We stopped in the Camden Deli for a quick lunch yesterday before heading home after a long weekend up that way. We wish we had found this place sooner! We were a group of six and everyone just loved their sandwiches. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was casual and fun. We sat outside on the upstairs deck with a beautiful view of Camden harbor and the Megunticook river flowing below. We were just planning on stopping in to grab a quick sandwich and get on the road... but ended up staying and relaxed on the deck for quite a while. Apparently there is a happy hour here, too! I have been coming to the Deli for years, and I do love coming here. They are not super careful about food allergies, however. I ask them NOT to put my gluten free bread on the grill, which is the same grill that they use to do ALL the other wheat breads on, but they always do. I have stopped trying. I wish they would step it up for food allergies. My husband and kids love it here, though. The customer service is great and they are a great family. They have one of the prettiest spots in town to sit and enjoy a meal. They also have a small bar in the second story, so it's a nice place for a romantic drink. I don't know how long this place has been here. I do know that I've been visiting Camden since I was old enough to remember, and probably earlier. I went in here for the first time this summer, and I was blown away. First off, they serve Boar's Head brand deli meats. You could slice that onto cardboard and I'd eat it. You could shoot it right into my mouth off the slicer and I'd be even happier. They have a ton (and I mean many) of selections. From the simple to the complex. Lots of interesting creations. There are several kinds of breads that they pair with the proper ingredients. All the sandwiches come with Wise-brand potato chips. Gotta love that brand. There is a wide selection of soft drinks in a self serve fridge, classic deli style, if you ask me. The restaurant is small, but you can find a table. There's a nice view out over the harbor too. The restaurant is perched on top of the waterfall in downtown Camden (can't miss it.) It also looks like they have a few beer selections too. Really, I cannot think of anything better than this, for a small deli. Clean, friendly service and decent prices. It makes me nostalgic of my trips to Maine. There is also a wide variety of deserts that looked absolutely awesome, but I don't do desert most of the time. I think they were all homemade. This cute little deli is relaxed, and in the Summer would be a great hot spot for a little espresso, baked good, or a light salad. Right on the water, on the Camden spillway/waterfalls, and the tables near the windows are the best. The view is gorgeous- the boats, the breeze. We just went last week for the first time, and it seemed that we were the only non-locals in attendance. A real hot spot for the locals. I got an Italian Sandwich, husband a gourmet grilled cheese... yummy!!! And filling. Husband a cappuccino for desert (gave it a good rating, his comment "they did it right, not too much milk!"), and I had a pumpkin bar with cream cheese frosting that was perfect- moist. A lot of people were having their soups... or one of their fresh salads... Definitely a great place on your way through town, or for a quick lunch or breakfast... Grab something for takeout and go hiking... When we come through in the summer we'll stop for sure! read more

Good food, which along with location are positives for this restaurant. But the counter is staffed by kids who need management. Appears they left the oldest teenager in charge as he worked the register, and he was rude to our group. In balance, I would be unlikely to return. read more

We love this place! The food is excellent, the service is good and the view is awesome. Our food was served quickly, displayed well and our server was friendly and helpful. If you are gay, go elsewhere because Camden Deli does not want your business! Inept management equals incompetent table service and if the poor excuse for a waitress had gotten the fat out of her ears and stopped trying to push drinks on us, she may have gotten the order right. After pointing to it on the menu and hearing her repeat it, she brings the wrong menu item. We gave her every opportunity to correct her mistake but upon her first check-in, she slithers away without even an apology- let alone an offer to make it right. She says absolutely nothing! A follow-up check-in comes as if everything is peachy-keen and we inform her again of her mistake- again nothing. We didn't leave a tip but not thinking that would be enough, we alert the management. This whale of a wench then lies to the manager in our faces AND he backs her - UNBELIEVABLE. It must have had everything to do with the rainbow flag canvas tote on my shoulder as I'd sure hate to think it was because of my skin color. Gay and/ or black lives matter not at Camden Deli but when I dispute the charge with my bank and am credited for goods/ services not received, they'll both matter then. read more

