As a vegan, I was excited to try this place based off of the raving reviews it received from others. I was a little iffy, given the fact that the plate I ordered didn't come with rice, but was priced at a good $17. Regardless, I was convinced by my raging love for flavorful Mediterranean food that it had to be worth it. Unfortunately, I was left quite disappointed. I'd ordered the Falafel Plate, which comes with a side of baba ghanoush, salad, and pita bread. I will say that the falafel were fairly sized, which was great. Unfortunately, however, the dish immensely lacked flavor. I didn't taste any spice or flavor when eating the falafel. They tasted very neutral. I tried adding the baba ghanoush to see if it could enhance it, but I also found it to be quite lacking in flavor. The salad was garnished with dressing, which I hoped might add some delicious flavor to everything. Unfortunately, it also did not seem to taste like anything. Truly, the most flavorful part of the plate was the slices of pickles they provided on the side. Their vinegary flavor provided some contrast to the otherwise neutrally-flavored dish. While I can't speak for the restaurant in regards to what it offers to all consumers, because meat-based dishes may offer better experiences, I can definitely speak on the behalf of vegans and say that there are definitely more flavorful and cost-friendly options for us. read more

I stopped in around 3 p.m. No customers were there. The only guy that was working was eating at a back table. He didn't seem happy to stop eating. I got the hummus and the pita bread was hard & stale. The tzatziki salad was ok. I felt like he Just slapped it all together & didn't care. He hid in the back & never came out. I waited forever for him to bring the bill. I heard him yapping on the phone for a while. I had to get up & ask for the bill. I paid & didn't leave a tip--my first time. We stopped at the Cambria Café for breakfast on our way out of town. It was a tad crowded but we were able to get seated and the service was fast and very friendly. The food was great. I had machaca and my husband had a traditional American breakfast. My grandson enjoyed the pork which was cooked to perfection. We were very happy with everything and we'll be back. read more

This unassuming restaurant across the street from Linn's serves delicious Mediterranean dishes such as kebabs and falafels along with fabulous lamb chops and kid friendly dishes. The prices are reasonable, and the quality of the side dishes -- yellow rice, hummus, green salads -- is outstanding. Service is attentive and courteous. Ambiance is what you would expect from a casual restaurant. This may not look like a "date" restaurant, but your partner will thank you for the great food. read more

This is a difficult post to write however after the family and I fighting for the restroom most of the night I am obliged to sit and write. In searching for a place to eat we stumbled upon this location. Being a fan of kabobs we chose to try even though the place was empty (should have been a clue). For the most part the food tasted good except for the cold still pink chicken, of which we did not partake (clue number 2) however the beef tasted great so we chose to enjoy. Fast forward 2 hours and 150 dollars later the first bubbly gut began and subsided sometime in the early am. We ate here several years ago and the food is fantastic. Last year ate here and the food is still great but service was poor. This year tried again and there is NO SERVICE!! Other reviewer described our experience perfectly. Server seemed to "hide", never asked if we needed anything (I would have ordered another beverage) - the OWNER should know the lack of service is ruining his business. This business will not last and it's a shame because his (relative maybe?) is ruining it for him. Passing by two days now I haven't seen anyone stay there to eat except us yesterday. I was in a hurry, ordered the beef tacos, here, and a coffee with cream. Once my order arrived and I sampled Syrian cooking,, I was amazed at the texture, the flavor of the chunks of meat, the fresh lettuce and cheese. The lighting is a little light for me, but hey, it was lunchtime. My waiter was attentive. I went in with very little expectation as my husband is the one who's more into Mexican food than I am. I was pleasantly surprised how delicious everything was! They serve a huge variety of breakfast and lunch fares. I ordered the chorizo omelette although the linguica was also tempting. I got English muffin as an accompaniment. It came buttered already, and super delicious. Okay... His was my first English muffin in years! The omelette with avocado was so good. My daughter ordered the ham and cheese sandwich soup combo. It came with full size sandwich which was impressive with a little over a cup of tortilla soup. Because she's not we much of soup lover, my son and I demolished the soup. It was so fresh. I've been so so many places where there serve old soup that's reheated. This one was made that morning, and I can tell the freshness. And can we talk about the beautiful Cally lilies blooming in front in December?! I noticed that the owners are very friendly with the regulars and know the people. Maybe their warmth made these flowers bloom so early? It was 58 degrees, BTW. Oh, they also fired up the heater for us in the tent. We felt very sheltered from the cold. After combing through Yelp for breakfast spots in Cambria, we ended up here. Every spot had negative reviews on either customer service or quality of food within a month of this review, EXCEPT Cambria Cafe. We ordered the Bacon, Sausage, & Cheese Omelette with Country Potatoes, Steak Ranchero Omelette with Hashbrowns, and Kids Pancake Breakfast. Everything satisfied our breakfast needs! Eggs were fluffy and cheese melted just right. Hashbrowns were crispy and potatoes seasoned well. Bacon, sausage, and steak full of flavor. Being from San Diego, I told my wife that the steak/carne asada in our burritos/tacos down there need to be seasoned and as tender as what I had in the Steak Ranchero Omelette. We were seated immediately on the large outdoor patio and had three separate heaters turned on all around us to warm our frosty morning bones. Service was excellent and the food was fantastic! It seemed as if the owner was serving the customers when we went there for lunch. We had chicken shawarma and falafel. Both were quite good, and in good proportions. Falafel texture is important. Ours was hot and crispy, light, not oily, and not gritty. (I actually like even more crunch, but this was delightful.) It tasted fresh and well seasoned. The chicken spicing had nice notes of cinnamon and cumin, and the chicken was cooked well. (Prior reviewers have had issues with this, but ours was both done and still moist.) The tahini was thicker than usual, and the toum (garlic sauce) a bit thinner, but both were good, as was the hummus and tzatziki. I will echo other reviews in stating that our plates were skimpy on toum, hummus and tahini. This is so common at ME restaurants. Here, and elsewhere, I just order some in advance as side dishes, but I don't really understand. Tahini and hummus are not expensive. I am sure of this, because we use tahini make hummus from scratch at home. I don't think Cambria Cafe has its own parking spaces, and it seemed they were still sort of in start-up mode. I do hope they get better and better, and build up a steady trade. Every town deserves to be served excellent Mediterranean food, especially a nice one like Cambria. read more

