dry that it was actually crunchy. I wasn't a fan of the texture. The place has been run down. It smells like a men's urinal stall. The place was so dirty. Had I not already ordered, I would've just left bc the place was giving me high anxiety about the cleanliness and safety of my food preparation. I had to ask for a new spoon bc the one given to me was dirty with some brown substance. The new spoon given to me was barely any better. As far for food, I came back today because I remembered the babaw kreoung was so good. They put everything in it. That was not the case today. So, today was my boyfriend and I first time coming in here. We ordered the beef sticks, papaya salad, a pork rice plate, and a chicken rice plate, with a mocha drink. The beef stick was good and the papaya salad was good, but when we got the rice plates it was different from the pictures. Plus with the chicken, they didn't have the chicken thigh, but she already had told me that they had some other type and it was kinda hard. And with the pork plate, it was supposed to come with a crispy pork and the dark boiled egg, but it came with barbecue pork and a fried egg. The pickled carrot jicama salad was spoiled and I took a bite out of it . The tomatoes and cucumbers looked old. The cashiers/server told my boyfriend that she was going to get him water and never came. She didn't check up on us unless see was giving our food and didn't take the empty dishes from our table. The soup that they give on the side was good though. So that's what gave the two stars because if it wasn't for the soup, I would've gave one. I should've took a picture of the table because they are all messed up the epoxy on it was all cracked and there is some holes on it. They should put tablecloths on top. Oh, and we didn't know that it was only cash so I had to go get cash. While I was getting the money, my boyfriend stayed and while he was waiting, he tried to ask for a to go box but the lady wouldn't give it to him until the food was paid. Ordered egg rolls to go, as I was eating them out of the paper bag, there was a hair in it! I also bought papaya to-go on a different day and there was hair in that also. My sister loves papaya salad, and there isn't any good places where she lives, so I bought her papaya from there cause angel cruz was closed. I opened it and took a quick glance for hair and it seemed ok. As she was eating it, there was a glittery pink NAIL POLISH chip from someone's nails!! I was so embarrassed giving that to my sister, I never went back. A year later I order their papaya hoping they have improved by now and NOPE there was literally a piece of hair in my papaya. This place is freaking delicious. Ordering is a little haphazard because there's not really a menu, just pictures on the wall and random stuff in a shelf. Don't be fooled! Everything is soooo delicious and tastes homemade. My go-to is the papaya salad with a couple beef sticks or lao sausages. Their chicken sticks are pretty delicious too. I also recently tried the prahok ktiss (salty meat dip with vegetables on the side) and it was perfectly done. Everything is cash only, but also super affordable. I try to bring my friends here that visit from out of town and have never tried Cambodian food. There can be a language barrier sometimes as not everyone that works there speaks English, but I've never had any trouble with them getting my order wrong. read more

First impression....as I walked in the "owner" was behind the counter talking to a customer she knows who's ordering to go. She and I made eye contact, she smiled but didn't say anything. I walked closer to look at then menu then ask if I can sit anywhere in the restaurant. It was empty, however, most of the tables were not clean with food left from those who ate and left before me. She came over a bit later and clean my table. She apologized because it was not clean and said, "sorry, my staff is lazy." I didn't think much of it. Restroom after I ordered: it looked like a run down place abandoned ages ago. Need repaint, repairs, etc. The walls next to me has sauce stains, holes in the leather chairs, table need touch up.... I got my food. The rice porridge was good. Chicken curry was not bad but it was VERY water down. Rice, was left too long. Staff were nice and friendly. Over all, if you can get pass the interior of the restaurant/restroom then give it a try because the food was pretty good. I guess they didn't really care much for presentation. But that didn't happen until my bf and I started dating . With him being from Stockton , he grew up being familiar with Cambodian food . One day, I was feeling adventurous and after talking to my half Cambodian sister in law, I was ready to see what Cambodian food had to offer. We came to this little restaurant and ordered what yelp suggested: sausage and beef sticks . No papaya for me because I'm just not a fan of anything with vinegar. Beef sticks - tender, cooked at medium rare, and very flavorful. I think it may be an acquired taste for some people though because I found it to be very sweet and they did not hold back on the lemongrass. Overboard on the lemongrass would be an understatement but some people are actually into that , just be warned in case you aren't into the taste of lemongrass. Sausage - one sausage was enough to feed two people, they're pretty big and served on a skewer. Just like the beef stick, the sausage had a sweet lemongrass taste. It basically tasted like the beef stick but in the form of a sausage. Everything is a $1 or under. Super cheap eats ! For what they offer and the price for it, you really can't complain . Today, I ordered Kathiew (combination soup) and I thought it was pretty good. The broth was flavorful, and had a lot of meat. I also tried their homemade beef jerky for the first time. It's better than most of the Asian beef jerky from the Asian Supermarkets. You'll have to give it a try! I didn't order their Papaya Salad today, but I normally do. We usually try to support small business but I can say that my husband and I will not be returning. The food was ok, pretty much plain. I am better off cooking myself at home. The first thing we noticed was that the restaurant takes only cash. It's 2022 -- seriously?! But we were famished after finding out that our first-choice restaurant was closed on Mondays. After we ordered, the entrees came out first, along with a couple of flimsy napkins that we used up by the time the appetizers appeared mid-meal. The seafood soup had plentiful, real shrimp, some fake crab, and a few pieces of octopus in a salty chicken-stock & fish sauce broth. When the appetizers arrived, one of the spring rolls was atop the other two -- a bad mistake for the sticky rice wrappers, as I found out when I carefully pried it off the bottom two, but it nearly unrolled nonetheless. The chicken curry noodle has a LOT of bones in there that literally take up your entire bowl. The broth is still delicious but there's just bones everywhere. The Laos sausages were not all the same size but customers are expected to pay $1 each for them. This restaurant doesn't know how to work under pressure. When it gets busy, the waitress tends to forget orders, especially when it's a big one. I would recommend to hire more staff to help with the restaurant.
