Don't be fooled by the 3-star rating! After all, that's how you know it's a good Chinese restaurant. Portions were MASSIVE. Talk about bang for your buck. I got the chicken leg with rice and the meat was perfectly tender and easy to navigate, even with a plastic knife. Their closing hours are probably not accurate. When I went, they closed an hour before Google listed them to. But, they were still taking to-go orders until closing.

The worst and the most disgusting food I have ever eaten in my life, you pay $17 for $3 for stale frozen food and cheap ham meat with no flavor in the soup. When there's no people in the restaurant I should realize there must be reason for that. Environment just as normal restaurants.

I walked past Camille's and the food smelled so good. As any person would do, I stopped walking and tried some food. I ordered the Spicy Beef Hand Pulled Noodles. It was decent. There was a reasonable amount of vegetables and beef with the noodles. The noodles were fresh and had good texture. Overall, it didn't blow my mind. It's a pretty large serving for a reasonable price. I had enough leftovers for a couple meals at home. I hope to try more items on the menu!

$18 for a well cooked, well seasoned, fresh whole Lamb Shank over super chewy and tasty Noodles is super worth. Beef stew for $13 is also a great deal! Compared to typical Berkeley prices. Very home-y taste and vibes, and the staff is friendly and warm! They only accept payment by cash & venmo as of now though, no credit or debit cards. Will try their rice dishes (盖浇饭) and hot pot (麻辣烫) next time!

Saw this place when we went to get other food in this plaza and the staff was really friendly. The food was good and you get a lot for the price. The pork belly hand pulled noodles was what we ordered. Pork belly was tender and the noodles were bouncy and it had a nice chew to it. The spicy cumin lamb hand pulled noodles is another one that I wanna try next time. Definitely recommend this cute little hidden gem!

Stopped by on a random weekday night. I've passed it a few times before but always on the weekends or when they were closed. I got there just before 7pm and they were beginning to close so only takeout orders. The food took about 15 minutes. The operator gave me a bottle of water since I couldn't dine in, which was nice of them. I ordered the five spiced chicken leg over noodles. The portion was large. I could probably have split it into two meals. The noodles were bouncy and had a little spice to them which was a pleasant surprise (not hot just flavorful). The chicken leg was cooked well. The outer seasoning was good but didn't penetrate deep into the meat. All in all a great meal and service. Not a ton of parking or seating so beware. Also as noted by others, only cash and Venmo accepted.

Decided to try this place after craving some Asian food while on the Northside. Place is super small but cozy inside of the Northside Asian Ghetto. While the food wasn't anything incredible, it hit the spot for me in terms of tasting like a comforting Asian home cooked meal. The portion was sizeable as well for $15 and I was able to split it up into two meals. I took it to-go, so while I can't say anything about the dine-in service, the woman who helped me was quick and polite. They take card now it looks like, along with Venmo, Zelle, and cash. Will return!

Four things to know about Camille. 1) It is a Chinese restaurant, not Vietnamese. Maybe it used to serve Vietnamese food but now it serves mostly traditional Chinese food. 2) Big portions. Prices are a little higher than similar restaurants nearby. $16 for a big bowl of spicy hotpot (fish, shrimp, fish balls, tofu, cabbage, mushrooms, broccoli, vermicelli, chili peppers) with rice. 3) The spicy hotpot is very numbingly spicy. And good. 4) Cash or venmo only They're pretty fast too. 5 min wait when not busy. Good for a filling lunch.

I think it's pretty common knowledge that all the Asian restaurants in this mini Asian ghetto are just Chinese restaurants in disguise. This one in particular compares unfavorably with the nearby "Chinese" places. The prices are higher, the food is worse, the portions are smaller, and to top it all off, the food is served on paper plates instead of real plates. The beef dish I ordered had much more onion in it than it did beef, and it came with only a small amount of rice. It didn't taste bad, but there are definitely better options around. T C Garden forever.

    Hanoi beef over rice
    Julia Y.