The views at this location are fantastic, but that is pretty much all I liked about the place. The sandwiches we had tasted good, but they were not the size I would expect for the price. The place is just not a good value for the prices they charge. The Snapple was $2.99, and 20 oz sodas cost $2.50. Sandwiches need to be larger to be called a deli. read more

In the land of delicious lobster rolls, this is the place to avoid. The lobster salad tasted old, not fresh, was stringy with a strange mealy texture and was slathered in salty mayonnaise. This was suggested to us as a good spot. It had a great deli menu. Turkey Ruben was a bit burned but good. Apparently there is an upper deck where there is sit down service but we ate inside. Prices reasonable. They had beer and cider available for drinks inside. I would return for picnic. read more

STAY AWAY! The sign out front says "Friendly waitstaff". Just goes to show that you can't believe everything you read. There's seating upstairs, so I went up to get a table. They were full up on the deck, so I asked the waitress if anyone may be leaving soon. She said yes. My mother was downstairs, so I asked her to hold the table for us while I went to grab her. She told me that she wouldn't hold the table, and that I had to come up there with food from the deli if I wanted to sit down. She was very condescending, but I was hungry, so whatever. Meanwhile, my mom had asked someone else downstairs, and they told her you have to sit down upstairs before you can order food! So, we went back upstairs and waited. A table was cleared and we sat down at it. It wasn't the best seat though, so when two minutes later a really nice seat opened up, I asked the waitress if we could move. She said "No, you sat down, so you have to stay there." We hadn't even ordered anything yet! She was a nasty piece of work, and I was so fed up, that we up and left. If you care about spending your money at a place that deserves it, stay away from the Camden Deli. read more

Disappointing! The lobster roll was all clawmeat with very little lobster and too much mayo on a cheap white roll, which is neither buttered or toasted. I had to do a little fishing myself to find the small spoonful of seafood in the large bowl of thin white seafood chowder. The view IS lovely from the dining room. read more

Disgusting. My lobster roll was pathetic had 3 claws and a tiny bit of knuckle meat. This place will go pout of business if they remain this cheap. Also the meat tasted watery. I live in the general area, and I have to say that I'm quite disappointed...I have been to Camden Deli many times over the years without a complaint. On the other hand, I stopped by yesterday with a friend who had never been there, and was extremely disappointed. We went upstairs to sit out on the deck and have coffee. Worst service I have had anywhere in a very long time! Waitress walked right by us 4 times without so much as even eye contact, nevermind acknowledging us, as we stood by the sign saying, "Please wait to be seated". I eventually had to go ask if we could sit down. After sitting down, she didn't come over for a very long time to take our order. They were not very busy, so I couldn't even give her the benefit of the doubt. Even when we were the ONLY table left, she never came out to check on us... she never once came back!! When we finally decided to leave and even when we walked up to the counter, she didn't acknowledge us. We had to ask for the check and then not even a thank you...I am a leader in the industry of customer service, and quite honestly I should have complained on the spot, but I don't think it would have made a difference. This blonde haired woman needs some major re-training...or maybe this just isn't the job for her! read more

As a local I have been going to the Camden Deli for over a decade. It's a bit of a drive for me but it's worth it. I have never been disappointed in any of the hundreds of meals that I have had there. Deli meats and cheeses are shaved thin. Always a sign of a good deli. The soups are excellent. I've tried many that I was uncertain if I would like and in the end loved them. Yes staffing is on the younger side but the owner Tom (also a young guy) is on site almost every day and things move quickly even when busy. I tend to avoid the crowds by going during the off season or going later in the evening during the summer season. Locally this is the best sandwich spot in the mid coast area with ownership that cares about getting it right. It's not perfect. I would be an even bigger fan if they baked their own breads or hooked up with a local bakery. Overall an excellent restaurant that will remain my go to sandwich spot. read more