My husband is Lebanese, so we tend to stop at any Mediterranean restaurant to try it out. We live in So. County, and we have tried a few Mediterranean restaurants in the area.. It was absolutely Amazing! We were impressed. We got the VIP Combo and shared, plus some Babaganoosh on the side. We shared and it was the perfect amount. Meat was so flavorful & tender!! The falafels were probably THE best I have ever had in my life. Freshly made; light and warm and crispy on the outside while almost fluffy on the inside. Flavor was nutty and balanced and tasted so dang good with the salad and hummus and tahini it came with. Soup had great flavor and not too salty. I like to consider myself a foodie and when we arrived at Cambria Cafe I was, at first, skeptical of what I was going to experience. The owners do their best to make this basic, no frills, restaurant look a little better by using table cloths. From the sidewalk, it looks like a basic diner. I decided to trust the reviews I've read about the place and went in for dinner. This is NOT the place for a romantic, ambiance filled date. That being said, it is the place for an amazing meal. The food is incredible. We started with hummus and falafel. I've had falafel all over the world and this, by far, was the best I've ever had. The perfect blend of spices and the perfect crust led to a moist, deliciously savory nugget that I could eat every day. Truly blew my mind. I ordered Shish Tauke that was perfectly cooked. Not one piece of dried chicken. Brilliantly spiced and perfectly moist on a bed of seasoned rice. It came with a salad and humus. The char on the chicken was absolutely perfect. Although they serve alcohol, I had an unsweetened iced tea. My husband ordered the chicken shawarma. It was perfectly seasoned with a marinade that makes my mouth water just from the memory of it. It too came on a bed of perfectly seasoned rice, a salad and hummus. He ordered a bottle of cold mineral water. If you want ice, you'll have to ask for it. It's quite obvious that the folks cooking the food here REALLY KNOW what they are doing. There was plenty of seating and a lot of locals came in for food to go. Although the restaurant itself is far from fancy, the food is what will bring us back the next time we are in Cambria. We went to this location two owners ago and loved eating there for breakfast every visit to Cambria. We were so excited to know that it was back to being a cafe again. The menu was nice. The restaurant was very clean and tastefully decorated. Love the new padding on the seats also. The service was good. The menu gave good options. The only regret was the food. My avocado, spinach and bacon omelette was good. Spinach and avocado were fresh. Although small it was good. The country potatoes seemed too perfectly cut to have been fresh and lacked a lot of flavor, but good. The other two people ordered pancakes and waffles. They weren't too happy about them as they too seemed possibly the kind that are frozen and not freshly made? Although the orange juice was stated by our server that it was fresh, it lacked pulp. Tasted good but wondered if it was freshly squeezed. We are hoping that this was just a start up and in time will improve. We will give it another chance sometime in the future. Great Mediterranean food in Cambria. Everything was fresh and tasty. The owner, Moussa, treated us to some Baba Ghanuj and pita chips and the best baklava that I've ever had. He also informed me after ordering my Kebbeh that they were out of Tzatziki if I wanted to order something else. I said it was fine and he insisted on giving me two stuffed grape leaves instead, which I felt was great customer service. Moussa also explained how to enjoy each bite - with pita, hummus and tahini and to follow it up with a bite of pickle or pickled turnip and the Mediterranean salad. Everything was really good. We walked into the restaurant and was immediately greeted by the owner. He was very friendly. We ordered the beef shawarma and the grilled kebbeh. We were given complimentary Babb's ghanuj with pita chips while we waited for our food. It was delicious. Everything about our meal was spot on. Very flavorful. The owner and his aunt( the cook) were attentive to us. After such a filling meal, we decided not to have any dessert. The owner tempted us with a piece of namoura, very glad that he did. Looking for a good old fashion burger and ready their sign boasted of home scratch cooking. Window menu showed the cafe looked to specialize in Mexican cuisine. Went ahead and ordered a bacon cheeseburger with a cold beer. Was disappointed that the did not serve Coors Light but I opted for a good Mexican beer. The burger was perfectly cooked with fresh ingredients bing the lettuce was crispy and the tomato's were ripe. The bacon was crispy and fully cooked which was a plus. I observed neighboring plates of Mexican foods and they equally looked amazing. My wife ordered a fresh squeezed mimosa and she found it to be too sweet as she felt a hint of simple syrup or sugar might have been added. I would definitely give this place a shot again. read more

We had a very good takeaway of their lunch specials of chicken and vegetarian plates. Portions were ample and both dishes were well prepared. The chicken was tender and flavored with cinnamon and cardamom. The falafels in the vegetarian plate were freshly made and dry and greasy. It's evident that they care about good preparation. We had just finished dinner elsewhere and were walking down the street and paused to check Cambria Cafe's menu when a man (the owner?) came out to greet us and assure us the food was good. That's so old country. We decided to go there the next day. Glad we did. My family just had an delicious lunch. Between us we had baba ganoush, pita chips, fattoush salad, chicken tenders, beef kabob, and kofta kabob. Yum. I especially liked the variety of foods on many of the entree plates: your choice of protein plus yellow rice, salad, hummus, roasted tomato and onion, and some very potent garlic sauce.