I've been here 3 times over the course of a year and each time ordered the Hanoi Beef over rice. It's never failed to be delicious and filling. Although on the saltier and oilier side, the sticky white rice underneath goes well with it. I like the thinly sliced, flavorful onions and simple, steamed broccoli. The sauce in the beef is this spicy chili Szechuan sauce my mom used to put in beef soups -- but I guess stir frying with it is just as delicious! If you look past the sticky chairs and tables, the food is actually quite yummy. It's piping hot and ready in no time. I recommend coming here before the lunch rush (noon) if you're tight on time. You'll get a decently sized meal that's perfect for a long study (or exam) day. Another observation: even though this place says that it's Vietnamese, it seems more Chinese. They were speaking in Mandarin to one another so I'll have you know that the Chef is fluent in Mandarin.

12.2 dinner. A Chinese and Vietamese restaurant. I oredered lamb noodles. There was much lamb and vegetables. The bowls and chopsticks were non-recyclable. It was not environmental friendly. One person $10.76. There were many customers at that time.

This restaurant is different now, perhaps due to an owner change. It's pretty much like Famous Bao, can't complain about that.

YUCK! A one-star across all boards!! This review is long overdue and this place is past overdue for a health inspection. From all the options at this Asian Ghetto, me and the old roomie Roy P. decided to have our catch-up lunch here. Biggest mistake I've ever made as a foodie!! We were both on a tight schedule, but this place was taking longer than usual with our orders. There's only so much me and my roommate can talk about without it getting awkward! We ran out of things to say that he eventually had to ask about our order. I had the pho with beef balls, and it was without a doubt the WORST bowl of pho I've ever had. Not only did it take forever and a day to come out, the soup tasted like hella grimey dishwater. You could see all the fat in the soup and the beef balls looked like shit lumps gone dry. They didn't even leave me with any Sriracha or hoisin sauce!! Now here's the worst part. We were seated outside, and in the middle of forcing myself to ingest this garbage, two flies flew right into my soup and met their tragic deaths like star-crossed lovers!! At that point I was done, I literally screamed out loud and turned some heads. My appetite was too gone to even complain. Besides, I don't think I would've gotten my point across with the terrible customer service we got. Trying to hunt down a waiter never took so much effort, I didn't even wanna deal. Avoid this place like the plague and run away with your life while you still can! This whole ordeal was all probably because we sat outside, but it still doesn't make up for the crap they tried to pass off as food. It's probably a good thing that those flies flew into my soup because they spared me from my death, otherwise I wouldn't have had the chance to warn all you innocent souls. You can get better Vietnamese food elsewhere. I'm with my girl Taylor on this one, I am NEVER coming back here. Like, EVER!

The rib was definitely the most impressive part of the dish. Not only was it huge and very Instagrammable, but it was also extremely tender--kind of like braised oxtail, but served in a cleaner, lighter broth. The daikon balanced out the richness of the meat really well, and overall, I'd say this was a very satisfying meal. The beef and tomato lo mein, on the other hand, was probably closer to a 2.5/5. The dish leaned heavily on the tomato flavor, only had a few pieces of meat, and definitely needed additional seasoning, such as soy sauce, white pepper, or something to bring more depth. One thing that could be improved is the ordering experience. Their tablet system felt a bit cheap, and it was difficult to clearly see what each dish looked like on the screen. Providing a printed menu alongside the tablet would be really helpful.

Growing up in Wisconsin in a small city at the tip of Lake Superior Chinese restaurants were just about the only ethnic food available throughout the country. Exotic as they may seem to have been and widespread Nationally which is partly due to the Chinese building the railroads cross country. Chicago Cafe (Woodland, CA): Founded in 1903, academic research suggests this spot near Sacramento is the oldest continuously operating Chinese restaurant in the U.S. and California. These days I prefer Vietnamese or Thai all day long because the flavors are better and more variety and cleaner with respect to how the dishes are prepared. Well, I stumbled into this spot today and I was rather blown away. Large portions, low prices, excellent variety and top notch service. And a huge portion for only $13.95. I had the vegetable rice, complementary hot sauce and a nice iced cold five dollar Heineken. OK, this is a spot to put on your list. See you there!!! And now here are some interesting factoids: While thousands of Chinese immigrants first came to the U.S. to build the transcontinental railroad in the 1800s, it was the subsequent decades of legal discrimination that forced a marginalized community to turn the restaurant industry into their primary means of survival and citizenship. The "Lo Mein Loophole": In the early 20th century, U.S. courts recognized restaurant ownership as a pathway to obtain merchant visas. This loophole sparked a massive boom in the creation of Chinese restaurants, particularly luxury "chop suey palaces".
