I left hoarse. It was more like a club than a tavern the night we visited. Heads up--the ladies room is a single room, with no separate mirror/make up space. There were a lot of women who wanted to touch up or actually use the facilities the night we visited. Prepare for a line. We ultimately left and had a better social experience at the bar right across the street. I would definitely return to The Congress Tavern for lunch... but I wouldn't go back on a Saturday night.

I make a reservation at 9:00pm in October 24, which is my birthday. I was late about 10 mins, but your restaurant's valet did not let me in. He said the restaurant closed at 9:00. I see the hours which is Dinner 5 - 10PM Mon thru Thur, 5 - 11PM Fri & Sat. I said I had a reservation, the valet said the kitchen was closed at 9:00pm. The official closed hours from your website is 10pm, why the valet stop me? I could not believe that this was happened. A lot of my friends suggested me to try Camille's because they think the restaurant is the best in Providence. However, Camille's gave a me a extremely negative impression. I was excited to go back to Camille's because I knew they had a new Chef that joined them this year. I grew up going to Camille's, but had not been back for dinner in a few years and now I remember why. The food is average and the drinks are average, but for the prices they charge and all the amazing restaurants in Providence for foodies this place is at best a C+ / B-. For me personally not the value I expected. Though I will say our server, Jay, was amazing. This place is just not a choice for foodies and true cocktail connoisseurs. My partner ordered a manhattan and came with a maraschino cherry instead of Luxardo cherry which is what we receive at most high-end establishments. Camille's - it is consistently great food, well prepared and served by a well trained always available non-hovering staff. The restaurant is located in what looks like a huge house, and has lots of charm in nearly every corner. The restaurant itself leans more toward upscale Italian cuisine, so don't expect an inexpensive red-sauce joint, but the prices aren't really all that bad. You can't go wrong with any dish here- strongly recommend the chicken francais( best I've ever had in a restaraunt) and the giant mouth watering pork chops. The mozzarella and gnocchi are also great. I go to Camille's for dinner maybe 2-3x per year for special occasions. It is still a great place, but i did notice that I left there a little less impressed than in the past. I had their stuffed veal chop and it was delicious, but the had very little sauce so it was a bit dry. The mash potatoes had so little moisture that it felt and tasted like inside of a baked potato. Come to find out, they were having a pre trial party for their president who was accused of wildly shooting a pistol in a school zone in the middle of the day. Frutti de mare was flavorful. Lots of seafood and great flavor coming from it. Service was excellent and servers were very attentive. Overall the place was good. There was a little green sauce at the bottom of the plate, but I wish there was more . Unfortunately, I did not love the calamari. It felt over fried and was quite crunchy so I would not order that again. However, I would definitely go back and I would try a ton of new items.

This seemed pretty impressive considering how long they've been open! My drink was fantastic. I love a place that can make a drink that they've never made before and make it a 10 out of 10. I ordered the Chicken Milanese as that's my favorite Italian dish. The lemon vinaigrette was one of the best that I've ever had. The chicken cutlets were also cooked perfectly!
